beez and 3 others reacted to outrenthome for a topic
Hi! I got my first tattoo and it was the most excruciating pain ever! I think kidney stones feel better than the tattooo I had! Anyway, I am using Saniderm to heal this big boy and I am at my 4th day! I can't wait to take the Saniderm off... well actually I can't wait for it to stop being sore most of all! I want to go back to the gym soon! Take care!4 points -
Not mine, but great to see Kore Flatmo posting again, it's been close to a year!4 points

Session five yesterday, lining and shading background on the ribs and love handles. Goddamn the love handles are a shitty fucking spot. Next session we'll shade the background on my other cheek and thigh so we'll be going into the new year with a substantial chunk of the background done. I love how it's coming together.4 points

Went to see Steve Wimmer on Monday in Delaware. Took a little over 6 hours, my longest sitting. Thought I was gonna tap out but I champed it. Not gonna lie, the last hour was rough on me though. (Cell phone pic)3 points -
Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
KBeee and 2 others reacted to outrenthome for a topic
Hi! I got my tattoo last Saturday, November 15, and my artist used Saniderm on it (This is my very first tattoo of my life, I decided to go big or go home lol). I still have not been able to take a picture of my back with Saniderm because I just have a hard time twisting my back (It's painful!) but I will try to take a picture of the tattoo covered with Saniderm tonight using a mirror. The picture I posted is from 10 minutes after the tattoo was completed. So he applied Saniderm 15 minutes after completing the tattoo. This started leaking ink and blood everywhere and I had to use two layers of clothing to prevent it from messing up my bed that night. Then the day after I went back to the tattoo shop to take it out, get cleaned, and replace it with another new Saniderm cover. This time there have been no leaks so far. Today is the 4th day of my tattoo and my Saniderm is still sticking. Here is my question: 1) Can I leave it on for as long as I can? I was thinking of even keeping it on until next Satuday (That would make 6 days of covering) 2) Do you use any cream on top of the film or do you just leave it on and do nothing? 3) I was given a couple of sanitizing/moisturizing cream jars by my artist. I guess I will have to start using them after I take my tattoo off. How often would you use it in a day? 4) Also, how long will it take to stop feeling tender? I can't wait to go back to the gym! Thank you for your help!3 points -

I keep coming back to this one. It's such a rad way of filling an awkward spot and I feel like I've never really seen anything before like it. I'm going to keep this tattoo in mind for a long time especially as I get more and more awkward gaps.2 points

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Wish I had back some of the money I spent on stupid stuff in my early 20s, if I'd only known.2 points

Yeah that Rubendall piece is definitely tibetan inspired! The skulls are adorned with smaller skulls, just like real Tibetan necromancer masks!2 points

My 30th birthday was on Friday. My wife took me out to dinner Saturday night and said we were gonna meet her brother for drinks. When we showed up to the bar she had a surprise party waiting for me. She said she was going out to have a smoke and when she came back in someone tapped me on the shoulder, my best friend flew in from out of state to show up. It was like a surprise inception.2 points

First of all i would like to thank you all for this inspiring thread. Second Im so excited for the start of my back piece by Jondix in january. The waiting have been long but 'soon' it's time!! We have two consecutive days in row. Kinda nervous about how my body will take the long sessions. Anyone done two full days in a row? How did your body take it? Eat sleep try to relax, repeat..2 points

Ok edited to make it not so massive, we'll see if that works. Tried to get a head on photo to show the other side as well, but it made it distorted as it wraps around and looked funny. Done by Ellen Murphy at Lombard St Tattoo, Portland. As I said the other day, rad shop, Ellen was awesome, great day all around. Picked off the wall from a Stell sheet, mostly healed now.2 points -

Intense Exercise and a new tattoo
SeeSea reacted to sighthound for a topic
I'd say just wait a bit. Fitness can be gained relatively quickly and you can do it any time you want. You're tattoo is forever and the period right after it is done has the biggest effect on how it will heal and age, etc. So, take it easy would be my suggestion.1 point -

CABS reacted to Killercook76 for a topic
I would take it off right now!! Longest I kept mine on for was 3 days. I usually keep it on for about 2.5 days and my tattoos come out perfectly. No lotion on top or under the derm. Just take it off then air dry for a while like a day or so. Then start with the lotion.1 point -

Am I understanding that your question isn't why are there so many drawings of skulls, but why do they have actual skulls or models of such on display in shops? One reason of course would be, as everyone pointed out, that they're cool. Another thing could be for drawing reference, if you have the actual item you can pose it in any angle you want and draw from it as a whole reference, using books or the internet as a reference can only give you so many angles, and maybe you don't want a 3/4 perspective, just a little off from that or whatever. With the actual item in hand you can angle it exactly how you're imagining and get it detailed just so.1 point

@polliwog If you can afford nice decent sized tattoos like your Chad eagle, I would think that you could manage a backpiece financially if you make it a priority and like @Lance said above, are disciplined about your finances and can work out a reasonable schedule with whatever tattooer you choose. A backpiece is financially daunting and I'd be lying if I said that paying for mine doesn't cause me stress and forces me to choose between things I want. Right now I need to replace my computer's hard drive because it failed, but that's not really in my budget right now because of my backpiece. And that's fine, because beyond essentials like rent, bills, food, etc., tattoos are my priority. It sucks sometimes, but it sucks more not having nice tattoos.1 point

Took 6 one hour sign language classes, had a blast. She planned on having a follow up class tonight to rehash things, ask questions etc, and I had to take a muscle relaxer for a headache and felt too "drunk" to go. it's fun tho, I wish I had more need to use it throughout the day so I could get better/faster at it. My husband is probably going to be the new drug dog handler for the police department, so that's kind of exciting for him. He started a business this past summer and it is doing pretty well for being new. I turned 40 last week. Got a super blonde almost-pixie cut and new funky glasses to celebrate.1 point

@marley mission - thanks! I love the hammerheads. We were under schooling hammerheads a couple times in Galagapos, and in a parade of them all swimming by. They are a little spooky up close, though. O.O My artist is Sean Zee. @misterJ - haha - I know what you mean! Thanks - it's gonna be a hell of a final stretch and I'm looking forward to the end. Getting NUTS! @scubaron, @Pugilist, @graybones, @Fala - thank you! @sophistre - yeah, the eel has a special place - that teethy smile :-) It's kinda funny because he actually had to change the species of eel. I love my spotted moray eels, but they are black with mottled white spots. My tattoo artist said that it would start to look sloppy earlier because the coloring is kind of slopping looking to begin with. So, that was one of the "artistic license" things I gave him - so he picked a honeycomb moray instead. It as a more regular pattern so it should hold up better. I think the ending will be emotional in many ways.1 point

UPDATE: Two days of brutality on my back with Henning. This go around we started coloring in the phoenix at Kings Avenue Tattoo. 7 hours on Friday in Long Island, then 6 more hours on Saturday in Manhattan. Henning thinks we need one more full session to complete everything. I think probably 2 more including any touch ups. By the way...I really really hate ribs...and spine....THE WORST. Enjoy the pics.1 point
