Got this from Horimatsu in October. It was a great experience, he is such an awesome dude with some pretty cool stories to tell. Also I got this cattoo on a caturday so I kind of won the internet that day :D edit: can't figure out why the picture is all wonky but if one clicks it again for full size it looks like it is supposed to... edit2: oh, and it's located on the outside of the calf.9 points -

Really? A beautiful back and grey sleeve won this summer, and several of the most active posters here get mostly or exclusively black and grey tattoos, though not necessarily in the style of the Jun Cha sleeve above. There's a slant towards color traditional, but to say that the forum has "little appreciation for B&G" doesn't seem right - there are definitely folks on here who are knowledgeable about Chicano tattooing, among other styles. There is a huge repository of info. on different traditions here if you dig around! Not trying to pick a fight, just scratching my head a bit.3 points

Welcome! It would help an artist if you had some basic ideas, like the angel for them to work with. We can all throw out ideas, but it should be important to you. It sounds like you might not have been completely in control of the last one, so this is the perfect time for you to imagine something that would be *you*. Is there something you got out of the bad relationship, like feeling like you have strength or something? Look for an image that represents how you feel now. Anyway, just a thought and good luck!2 points -
Why are bad tattoos so popular?
SeeSea and one other reacted to purplelace for a topic
One of my friends is heavily tattooed, he's got some tattoos that some would consider "bad". They're drawings his children did and he loved them that much he got them tattooed. They're fun and cute :) They do work well as fillers in amongst his other work. They're not poorly executed, but they do look child-like, because well they are.2 points -

Congrats, Bunny! I imagine finally getting that tattoo after seven years of waiting is a very satisfying feeling. Greg and I didn't get to two tattoos last night, since we got an unavoidable late start. We did go with the creepy Lo Pan hand holding a dragon that we were joking about the last time I was there. It's pretty much all a result of talking about Big Trouble in Little China with he and his coworker when I was the last one in the shop on my last appointment.2 points -

Hey @ItchinforInk - to be blunt, no. I've never heard of that ink, but the problem is, what comprises "Powder Pigment" and who decided at what fineness it's ground and how much / what ratio is used. Combine that with a tattoo artist who may cut it with distilled water and then factor in machine, need mag selection and power supply settings and you can quickly see there are a near infinite ways the pigment could be delivered to your skin. That doesn't take into account cutting the pigment with something else or inconsistency in the batches from the manufacture. In a nutshell, until you start with at least one, or two / three treatments, it will be hard to say at what rate your body will process the pigment. I know this isn't the answer you want to hear but it's important to not focus on just one aspect of tattoo removal.1 point -

New here! Not overly computer savvy but will try :) I have owned and operated a tattoo shop in Grande Prairie Alberta for 15 years. I have been a body piercer for 18 and tattooed now for three. Love the business but it can be difficult to find an artist that doesnt have addiction issues. Looking for a full time artist as my lead artist is relocating to another city to be with her boyfriend. Lots of work for the right artist call or text Toni 780-296-52001 point -
I have no visible tattoos. My back is always covered. My 4 year old granddaughter saw the big sea scene for the first time the other day. She just stared, and them immediately tried to rub it off! And it wouldn't come off! Then she tried to rub harder. But when I asked her if she could find Nemo - bam, she picked him right out. Kids are fun.1 point

One more session to go and filling in the blank spot underneath.1 point -
So I decided to go with a hanya. I let the artist do what he wanted. My only input was having snake head come into my chest. He added a couple cool things like the skull ropes for the mask. This is after the first sit. Next sit will be some more details and lines and maybe background and then for some color. Have to decide on a color palette. I'm open to suggestions! Ps sorry for the sideways pics. Doing this on mobile and will fix it when i get a chance.1 point

Fellow knitter here :) Current project is a Weeping Angel (Dr Who) costume for my build a bear lion. Though that has been put on hold as I'll be starting a new costume project for him. Angel Tyrael (from Diablo). The yarn I got for new project is perfect for it :) Will be knitting two yarns together. Also have a long term as and when blanket on the go, knitted in a patchwork style. My mum taught me how to knit over 30 years ago and I taught myself crochet/french knitting. I can't follow patterns so I just make things up as I go along. Some pics of my knitting: Two chunky knitted bracelets: Knitted glasses case: Summer hat with crochet flowers: I have other images but they are on an external hard drive and have to hoak it out first.1 point -

