  4. I'm gonna arse up the RHW month combo with another Valerie Vargas piece! Even though most people know this, both Valerie and Stewart are seriously awesome people. If I had infinite skin and infinite money I could very happily spend all day getting tattooed and listening to their stories!

  5. Hey! So my mom and her choir are singing at Carnegie Hall this spring (rad!) and I'm coming along to be there with her for this major accomplishment, and to spend some time in the Big Apple. We'll be there May 31st through June 5th. I won't be working, but I do intend on checking out some of the incredible shops located within the city, and see some of the better things that NYC has to offer. If anyone would like to meet up and get dinner/beer/whatever, let me know! Also, I've gotten a few suggestions as to the fun non-touristy things to check out in the city, but would love some more suggestions. I am contemplating bringing stickers/prints/originals with me if anyone wants anything while I'm in town. Cheers y'all!

  6. I'll throw mine up as i've posted it in the 'latest' thread. Done by Frank Carter, not a bad 30th bday present to myself. - - - Updated - - - As a side note, the inside of the forearm is such an awkward bitch to heal. I'm constantly leaning on the fuckin thing

  7. @OutOfIdeas congrats, that's great!!!! Saturday night I got to hang out with the wonderfully charming and badass miss @beez after she finished her apt with Junii at Diamond Club. 9 hours in two days! What a beast! Got tacos, coffee, walked around the Mission, talked tattoos and life. Really fun time. Sunday I tattooed @MadeIndelible after being interviewed for his zine project. That was a really interesting experience. I've never been interviewed before and I feel like I word vomit a lot, haha. Anyway, I'm not trying to circle jerk here, but I really recommend anyone take up the opportunity to kick it with LSTers off the board. Every single one of you that I've met so far has been really awesome. Like genuine quality folks.

  8. Our office just instated a new "work from home" policy where we get one a day a month to work from home (big whoop... lol) BUT now I don't need to take a day off the day after a tattoo... I can just hobble around my house instead :) ...and save vacation days for something better HA

  9. Collar wrap is all done and healed! Lion & Snake were made by Shawn O'Connor in Oct 2013 and Jan 2014, respectively. Eagle was made by Chris David

Well, we didn't manage to make it 5 hours, I gave up after 3.5 hours :) But we did cover a lot of skin in those three and half hours, so I think we did OK :) Next session in two weeks... can't wait ;-)

  16. And likewise I had an awesome time with @cltattooing! She was very nice to me as I choked on ceviche. It takes a lot to be graceful in that situation, hah! Looking forward to next time :) Also I got tattooed and it was awesome and I'll post pics when I get some proper ones. Much agreed with @cltattooing - so far all of the LSTers I've met have all fallen under the category of "good people" - so here's a round of back patting for us all. :p ALSO I had some really good news that I don't quite want to voice just yet, but suffice it to say that some seriously awesome stuff is happening lately and can't wait to share it when I can do so without jinxing. :D

  17. If you are interested in some tattoo history then hit Brooklyn and stop by and get tattooed by Mike Perfetto and even Tony Polito is tattooing again (for now) on Saturdays! Smith Street is a definite need to stop by as well! Many good shops and awesome tattoo artists.......you'll have a blast!

  18. Yeah actually I need to get tattooed by Mark Cross. That's a thing that needs to happen. (calling the shop tomorrow?)

  19. I got the job I was hoping for! Wont make very much hourly for the first three months, but after that I should make good money. And the company offers an awesome profit based bonus system, which will most likely lead to my car being paid off quickly, a Triumph motorcycle, and some rad tattoos. Not necessarily in that order. I may be thinking a bit far ahead, but damn im happy now!

  20. Even though I was never actually good at it, skateboarding is probably one of my biggest and earliest influences in life. In the late 80s or early 90s during the summers in the shitty little town where I grew up, the curling rink was converted into an indoor skatepark with half pipes and even though those ramps were terrifying and I couldn't actually skate them for the life of me, that skatepark is where I first heard punk rock. Thrasher magazine was like a bible: I read about Youth of Today in there, it was through Thrasher that I was introduced to artists like Pushead and Jim Phillips, there were the Skate Rock tapes and the Sessions ads always selling t-shirts with the Misfits skull on them. I treasured those magazines. Actually skating went in and out of my life and I don't think I've actually been on a skateboard since high school. I think about starting again from time to time, but then I remember that I'm old and my body hurts at the best of times as it is. But even so, I like going on Youtube and wasting away hours watching skate videos. Anybody else? What are your favourites? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rVLguwR5o8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHj-nlam4C4

  21. This is going to sound snobbish but does anyone else have a really difficult time having an enjoyable conversation about tattoos with a non-tattooed person? It seems like they always push the conversation towards: laser removal, their super meaningful/personal tattoo design idea and the long story behind it, reality tv, infection/disease, or other similar non-sense.

  22. Was recently at a party uptown in NY and had trust fund / rich / spoilt girls genuinely ask me how i support myself / live whilst having tattoos. No joke.. When i asked why they hadn't got tattoos themselves they simply said, because ' father would cut me off and not pay my rent' i looked blankly for a second then walked off.... They lived a 20 minute train ride to Brooklyn and had never been, even though they had lived in NY their entire life. Blew my mind for a couple of minutes then just thought how lucky I was to not be them.

  23. I often wake up and feel that i want to get tattooed that day so i just head over to smith st or green point and go and pick a recent painting from one of the guys, or ill have a time space booked and turn up and just talk until we decide on something...some of my best and favorite tattoos have come from approaching it like this, I don't feel there should be a correct process or time frame to getting them, i just love it!!! haha

  26. If it's not an infection, let the tattoo heal more... give it some time. Healing tattoos can do all sorts of wacky stuff before they are fully healed. I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that it takes 3 months to completely heal a tattoo. Usually after a month it's mostly healed and you will know if you need a touch-up. Have some patience! If you're still worried, contact your artist or the shop where you got the tattoo.

  30. Absolutely none of these nonsense topics are worth discussing. It is actually embarrassing to be an active member of a forum that gets so easily side tracked by complete shitheads. Lets all (myself included) make a better effort to talk about good tattoos and only good tattoos. Ignore everything else.

  38. When I got my first tattoo I was worried about clearly expressing what I wanted. My solution was print examples from that artist's online portfolio so I could point and say I like this style of waves, flowers, koi, etc.
