    Upcoming Tattoos

I just set an appointment with Nora Townsend at Magnetic North Tattoo in Burlington, VT for the first week of October. Very excited! Having a blast here and stoked that there is a great shop in my backyard :)

    Upcoming Tattoos

Just booked back in with Emily Rose to do the fronts of both thighs on the 19th and 20th Feb 2015. I figured if I was going to be laid up on the couch with one sore and swollen thigh over the weekend I may as well deal with both at the same time. This will either be the best or the stupidest idea I've had. Can't wait to find out.

  4. Got this dagger from Steve Byrne this past Friday at the Pagoda convention. Super stoked on how it came out and the convention was great! It was very cool to see such great tattoo artists and people all in one place. If I didn't leave when I did I probably would of walked out of the convention broke and with a few more tattoos.

  5. Hey everyone, Just registered, but I've been lurking on here regularly for a couple of years. I'm a tattoo collector, have a little work from Jack Rudy, Dan Smith, Zombie Joe, Jeremiah Barba, and a few others. I've worked for a couple tattoo supply companies, but don't really care to say which ones. I live in Orange County, CA and consider Southern California the Mecca of tattooing, feel very lucky to live within driving distance of some truly amazing shops. I have a great appreciation for the tattoo community and art form. I do NOT tattoo and don't intend to ever start, I just don't have the artistic ability.

    What's in a name

I kind of don't understand why names get singled out here. I don't have my wife's name tattooed on me, but we each have two of the same tattoos that might look like birds to folks who don't know, but when I look at those tattoos, they're aren't that much different than a name tattoo in terms of symbolic value. And for that matter, I've only been getting tattooed since I've been married and because tattoos are something we enjoy and do as a couple, and travel fairly frequently to get tattooed, so the tattoos and the whole experience of them is intertwined with our marriage. It's maybe not as obvious as a name, but it's still there. Bottom line is that tattoos are for adults and part of being an adult is making choices and decisions even if you might end up wishing you'd done something else some point down the line.

    What's in a name

No offense, but in two posts you've mentioned covering or changing your tattoo , in the event of divorce- in order to erase your commemoration of her. I understand " better safe than sorry" but I wouldn't start off with all the negativity. This is what I was saying in my blog; if someone is important enough to you that you want to get something either to represent them, or their name- then just get it and live with it! It really is just a tattoo. If the pin ups hair is blonde and you split up from your blonde wife- who's to know?

    Correct It or Cover It?

personally I think that second link looks like a mess of random stars and lines... but that is what fireworks are. So, maybe it's great? I understood what yours was when I saw it immediately, I think you have some buyers remorse and cannot really admit that. This is how you should fix it :D http://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lswtybVsZk1qfp499o1_500.jpg

    Correct It or Cover It?

I think it looks fine. But if you do cover it up, a giant panther head should do the trick. I love me a giant panther head. But really though, for the idea presented, I think it looks fine.

  12. I'm a lefty. I've learned by watching and most importantly, listening. It doesn't matter where the sideplate faces or what side the desk is on. You just might have to move around a little bit more. I'm more baffled that your mentor told you to look online instead of figuring out what he/she should be doing differently on their own. Good luck! Or good luck?

    Correct It or Cover It?

I realized it was fireworks, but I didn't see immediately that they were originating with hearts. I like it fine. If it was me, I'd probably ask a good artist if it could be enhanced with some black or something and make it pop a little more. Nothing extreme. Just my opinion. But like others have suggested, wait until it's fully healed before you make any decisions.

  14. In order to shake things up at home my wife and I have started playing board games. They are providing a nice change from watching tv or playing on the ps4. So far we've been playing Ticket to Ride, Eldritch Horror, Forbidden Desert, and Letters from Whitechapel. I'm always interested in sugesstions... Maybe I'm setting the threshold a little low for "awesome," but whatever - its fun.

  17. My daughter is five so I have some time before this becomes an issue but considering how much time she has already spent inside our local tattoo shop I will clearly need a strategy when the time comes. I'm thinking that if she wants a tattoo as soon as she turns 18 I will pay her to wait. But I will pay her in money towards whatever tattoo she ultimately decides on. The longer she waits the more money she will have to spend on getting an awesome tattoo. Of course this could backfire and she could end up with a full back piece of an infinity sign exploding into a flock of birds. Life is full of risks I suppose.

  18. My oldest daughter wanted to slam some bullshit passage down her rib panel. I said, sweetheart...I love you, but if you ruin prime real estate like that with shit text, I'll be forced to trade you for another daughter with more brains. She's 25 this year and has learned the sound advice given by her father.

