  6. So odd she would call herself a cleanskin. In aussie, cleanskin is a term for wine which doesn't have the winemakers name on the label and is generally sold a lot cheaper. I guess she's calling herself cheap! Ha!

Cork - Awesome work! Dana is one hell of an artist. I got halfsleeve from him late last year/early this year. Can't wait to see your finished product.

  9. I gotta agree with the sound advice already given above. Faaark the wings, go the full eagle. Not only are eagles the epitome of cool, they're timeless, and as a kick arse tattoo you will love it weather your 18 or 80. Ditch the superman idea, that'll go down as "the tattoo I got when I was 18". Full blown eagle, either smashed on the chest or across the front would both be shit hot. But in saying this, this will be your 1st tattoo mate. A major piece em blazed on your front is no walk in the park. But don't let that make you opt for a little piece you may regret later just to test the waters. Maybe...work out a killer half sleeve or something on your arm, then progress to a more challenging part of the body. But then, I also know fellas who have gone hard core, straight up tattoo number 1. Either way, the consistent advice here is choose well. This is my eagle smacked under my chest. Eagles are rad!

  12. Hi Faolan, I havent gotten my chest tattooed but it sounds to me like thats probably the cause.. however if you are concerned give your artist a ring.. don't hesitate to do so as they know far better than us the affects tattooing has on the body. Hope the swelling goes down for you and it's not causing you too much bother! Well i managed to survive getting my sternum tattooed yesterday! I was really worried about it after being told horror stories and also because i'm incredibly self concious of that area! I did indeed need to have my boobs out for a short amount of time getting the stencil on etc... i was really really embarrased while that was happening.. however my tattoo artist was an absolute gentleman. He ensured we had privacy , talked to me the whole time i was derobed and put me totally at ease. Everyone else in the shop was incredibly respectful too. By the end of it i couldve walked around the shop with my top off and not cared haha!! Its amazing how quickly you get into it. The suggestion of vest underneath a softer bra is an absolute godsend today so that's definitly got my vote too!

  15. My son was about 16 and had real long black hair... one day he calls me and says he decided to go for a mohawk haircut. My wife went with him and they had a flyer on the wall about Locks of Love and he donated his hair. They banded it up, chopped it off in one shot. That was nice of him and anyone else who does this for others. Rob

  16. Agree. A full eagle would be waaaay cooler than just the wings. Chest eagles are always awesome. Always.

  20. Right, it was just used in the thread title lightly, as a joke. I don't actually call anyone that in person... Although, on an Australian morning show, the untattooed woman speaking about tattoos on women being a mistake, referred to herself as a "cleanskin". I guess that would make us....dirty. ;) Anyway, funny story about the tv!

Heavy blue session. Not a great pic, but you get the idea. From Dana's instagram. Also, @Bunny Switchblade it was a pleasure to meet you and your husband yesterday. Again, sorry I wasn't a great conversationalist, I thought I'd be doing better off than how I really was!

  26. @ThatGuy - I love when I gawk at awesome shit on IG and then find out it's on a poster! Totally worth the nausea. :) I am not sure if I ever posted my completed back on here. Done by Stephanie Tamez at Saved in Brooklyn, from summer 2012 to summer 2013. I loved the journey and love the tattoo(s?) and it feels like it's been on my back forever. The map was my first ever tattoo from a long long time ago that we worked around, although she pumped it up a bit to integrate it into the larger composition.

  28. I made a halfass bs promise to not add more tattoos to my neck shortly after starting to date this girl, not really meaning it because I thought it was just pillow talk ("I love your neck, let me just have that one spot" "Sure babe"). Lesson learned about how serious that promise was, I figured it was fairly obvious I'd get more eventually. When I said I was about to do that (phone call, naturally) I got the DONT YOU FUCKING DARE DO THAT and after some bickering I got the FINE GO AHEAD AND DO IT (which never really means 'fine' but we all know that, I just heard all I wanted to hear)and never lived it down. Years later even after we aren't together if it comes up she'll still say how much she hates that bird hahah

  36. Yoni is a really nice cool guy too. I was complimenting a dragon tattoo he had on his instagram. He asked me if I wanted one. I said yes, but my wife used her veto power and said no to dragons because they look evil and scary. He replied, not my dragons, I do happy dragons. Kind of funny.

    Tattoos and the workplace

Something postitive from my side... I work at the national air traffic control center in Switzerland, as an Aeronautical Information Management Controller. Sounds pretty uptight, right? I had some doubts if tattooing my arms would be a no-no. However when I learned that they hired a girl with neck tattoos, I went for it. Here's the exchange from a superior several management layers above me: Her: New tattoo? Me: Yes Her: Ooooooh show me! Me *shows outlines of Oldschool Pirate Girl and Ship Halfsleeve* Her: Wow thats beautiful! But you get it colored in, right? Me: Sure I do Her: Cool you have to show me immediately then End of story. Also, several coworkers who have expressed prejudice against tattooed people actually admire mine. Work relationship has not changed in the slightest, but instead even improved. A lot of coworkers now come to me for recommendations. Nice talks ensue.
