Finally got some mediocre pictures taken of my Fudo Myoo backpiece done by Chad Woodley here in Vancouver. We're going to get started on the background in the fall, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting it all finished up! Also, sorry about my butt!

Having had my backpiece for a few months now, I gotta to say that I keep loving it more and more. I wanted to get one for years, and I'm so glad that I finally said "fuck it" and went ahead. The only downside is that I have to keep looking at photos of myself to get a proper view of it. Can't wait to start filling up areas that I can actually see myself. Here is a recent photo from my holiday in Ibiza.

I do think they look like fireworks, but it is a pretty bland tattoo. Can totally be fixed by adding black drop lines to the colored lines similar to the picture that @misterJ posted. I don't think it needs to be covered. If you ask to have the black stop at the heart, I'm sure it will stand out a lot more as a heart. Overall, not a bad tattoo, just needs black to make it pop.

You mean tattoo artists, "tattoo design" websites are a scam and a "tattoo designer" isn't a thing.

That lady head was done by Freddy Corbin a few years ago, so I'm definitely not covering it up. :) Last I spoke to Freddy he suggested putting a lotus underneath it and surrounding it with a halo of sorts so that it can be integrated better into the whole piece. The background is pretty much just going to be a bunch of flames. It's going to be wicked cool!

Re: Mario Desa's birds, he mentioned that he'd be at Smith St in October the other day. tagging @BrianH though you probably already saw this. I was lucky enough to grab a spot. Thinking maybe I'll try for a walk-in at Smith St earlier that week.

MY pleasure! I am a HUGE fan of Tattooland...I have lived in Anaheim, and really got my first taste of high-caliber tattooing there. Every one there is so talented, professional, and can tell stories for days! Little Roy, Jack, Chris, Stan, Brandy....all top-notch individuals and artists. I intend to have a good number of current and former Tattooland artists/Beatniks contribute to my collection - Hopefully Chuey, Espi, Ben Grillo, Corey Miller, Robert Atkinson, etc. Jack Rudy Ray Giambrone - Inkhouse - Lake Forest, CA Jeremiah Barba Zombie Joe - Norco Tattoo Dan Smith - Captured Tattoo Dan Smith - Captured Tattoo - - - Updated - - - Yup! Got tattooed at his new shop, Captured....it was beautiful. I was lucky enough to watch Chad Koeplinger tattoo on a guest spot there, and it was just an amazing experience that I won't forget. Dan was through and through the nicest guy in the industry!! As for Jack...yeah he's a vampire! I had an amazing time there too, they made me feel really comfortable and there is so much magic in that shop it's not even funny. I think I started around midnight and left around 4 am....so proud to wear his work though.

Booked in for three more sessions on my back piece, two with Iain Mullen in Stockholm, one with Rudy Fritsch at the London Convention. Iain and I will also redo my heel tattoos that didn't heal proper. Not looking forward to any of what I just wrote but what the heck..

How much do you charge?

I don't get it... Needles bother the crap out of me too. Getting tattooed is a very different experience and sensation. You can't have a passion for something and only watch kinda from the sidelines. Go get something

Exactly how I got tattooed by Bert Krak at Frith Street last year. It was great doing it that way. Also, I'm booked in to be tattooed by Bert Krak and Freddy Corbin in London (Frith Street & convention) in September.

Have just booked a slot with Eli Quinters at the London Tattoo Convention. No idea what I'm getting as they'll be bringing a book of 100+ designs to choose from. Not even sure where I'll get it, probably on my leg. In any case - I'm excited!

I just set an appointment with Nora Townsend at Magnetic North Tattoo in Burlington, VT for the first week of October. Very excited! Having a blast here and stoked that there is a great shop in my backyard :)

No offense, but in two posts you've mentioned covering or changing your tattoo , in the event of divorce- in order to erase your commemoration of her. I understand " better safe than sorry" but I wouldn't start off with all the negativity. This is what I was saying in my blog; if someone is important enough to you that you want to get something either to represent them, or their name- then just get it and live with it! It really is just a tattoo. If the pin ups hair is blonde and you split up from your blonde wife- who's to know?

