Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Kingdomhearts25 and 10 others reacted to CultExciter for a topic
I got this last night from Dave Regan while he is guesting at Classic Electric Tattoo in Frederick, Maryland. Beautiful shop, and town. I had just met Dave, but it felt like I was getting tattooed by an old friend. Fun times all around. Photo pilfered from Dave's instagram account. (@dutchraven)11 points -

It's been six weeks since the last session, but today we finally got to continue on my back. At first we just wanted to do the colouring of the Kitsune, but we even managed to put all the blue in the coat. All this was done 4 hours (of agony :) ).9 points -

That'll be a fun one for the kids to see at the water park! Last time I went I was getting a nasty look from a parent for a nekkid pinup on my leg at eye-level with their son & daughter.... This'll trump that.6 points -
Andre is the man, that piece is UNREAL!! I had a session with Grime yesterday, Andre hung out most of the day and I FINALLY took delivery of the 2 watercolor paintings I bought from him. He's a bad ass tatooer, expect big things from that man in the future, between his own amazing style and whatever the Skull and Sword guys do to influence his style he''''s going to be killing it. If Grime wasn't doing my back, Andre would be. No question.5 points

What's your longest tattoo session?

Whether one sits an 8, 4, 2 or 1 hour session, it's still time under the machine in my book. Every hour is painfully earned.3 points -
Just woke up after a late night session #7 on mine. Have a great time!3 points

Gaaaaah. That special feeling of pooling blood, ink and plasma dripping down your back under the saran wrap, waking up after a late night session. Definitely brewing some coffee before dealing with this mess. Bummed, we couldn't finish up all the details on the angelfish scales last night because he said my skin couldn't take any more abuse. Hate having unfinished sections.3 points

I'm going in on Tuesday for more work on Kongo Yasha. And hey I was looking all over, maybe who ever originally posed the question will see this post; Who ever asked why sometimes Fudo's eyes/teeth are portrayed as one up and 1 down, I happened to be flipping through Monmon cats and remembered this page.3 points

Got another 3.5 hours today. I am so excited to add to my piece. Anyone else have work being done ? I always look forward to seeing others3 points

I wanted to resurrect this thread (because it's a great one, one of my favorites on this forum) to share these legs in progress by Mike Shea. I think they're gorgeous. I'm sure a lot of folks on here have seen these, but it hopefully it doesn't hurt to bump good old discussions to the top.3 points

I just saw a post from Grime saying that Andre Malcolm is moving to Skull and Sword. I never heard of the guy, so I check out his Instagram... all back pieces. This one is intense. I bet it takes someone to be very strong in character to get this on their back.3 points -

I've been seriously thinking about getting a Chad Koeplinger flash illustration of an owl with a flaming head. I saw it while I was getting tattooed in Ohio and immediately wanted it tattooed on me but felt conflicted because, well, it's an owl. But it's an owl with fire...2 points

What's your longest tattoo session?
peterpoose and one other reacted to SeeSea for a topic
Okay, this is just a first pass - nothing is done except maybe the sea snake but there are no highlights or shadows for him yet either. On the right, hidden are two unfinished clownfish in an anemone. He'll keep laying things out to get the whole design before he goes back to finish each part completely. Next up will be some fish and coral on the right, and in the middle will be the deep blue with some shadowed critters in the distance. Kinda frustrating that nothing will be finished until everything is finished at the last minute! FYI - This is a sea scene made from a number of pictures I've taken while diving. The sea snake I chased all over the bottom trying to get a close-up of him, only later to find out how poisonous he is! Oops! And I just love my eels!2 points -
New guy intro
gougetheeyes reacted to Seldomwright for a topic
Hi guys, I'm new here. Chris from Oakland, via SF, via NC. Not at tattooer, but an illustrator for SF Bay area skate industry(DLX) for going on thirteen years now. 40 year old punk with a four year old prince. Stoked on the site. Watched every one of the interview videos. Both enlightening and entertaining. Figured I'd chip in and join the fun, say hello and see what's up. Very interested in tattoos and the art of tattooing. I've tried, it's beyond humbling. Stoked on getting tattooed soon. Anyway... Hi.1 point -

March 15, 2014 - September 8, 2014 Bodies in Balance: The Art of Tibetan Medicine The Rubin Museum of Art 150 West 17th Street New York, NY 10011 The first major exhibition to present the origins, history and practice of a millennium of visual history, Bodies in Balance explores the guiding principles of the Tibetan science of healing represented in medical paintings, manuscripts, and medical instruments. A multi-media installation shows how Tibetan medicine is used today. Approximately 140 objects dating from the 9th century to the present day demonstrate the advancement of Tibetan medical knowledge as it was codified in medical texts, illustrated in art, demonstrated by medical tools, and made evident by examples of medicines compounded from natural ingredients and applied in practice.1 point

Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
tatB reacted to Tesseracts for a topic
I took off the Saniderm 2 days ago, and left it off. Everything's fine now, except I got one small scab on one of the leaves. I don't think it's going to wreck anything, but it's horribly itchy. I'm annoyed that I have a scab but at least it's only one.1 point -

This tattoo is itching A LOT more than the last one. Last one barely itched at all. Maybe it's because it's tebori? I've been using aloe vera to soothe the itching, anyone else do this?1 point -

Disappointed In Artist's Behavior
Genie of the West reacted to Valerie Vargas for a topic
i hate hearing tattooers being referred to as 'up and coming'. it's a toxic description that makes you treat them as such. Treat him as the tattooer that he is, and if you dont like how he's treating you, walk away. don't feel like you have to get tattooed by him in order to make sure you get there before he blows up big. Ive heard this same exact scenario so many times...and like i said, referring to anyone as up and coming will make you treat them differently and theyll pick up on it, and possibly take advantage. if hes being so dismissive thats also his fault, or he might truely have just double booked himself. i find managing booking appts online and thru the shop simultaneously means fuck ups happen. cool down, then maybe go back and have a chat about booking in and leaving a deposit.1 point -

What's your longest tattoo session?
misterJ reacted to Avery Taylor for a topic
Six hours on my arm, and about four on my ribs. Not the in same day, but those are my two longest sessions. The guy on the cover of the Gods and Warriors, Chris Trevino, book would come down to Austin and sit for eight hours a day five or six days in a row. He would lay there getting his ribs done and talk to you like nothing was happening, and he is probably twenty years older than me. I have never seen anyone sit like that before or since.1 point
