it's fine I'm sure, it doesn't look infected just healing slowly; I'd tell you if it were a concern. Some new tattoos on some people just get a milkyish appearance for a few days or weeks. It's brand new skin growing back just like any normal scrape that has 'baby skin' after the scab comes off. I've seen some reds look pink after the peel but come back to vibrant red by the 3rd week or so. Best advice is to just apply the aftercare religiously just as usual. It's a couple of weeks old I'm guessing? Motor City con from your description of recent show in Detroit? I'd say wait a full 4 weeks from the day it was done, and then evaluate what it looks like. I do NOT recommend asking a doctor for advice. Trust me on this; all too many times I have seen a doctor jump the gun on a slow or poorly healing tattoo (out of pure ignorance is all) and take drastic measures when all it might need is some time to settle down and then evaluate. Some lady got a red reaction (not an infection) on her foot and instead of coming to us to see what we thought she went to a doctor and he gave her a dermal abrasion. It sounds almost as bad as it looks now. Just a horrible spaghetti looking scar now when it could've just waited out a month and then touch it up. As far as your tattoos not healing like that; everybody's body is different and heals at a different pace. looks like Graeme summed that up shorter and faster than I did while I plunked out that reply on my keyboard. #beatmetoit5 points -

@Lance et al : PLEASE give a full report!!! Pics if allowed!! I really wish I could be there!! Junii hadn't quite yet decided the full dint of her lecture when I was there last week, so I am curious to know what she lands on. So if anyone goes, I can't wait to hear. Hopefully I can get back down to LA before September (and not October, thanks @Lance :p), because I definitely want to see in person. JEALOUS! Definitely meet up if you guys get a chance. @cltattooing and I were just discussing this over in the 'awesome things you've been doing' thread -LSTers are awesome folk. - - - Updated - - - The t-shirt helped ease me over the awkward hump at the Bay Area Convention. Because otherwise you're just people staring at people and that is kind of weird and possibly creepy until the LST connection is made. When I saw the shirt I was able to point and grunt excitedly (i was still awkward ;p) and I think that's how I met @Scott R, @ian and @cvportagee - easily identified by the shirt.4 points

If this is a real post and not some elaborate keyword troll, I don't think that's the kind of information anyone might readily share (nor should they be asked, in my opinion) either in the tattoo shop or online. Aside from being very personal, it has very little bearing on the solution to the problem. In this (or similar situation) my advice would always be to cover it with a great looking, high quality tattoo. Japanese style tattoos work very well for that.3 points -

Thanks you everyone, I totally love it! The sternum was an 8 of 10 pain wise wasn't pleasant the nipple was a 10 on a mans scale of pain lol but it only lasted like 10 mins... First day we did only 6 hours as we spent like 4 hours perfecting the picture and stencils and by 6 hours of work it was 1am and my Mrs had had enough so we called it. Second day 14 hours! I am considering lasering y Remis piece as letting carlos do my whole front, we have some great ideas for it and the Remis piece just doesn't fit in2 points -

(Sorry Harry, just had to.) This just reads "Business cliche, university student idealism cliche, I'm super progressive cliche... Touch base... Shift paradigms... Revolutionize outside the box..." I'm all for fake it till you make it but this kind of generic patter is so transparent. Also when someone shows you exactly where to read some pertinent information about your questions, including opinions from some extremely well respected tattoo makers, but your response is not to read that information but just ask "what's wrong with it?" then we have nothing for you here. Good luck.2 points -

Well, that was a complete fail of a thread! :-/ But, for completeness, I thought I'd update it. They've raised over £12,000 (>$20,000)! They've done a marvellous job, both the organisers and everyone who donated art. I hope this gets picked up by the UK press, it'll make a nice change from the usual negative focus that tattooing gets.2 points -

@DJDeepFried I read that article and it annoyed me, but I don't completely hate it. I think it's telling that this "existential anguish" he's writing about comes from his Red Hot Chili Peppers logo tattoo, but when he talks about the swallow he got at Adorned, he says simply that he likes it and that it reminds him of the place and time he got it. And sure, he may have had all sorts of pretentious aspiring-writer in his early-20s reasons for getting that tattoo, but when it comes down to it, it's a tattoo of a bird. The "meaning" of that tattoo has probably shifted a hundred times since he got it, which is something you can't say for tattoos that have a very literal meaning attached to them. I took the survey because the OP seems like she's making a genuine effort to interact with us here--very much unlike other people who came here asking for similar things--but I don't think this line of inquiry is ultimately very useful because it's trying to make generalisations where they can't be made. I don't want to be Captain Obvious here, but not all tattoos are equivalent and looking at tattoos as if a tattoo is a tattoo is a tattoo, which I feel this survey does, (to be fair to the OP, there is some nuance in the survey but the problem with using quantitative methods to explore this subject is that you're going to lose specificities) isn't going to give much useful information. Most of the regular posters here get tattoos because we like tattoos and we like the art of tattoos. That's going to be a whole different thing than somebody who gets tattoos to symbolise meaning. There are a bunch of other things I could get into here but I'm not going to because I'm already bored of writing this.2 points -