Hullo all, I'm probably going to be one of the oddballs here and say that I have no tattoos on me, and nor would I ever want to go through that painful process. I have a very low pain tolerance and looking at a needle coming near me makes me light-headed and sick (true story right there). But! I do love drawing tattoo designs. I just could never be an actual body art artist. With that being said, I've been drawing ever since I was a young'n. I never really thought about drawing tattoo designs until around...'99 maybe? A coworker of mine saw some of my art and wanted one of them to be tattooed on her back--and she did get it tattooed there much to my surprise. After that, I wanted to get into drawing tattoos for people. I took a year in college for advertising art, but it wasn't my thing and I ended up dropping out and not drawing for a whole year. Not sure what got me back into it, but I did start drawing again, and I've had a few more coworkers asking me to design them some tattoos. It was only just recently that I got a job as a tattoo designer for an online website, which made my day. I figured I'd join up and talk with other tattoo enthusiasts!

Nice work SeeSea. I kept reef aquariums for several years and I love reef scenes. Anyway... @SeeSea She doesn't want a swallow, she wants a bluebird (not a blue bird). Scientific name Sialia. I already have a swallow that goes with my parent's memorial tattoo. (see avatar) I don't have a lighthouse yet. I'm getting one in two weeks. I could totally see a swallow and a lighthouse going together, but a bluebird and a lighthouse? I suppose, but it's no peanut butter and chocolate, if you know what I mean. It would have been easy easy if she'd chosen a seafaring bird. Maybe way I'm off, but rather than having a bluebird lost in large tattoo with the main focus being a lighthouse, I decided to make her the center subject. And yes, ultimately the tattoo is for me. All of my tattoos are for me.

Yep everything I've got from smith street I've had no idea what I wanted or where it'd go till I walked in, and couldn't be happier with any of the pieces Ive picked up

Been working on a five book novel series that I started writing a couple years back. :) Oddly enough I've written most of the first book and am now working on the fifth and final book.

I kind of don't understand why names get singled out here. I don't have my wife's name tattooed on me, but we each have two of the same tattoos that might look like birds to folks who don't know, but when I look at those tattoos, they're aren't that much different than a name tattoo in terms of symbolic value. And for that matter, I've only been getting tattooed since I've been married and because tattoos are something we enjoy and do as a couple, and travel fairly frequently to get tattooed, so the tattoos and the whole experience of them is intertwined with our marriage. It's maybe not as obvious as a name, but it's still there. Bottom line is that tattoos are for adults and part of being an adult is making choices and decisions even if you might end up wishing you'd done something else some point down the line.

I've only ever seen one nice handwriting/signature tattoo. It was on a thigh, and it was done as if the writing was on a postcard with a hand holding the postcard and some flowers around it. I wish I could remember who did it.

I realized it was fireworks, but I didn't see immediately that they were originating with hearts. I like it fine. If it was me, I'd probably ask a good artist if it could be enhanced with some black or something and make it pop a little more. Nothing extreme. Just my opinion. But like others have suggested, wait until it's fully healed before you make any decisions.

Was told I might fit in over here. Back piece done by Josh Damnit Classic Tattoo Upland CA. Took about a year and a half (slow and steady). Couldn't be happier with it. Tribute to cousin who passed.

Got this dagger from Steve Byrne this past Friday at the Pagoda convention. Super stoked on how it came out and the convention was great! It was very cool to see such great tattoo artists and people all in one place. If I didn't leave when I did I probably would of walked out of the convention broke and with a few more tattoos.

That depends if you are planning on paying them to do it or not.

Curious, would it be out of line to ask the artist if a 2nd appointment should be made 6 months to a year after the work is complete? just to touch up or refresh the realistic tattoo.

Here is mine, done by Erick Lynch. About 8 years old at this point. The praying hands/snake were done about two years prior to the rest.

tony hundahl drew this reaper on my thigh tonight @ pagoda. he asked what i wanted to do so i just showed him a spot and let him do whatever he wanted.

It should keep the vibrant colors for a number of years. I wouldn't worry about it too much in your case.

Look at my 38 year old one in my Gallery! I'm still astonished that the colors are still good, even if the outline has "grown".

Looks great for a 12yr. old tattoo.