  21. MY pleasure! I am a HUGE fan of Tattooland...I have lived in Anaheim, and really got my first taste of high-caliber tattooing there. Every one there is so talented, professional, and can tell stories for days! Little Roy, Jack, Chris, Stan, Brandy....all top-notch individuals and artists. I intend to have a good number of current and former Tattooland artists/Beatniks contribute to my collection - Hopefully Chuey, Espi, Ben Grillo, Corey Miller, Robert Atkinson, etc. Jack Rudy Ray Giambrone - Inkhouse - Lake Forest, CA Jeremiah Barba Zombie Joe - Norco Tattoo Dan Smith - Captured Tattoo Dan Smith - Captured Tattoo - - - Updated - - - Yup! Got tattooed at his new shop, Captured....it was beautiful. I was lucky enough to watch Chad Koeplinger tattoo on a guest spot there, and it was just an amazing experience that I won't forget. Dan was through and through the nicest guy in the industry!! As for Jack...yeah he's a vampire! I had an amazing time there too, they made me feel really comfortable and there is so much magic in that shop it's not even funny. I think I started around midnight and left around 4 am....so proud to wear his work though.

  23. @marley mission Yeah I have a lot of energy this time of year so I need to channel it somewhere! It's also fun to try something new. Respect for picking up skateboarding at a later age! You will hurt yourself a lot in the beginning but hang in there, after a while it's more comfortable and less frustrating. And the rewards are great… so much fun!

  28. This is really not awesome but I hurt my foot skateboarding like 4 months ago and haven't given it enough time to heal. Every time I skate I can do it for tops 2 hours and then it hurts really bad the next 2-3 days and then I can do it again after a week. I really think the foot needs time to heal so this is no good. I decided to lay of skating for a while. Skateboarding has been a great joy and outlet for the past 12 years, kept me sane through many heartaches and stressful chapters of my life. But I will not let this get me down. To keep busy I registered for a beginners class in yoga (something I've been interested to try for years) and will also start swimming regularly in the mornings at a indoor pool close to where I live. If my foot holds of decently I also intend to get down with bouldering which seems super fun.

  36. Welcome, I'd love to see pictures of your tattoos if you'd care to share them. I don't get the opportunity to see much of that West Coast stuff out my way, but the guy who's currently tattooing me has some ten year old single needle Jack Rudy script on his wrist and it's beautiful and is aging perfectly.

  39. I'm not sure I see what the problem is. It doesn't look like it came from somebody's kitchen, it looks like somebody did his or her best with a not very tattooable idea, and honestly, your post reads like a bad yelp review.

  44. Cash was definitely king since the ATM in the hotel lobby ran out of money on Saturday afternoon. I went up yesterday with @huggernaut. Neither of us were getting tattooed, but a few friends were. It was a great time. It was reallllly small, especially compared to the conventions I'd been to in the past, but that worked to its advantage. So many heavy hitters all in one room putting down serious work. The Kings Avenue booth was packed to the gills in the middle row and everything I saw them put out was dope. A back wall was lined by Ron Wells, Chad Koeplinger, Steve Byrne, Tony Hundahl, Marina Inoue, and a few from Inksmith and Rodgers (among others). I had friends get tattooed by Ron, Grez, Chris Stuart, and others. I had won $100 from their IG contest, so Justin was nice enough to know who I was coming in, catch me, and get that all situated. Since my appt with Scott fell through, I spent it on the With The Light of Truth book and a shirt at King's Ave. And some cookies at Vegan Treats! All in all, the convention was great, and I hope it becomes a regular thing! I saw @chrisnoluck's tattoo in the other thread. Did anyone else go? Thoughts?

  49. That there's being exposed to a good insight. My 10 year old son is the same. He's constantly talking about his future body suit. How he's gonna slam a huge battleship across his back, full flight eagle across his chest, lightning bolts and skulls. They're funny as. When we returned from riding one of the motorcycles the other arvo and as we're rolling the bike back into the lounge room, my 9 year old daughter looked at him and said...Dylan, I reckon when your older, your gonna be a tattooed biker. The boy just took one look at her and simply said...100%.

  50. Not sure if you guys know but I got cocky with my Remis piece and never bothered healing it properly. It got really infected and smelt like rotting flesh. I just had it recently fixed by Remis so thought I would share and see if anyone else has any works that they had fucked up and had fixed, interested to see how they came out after the fix. I am very happy with the way my turned out. :) This was when freshly done! This was my healing skills lol Fixed 2 days ago :)