Absolutely none of these nonsense topics are worth discussing. It is actually embarrassing to be an active member of a forum that gets so easily side tracked by complete shitheads. Lets all (myself included) make a better effort to talk about good tattoos and only good tattoos. Ignore everything else.2 points -
And likewise I had an awesome time with @cltattooing! She was very nice to me as I choked on ceviche. It takes a lot to be graceful in that situation, hah! Looking forward to next time :) Also I got tattooed and it was awesome and I'll post pics when I get some proper ones. Much agreed with @cltattooing - so far all of the LSTers I've met have all fallen under the category of "good people" - so here's a round of back patting for us all. :p ALSO I had some really good news that I don't quite want to voice just yet, but suffice it to say that some seriously awesome stuff is happening lately and can't wait to share it when I can do so without jinxing. :D2 points

I've been looking at a lot of tattoo cover-up pictures recently and figured it'd be cool to see what cover-ups LSTers have both gotten as well as tattooed. So if you have before and after pictures please post them up. Here's a recent one I found on Sarah Schor's Blog from King's Avenue in New York. I really like the use of the hair in this lady head to cover-up the old tattoo lettering. For me I enjoy seeing cover-ups that could stand on their own without being a cover-up. What I mean is yes the old tattoo is not visible but had you not had to have it placed where it is you would get in anywhere and anyways. Lets see 'em.......1 point

Even more pivotal video was Ban This. The Frankie Hill segment especially; his part blew everyone's mind. Ramps were not always or easily accessible, and nobody had seen street skating like this before. Between Frankie's part and Ray Barbee's part this just made you want to go out and find a good curb or bank or stairs and kill it. This was being filmed in '88 & '89; crazy stuff for that time. Shit, still is. If me or my friends did half of these tricks on a session today it would still be awesome.1 point

Hi, @Taylor Killings. As several posters have already made clear, Last Sparrow is not a place you'll find tattoo artists to fill the roster at the shop you plan to open. I'll leave it at that. Now, if you have tattoos on your person (or that you've done) that you'd like to share, those would be welcome. Just understand that by asking professional tattooers to work at your as-yet-unopened shop when you are still but an apprentice, you have likely rubbed many people here the wrong way.1 point

Including myself we have four 40+ skaters from our shop that still go to local skateparks on the regular. Still ripping. Liquigels homie. That's the magic right there. Oh and wristguards too..... Honestly I used to comment all the time but i put this site on my strike list for a while because of this exact reason. Thanks for sharing your experiences too. Not saying i've never said anything negative but some of us .. it seems like they go on this site constantly and look for questions that could be dumb questions. While I do think some of these questions are dumb or whatever we all could choose to not answer them and do something more productive with our time... No? I understand some of us have amazing tattoos and probably heard it all but WE ARENT TATTOO ARTIST!! How do we know what tattoo artist are annoyed by??? Actually all the artist that I've been in contact with have been super nice and professional. Also if someone walks in a tattoo shop with no tattoos and ask questions like .... I'm sure that these artist are more than happy to explain . If someone who has a lot of tattoos then that is another story. I feel extremely lucky to have tattoos from these amazing artist! Jumping on anyone who has a question that you may think is basic or stupid then we have a choice. Either we can understand where they are coming from and answer or don't answer at all. Oh in this day in age they should know already.. Really!???1 point -
I might actually try and go to this one. I doubt I'll have cash to get a tattoo, but it's close enough for me to warrant going just to meet some of you guys. Plus I know Dave Fox will be there and I'd like to show him how well my chest has aged since he popped my virginity and potentially brainstorming an idea to bridge the gap between his chest panel and Dana's back piece. And hell, maybe I'll even enter the back piece contest for fun. It should be done by then.1 point

Final session on my back with Rubendall today. It's bittersweet. So happy to have this portion of my back finished but will miss the fun times with Rubendall. Great gentleman, incredible artist and shrewd businessman. The complete ball of wax and then some. I still have some appointments booked and I'm thinking about starting something new with him. Henning will top things off end of this year when he'll be visiting and doing his usual guest spot at Kings Ave! Enjoy the pics! Eyes, spine, and the orb/pearl Filled in some more flame work as well Rubendall said when after the orb/pearl is full healed, it'll lighten up to a bit of an iridescent affect. If you don't understand art, fucking learn to. Jesus fucking Christ. No one was born with this skill. Look at good art, well painted or drawn works that respect scale and color, not some chick's deviant art. The entirety of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art is available to view, for free, online. There are all of the Tattoo Age videos you can watch to see great tattoos and tattooers. If you won't learn to fucking understand art, we're not going to teach it to you. This isn't high school, we're not being paid. If you want to get a big boy tattoo take some goddamn responsibilities. You have repeatedly asked the same questions, and seemingly just thrown out anything you see at us. We are not your filter. We cannot and will not hold your hand. There is a time to ask questions, and there is a time to reflect, and read, and research. To try for yourself to understand something. You need to do what Graeme said and lurk more, read old threads here. There is so much information on here that if you are thorough there will be no need for you to ask any of these kinds of questions. Please listen to me. Don't continue to badger this already haggard community. Take this into your own hands.1 point
