@Mark Bee you can't seem to go wrong at The Pearl! Love seeing your already impressive collection grow. - - - Updated - - - I can't believe I haven't posted these here! I got my butt snake colored in at the beg of feb. Basically I got home from my tattoo trip, and my dog had a big sudden health issue that had to be dealt with STAT! So I didn't even think about it. Pics attached. I'm booked for more at the beg of Apr too!13 points

I popped into The Pearl today and had a couple of little fillers in and around my right knee. My lower legs are really filling in nicely, and I've made a stab up into the thighs as well. I was speaking to Tim Pausinger today, and we are going to get back to work on my back-piece in the summer. It will be nice to have that beast taken care of.6 points

Inspired by Bradley Tompkins' BRIGHT_AND_BOLD takeover, I decided to make an account that features good, healed and settled in tattoos. It's really niche I guess, but I have always enjoyed seeing tattoos that have been lived in, and I'm sure there's a few others out there like me. I am also hoping to maybe get some enthusiasts to do takeovers and show off a few of their tattoos, accompanied by stories about their experiences getting them. The account is called "Lived in Tattoos" (@livedintattoos). Check it out!5 points

Another session down with Grez on my arm. We finished up shading the eagle and added some brown into his body, as well as finished a bunch of clouds on my upper arm. I'm going back Saturday and I assume we'll move into more of the lower arm. Making some good progress. Once it gets to a solid point I'll post some pics. Pretty soon.4 points -
I'm getting the underside of my ass cheeks tattooed tomorrow. So yeah that should be interesting, like not in an erotic "shades of grey" interesting way (note, there will be many shades of grey) ibut more of a WTF this is dumb is this really necessary? Uh, onward with the bodysuit quest! Also, I'm at 197.5 hrs according to my tattoo spreadsheet...which means hitting the ass crack as I bust the 200hr milestone tomorrow hurrah! feeling pretty excited though, really, truly. Can't wait to burn my shirt in a firepit this summer. Cause I won't be needing that shit anymore! :cool:3 points

(On another note, like @CultExciter, I learned something too: I can't hang the way I used to :( ) Was nice to meet Matt from Three Kings, super nice dude.2 points -

You must be made of tough stuff. Chad did an all seeing eye on my outer forearm, below the elbow and i spent the whole time wanting to punch him! Thing is, pain or no pain the results speak for themselves and you're well on your way to having an incredible backpiece.2 points -

Oh man, all this reminds me of my first experience with tattoos and little ones. My neice had just turned one. She was really growing into her personality, so I felt more comfortable picking her up and playing games with her (no surprise her first word was uncle!). So I'm holding her, and she reaches down to try and peel the skull on my bicep off, and says "ouch!" (she always said that when she touched a booboo). I was laughing so hard! Out of her and her two brothers, she's been the only one to really notice. It'll be interesting to see whether I get any more silly reactions come summer time2 points -

Art Tattoo Quebec, May 29-31, 2015
Patrick Bateman reacted to Graeme for a topic
Pierre and Val who run Tattoomania in Montreal and who are the excellent folks behind the annual Montreal tattoo convention, have partnered with Jay Marceau and D-Markation in Quebec City to hold the first annual Quebec City tattoo convention. Anybody who has been to the Montreal convention knows how good it is: there are plenty of world-class tattooers there working in pretty much every style, and it's just a really fun convention with a really good atmosphere. Quebec City is also a gorgeous city to visit. The lineup so far is looking to be great. I'll have to see where I'm at with my back and how much money I'll have available to get tattooed but I'd really love to get something from Deno. Here's the website, facebook, and instagram for the convention with information about attending artists: arttattooquebec | Art Tattoo Quebec https://www.facebook.com/arttattooquebec Instagram Is anybody thinking of going to this? Me and @Pugilist will be there for sure, and it would be cool to have a little LST meetup if anybody else will be there. - - - Updated - - - I should also mention that you can get proper poutine in Quebec. I know that everybody who comes from out of province to the Montreal convention wants to eat poutine, but Montreal poutine is pretty crappy compared to the stuff you can get off-island.1 point -
Thanks for the replies guys! And I never really thought of that until you just mentioned it. Maybe that gives me a good excuse to bump it up sooner to get it done and healed up before summer starts haha1 point