@polliwog - I agree with you that "A lot of the most fervent defining seems to be done by people looking at the tattoos, rather than the actual tattooed person." The article is a thoughtful read, but it also needs to be understood in the context of what the vast majority of tattoos are, i.e. those tiny infinity symbols and whatever. The kind of work folks on this board get is not the norm, and so our reasons and attachment to tattoos is probably not going to conform to that data super well either. I do often get tattooed to mark particular moments in my life or transitions. I have many tattoos that to me did feel like alternative rites of passage where there were no "mainstream" ones (getting a tattoo to mark finishing my PhD, for example), so I can relate to some of what the article is saying. But I have two principal issues with it nonetheless. First of all, I hate these strange studies of "identity" because they make it seem like this rigid, easily defined concept. I mean, I feel like I have a strong sense of who I am and am searching for who I am at the very same time, and I imagine that is true for most people. I find their discussion of that stuff very over-simplified. Second, I am fucking sick of all these millenials articles, and I am not even a millenial! But like seriously, the desire to cast each new generation as a bunch of iconoclasts with no connection to the past is insane. Millenials are not a fundamentally different kind of person than the rest of us, and writing like they are some kind of alien culture that must be studied makes me crazy. Like we live in a weird world where we are increasingly less and less attached to communities that traditionally defined us. So yeah, we're all searching, and maybe tattoos help us with some of that searching and maybe they don't. We invest a huge amount of time and money (and blood!) into them, so obviously they mean a lot to us and impact our identities. DUH; I would have a hard time disputing any of that. But trying to turn it into some kind of "definition of a generation" psychobabble is a bit much.1 point

Hi, here is a healed photo of the hell scene that Tim Lehi did on me last month. He is my favourite tattooer and it was so fun to get this piece from him. I also posted it in this months contest: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/lst-announcements-contests/6076-november-2014-tattoo-month-contest-page4.html#post105993 The size of the photo might be a bit too big, but I will fix it as soon as I can.1 point -
2nd Appointment done. This one was freaking brutal, he worked the back of the arm for a solid 4 hours and I was completely tapped out on any kind of pain management my body could muster... we spent another 3 and a half hours on the background/sky and I gave up... the shame. I just couldn't keep going, the back of the arm and the top of the shoulder is some serious, serious business. I'll provide better shots once its healed, of the back showing the finished mane and hopefully a better shot of the sky, although it's no where close to finished. Going back in on December 1st, can't wait!1 point

I like it the way it is SENT FROM MY LG G FLEX ON THE NOW NETWORK FROM SPRINT!?✌1 point -
Any of Abby Franquemont's spindle videos on YouTube. If you have a yarn shop near you, they may have some spinners who can help, too. I struggled to pick up on it easily until I was able to sit down with a wheel spinner (I was shopping for a wheel at the time, but I haven't purchased one yet) and that's when I finally clicked on how to spin and draft at the same time. It takes some practice and first yarn will be lumpy and uneven, but don't let that put you off. I was spinning almost a year before I finally got a yarn that I considered "good" and I still have a lot to learn, because I've only been at it about three years. It may help to invest in a good quality, balanced spindle - sometimes those toy wheel ones aren't very good for beginners who are just starting out. Schacht makes a line of good drop spindles that can be used as high/top or low/bottom whorl, they're balanced and not very expensive. Mine is the medium weight one and it cost me about $40 at a localish yarn shop. Also, since you're on Ravelry, definitely take advantage of the spinning groups. Beginning Spinning is one aimed at newbies to the craft, and they can point you in the right direction for a ton of good resources. (I was very active on Ravelry under a different name until recently due to some personal issues, and while I have a new account now, I haven't been active on the forums yet with it.) As for progress pics, once I get my computer back I'll get some up. It was really old and completely fried, so I'm waiting on my uncle to transfer the hard drive to a different one for me. For now I'm stuck on an old iPad and lots of sites don't allow for upoads from this device.1 point

Embarrassingly enough, my first tattoo (on my 18th) is upside-down. It's a tiny heart on my thigh (if I recall correctly, I wanted to get it "facing me", which I now realise is pretty damn stupid). Not that it bothers me that much, but still.1 point -
