  10. I'll add my sorry sticks to the thread. Visible tattoos: Hot Stuff and the ankle cuff are by Nathan Draper. The hot air balloon and the cat are by Chad Koeplinger. The pyramid (Higgs flash) is by Glennie Whittal The skull, clown, and boxer are by Tim Pausinger. Not visible is a space torch I picked up from Mario Desa at Great Lakes, a hand of glory by Chad, and some more work by Tim. This September I have a session with R.H. Wells to fill in some more of my legs at the Montreal convention. Who knows, maybe I'll find a few more fillers before the end of the summer.

  12. Yeah, nothing really pretty about it and they do have a high turnover. But she's comfortable and the staff couldn't be any nicer. I was there with my son the other night and we left close to 10 PM. Ran into a collection person from a funeral home, my son asked if that was the grim reaper... yup. When they take someone out during the day, they close all the doors to the rooms during the process. I'm trying to be there and do things at home too... family chases me out now and then, I do need a break. Got some gardening done at home, had my sprinklers turned on and played with the pool a bit. People drop off meals for us at the house. The local support is amazing. Haven't cooked a full meal in a month, been doing burgers, leftovers, Subway and of course blowing through vast amounts of beer.

  13. That's where they post pics of my grandkids, and I can keep up with best friends we rarely see. I agree it can be a huge time sink if you let it. That's what notification settings are for! ::shrugs:: The best: waking up on my birthday to a picture of my granddaughters on FB holding a poster that reads, "Happy Birthday Grandma" with their hand prints in paint around it.

    Hanya or Peony?

http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/925000_242144452644757_1131876742_n.jpg I still haven't decide what to put on the inner arm of this. I've gotten in contact with some artists and I've gotten ideas of skulls, flowers, hanyas, and drums. and severed head I'm leaning towards a B&G skull. Is there another badass idea that I'm not considering? Doesn't have to be japanese.

  18. A little in-progress shot my wife posted on Instagram of the peony on her elbow from Martin Lacasse at Olde City Tattoo. You can see the back of the snake as well. That's also the first peony that bloomed in our yard this spring. Here's an in-progress shot he posted of the snake. From @lacassetattoo. Finally, here's the ditch peony.

  20. Great thread. love it! I´m going to add some stuff to the collection in October. Jeff Rassier is going to do a good-sized filler in crazy style on the calf, between the Horimasa and Garver tattoos. Chris O´Donnell a skull/snake on the other thigh, and Timothy Hoyer the other calf with ladie/demon/tiger hybrid (based on a painting he did last year).

    The ladies thread

I am getting my first leg tattoo this month!!!!!!!!!! Planning to wear knee length skirts and pedal pusher shorts during the healing, so no fabric sticks to it, it can get air, and I can look at it all the time! I will be on summer break so won't have to cover it up for any reason. Yeah! Pretty excited...

  22. AND I JUST GOT ATTACKED AGAIN!! This time it yanked my glasses off my face!!! MY FACE!! Two weeks ago another crow dive bombed me and chased me for two blocks. It is TERRIFYING. Lessons learned: - Late May - Late June = fledgling season, and crow mothers are no different from mothers anywhere and will attack any perceived threat to their babies. Any perceived threat like walking under a nest you don't know is there. Walk somewhere else for the month. - Crows remember up to 200 discrete faces and also talk to each other. Don't piss off crows. - They like to nest in big, tall trees. - If you hear warning caws (I did NOT get a warning just now) then GTFO. Just do it. I like to walk and my walk to my chiropractor's office is usually quite pleasant but I think I will take the bus home BECAUSE SCARY BIRDS SWOOPING AT YOU FROM THE SKY AND FROM BEHIND IS FUCKING TERRIFYING! I dealt with this as a kid in Oklahoma. Kite hawks, anyone? My friends and I took to walking to each other's houses in the summertime with bike helmets on. One day a bunch of high schoolers in an open jeep drove up and started making fun of us for walking with helmets on....guess who got swooped?! Lesson. Don't fuck with birds.

  23. I'm currently working on finishing an American Traditional sleeve. I'm going in tomorrow to see about getting a spider web on my elbow, which would be my second one, so hopefully I might be done the whole arm by the time I'm 73. I've always loved tattoos, but these ones in particular. I really dig the style, they've got a kind of whimsical quality to them. After my arm I've got plans to do a couple on my legs, neck, and hands. I'm not really looking forward to the knuckles, but I suppose sacrifices must be made, eh? Well, I'm about out of things to say. If anybody has any questions for some strange reason feel free to ask. In lieu of a proper introduction, here's a good CD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MEuY4ObLU

  26. Sorry if this has been asked before, but most of the time when I open LST through tapatalk (on a galaxy s3 if that matters) I get an error "cannot connect to server" and sometimes it loads threads, sometimes not. I usualluw use the timeline page I believe, the one that shows threads most recently posted in. When i try to refresh the screen, or sometimes even when opening it originally I get the error message and it says "no results" instead of showing threads. I usually have to completely xlose down tapatalk and restart it to make it work. Any ideas on why this is happening? Also, sorry if this is confusingly written, I'm terrible with technology and struggle to type on a smart phone.

I refuse to sign in to anything using Facebook. FB already tracks everything you do when you are logged in, and even when you AREN'T. The only way to stop FB from tracking you (I think) is to use FB in a completely different browser and use that browser for nothing else.

  31. Glad to see this thread still popping up every now and then! I'm getting a big piece on my right thigh in September; that'll keep my legs asymmetrical. I kind of want to get something on the back of my left elbow so I don't look quite so symmetrical from behind (right now each of my shoulder blades are covered equally). Booo, symmetry! Haha. BUT I haven't ventured down either arm yet, and that'd be a big step for me, so still pondering. Found an artist I would LOVE to give some highly visible real estate to, though! He's in Germany, and I'll be there this fall. Coincidence? I THINK NOT

    good client behavior

Last time I was getting tattooed a guy came in for his appointment and he'd just about disembowelled himself trying to shave his stomach for the appointment, I think if you are handy with a razor, shave, if you're not maybe leave it for your artist. ;)

So glad to hear that he's feeling better! I am a bunny lover myself, however I'm in the bad books at the moment, Hermann is sitting in MY on the couch refusing to move or talk to me as I rearranged his designated area without his prior permission.

  40. Awesome thread. It's cool to see all the well done leg tattoos. It also reminds me that I have a lot more space on mine. Here is a shitty iphone pic I just took. I also have a stickishly drawn family portrait on the outside of my ankle with male/female guardian lions on the front and back of the ankle. Additionally I have several tattoos high up on my hip but I will spare you all from that. Yikes! Time to get planning the next leg tattoo I guess. [/img]

  48. I read an article a while back about a surgeon who had an appreciation of tattoos, and felt bad when he had to operate and cut a tattoo. He said that if he had the time, he would spend an extra half hour really working to line up the edges of the tattoo when he closed. I don't recall much about the article, but I got a real sense that he respected the work and wanted to honor the work and take the extra time to address the art as well as the medical procedure. Pretty cool. Makes me think that could be a consideration if it came down to two docs and you had to choose one!

  50. When I was in Australia a few years back , I was fortunate enough to get tattooed by Bev "Cindy Ray" Robinson. A small souvenier butterfly and I asked her to put her classic "Cindy Ray", with a little love heart for the dot above the "i", signature below it....she was a little taken aback, but was more than happy to do so. One of my favorites to this day.