Yeah, I do feel strange going into this one. I maintained an insane pace for a year, and I had my last session January 2nd. It's been over 2 months which is a lifetime. On the other hand, I get to look forward to this one without the dread of just barely having healed from the previous session! Cool! Lovin' the colors. And the pretty little girl :)1 point -

I have a 2 year old high energy german shepherd and while I'm no dog trainer (not even close), I've been teaching her some fun things to keep life interesting in -25 weather. Also to help relieve my guilt over long work weeks, ha. We hike daily in the middle of nowhere. All my previous dogs have been rottweilers, so all new fun over here. We've been working on scent detection, hiding something the day before and retrieving it the next day on our hike, tracking followed by sit-stay, and random fun. All our hikes are mostly off leash, so obviously before we ventured to the harder stuff we had her basic off leash commands down (come, sit, heel, watch, stay, leave it, etc). Totally neat to see her react to scent and tracking in various temperatures and weather conditions. It's all I mostly post on IG, so apologies to anyone who started following me expecting tattoo related stuff. My lunatic.1 point -
@Flo Ania epic man! I love it. So fucking good!!!! He drew mine on as well and that was a lot more pleasant than the tattooing!1 point

Somewhat along those lines, I really love the NASA instagram account because they post a lot of really incredible photos and they also explain what's happening in them. They posted a picture a couple of weeks ago from the Hubble of gravitational lensing, which is spacetime being warped around galaxy clusters because of their immense gravitational pull, and if I can massively understate things, it is really fucking cool. There are a bunch of other good space-related instagram accounts too. The International Space Station is worth following, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is cool, and there's a great account of pictures taken by the Hubble though I don't think it's an official account. So much great stuff out there.1 point -
Lady Parts! (Arms, just lady arms...)
karatefoxes reacted to sophistre for a topic
My arm isn't done, and I've only really started on one, but I can actually contribute! So I shall. :) Taking pictures of my own arm is hard, and I suck at it. There are individual pictures of these in my gallery, though, anyway! I was really late in coming to an appreciation of traditional designs (aside from traditional Japanese, which I have always loved). What sold me on traditional sleeves was the interesting way in which individual pieces become more than the sum of each individual tattoo...it becomes this collective aesthetic that I find so fascinating, in addition to being a very cool collection of individual images. I mention this because I have similar feelings about 'masculine' and 'feminine' aesthetics. (I'm also one of those people who thinks a man or woman can wear whatever the hell they want and still be masculine and feminine if they want to be, but that's a discussion of a slightly different variety. For the purposes of this post, I'm just using the generally accepted definitions of those words.) I think whether something reads as 'masculine' or 'feminine' in the traditional sense depends mostly on general presentation. There are tons of pictures out there of women wearing tough, aggressive traditional work, but they dress or present themselves in a way that's still super-girly and feminine. I think this look is amazing. Of course, there'll always be people out there who just find tattoos in general 'unfeminine' or whatever, buuut. That's really more about them, imo.1 point -
This is a good thread. My initial post-tattoo emotions are euphoric, typically with a side of hunger. But after that wears off (a day or two, often), the depression creeps in. I imagine it's for the same reasons already listed here: I just changed a part of myself and I have to live with and see it forever. So far, this feeling also fades... But I think part of this has to do with our modern culture, and touches on what @xcom just mentioned. We're all after the absolute best of whatever we can get. With the internet, we now have the ability to research every single decision we make to ensure that it's the absolute best one. I have a hard time purchasing anything over $20 without first reading some anonymous reviews likely written by jackasses. Louis CK does a great bit about this problem of over-research and DVD players: why the fuck do you need the best DVD player? What is that knowledge actually going to get you?! TLDR - don't worry about the tattoo blues, just keep getting good tattoos!1 point
