  3. I posted an earlier pic of this chest piece, but today Tim Pausinger at The Pearl in Toronto finished things up. I'm super pleased with the results. Tattooing on and around nipples sucks. Worth it in the end though. Now, planning for an epic back piece begins. Oh FFS. Why is this image sideways. F' it. I'm going for a nap.

  4. So nice! @Mark Bee Finished off my ribs with William Yoneyama, was a longer session than the first but so much harder, nearly tapped at one point but powered through. here's a snake preview, will post a full shot when it's healed.

  5. Got my feet done by Aaron Coleman last night. Great guy, super happy how they came out, and he was fast enough to get both done before I completely wussed out. They wrap a bit, but you get the picture.

    Kitsune

I couldn't find many examples either for kitsune ideas when I was looking around, but I just asked Seth Wood if he wanted to draw one for my back - fortunately he was interested. I think you just have to find someone you trust and go for it!

  10. Artist David Corden! We have tried something completely different work wise, totally out of mine and Davids comfort zones, it may not work but we tried for something different lol Brutally honest opinions chaps and girls lol we went for scribbly textured arty fartty style lol. We need to do more shading down the inside of the leg still and David said once its settled down we should see lots of textures. 10 hours on this and we still need to add more shading as its swollen really bad at the moment. What do you think?

  11. I was in yesterday in the morning. Chad took about 3 hours to finish all the shading and colour. It was fine for the first hour and then got a little intense. It's all good today though! Some seriously bold and bright colours!!! I'll post the pics when he does or for the march tattoo of the month thread. I'm feeling a little crazy about this, but I'm booked for tomorrow afternoon to get a Polito style parrot on my thigh. Got to take advantage while one if my favourite tattooers is in town!

Got my very own panther today. Tyson Arndt at Historic slammed this in about 2.5 hours. Couldn't be happier.

  15. So are you suggesting that artists should have a lawyer on retainer to go after anybody who infringes on their copyright? Because that's really the only thing I can think of that would, and in only specific cases, prevent people from ripping off artists. Ryan Begley who does Shirts and Destroy recently wrote a thing about Affliction ripping off S&D and how in his case, even with a lawyer on his side, he wasn't even able to get a cease and desist order against Affliction because intellectual property is a "grey area". I'm sure Affliction can afford better lawyers than Ryan Begley too. I don't know any artists who have the time or money to actually fight against every instance that somebody has ripped them off, and no, that does not "equal consent".

  17. It's easy to do a cover up of Sharpie with body paint. Or remove a temporary tattoo and put another temporary tattoo that looks better in it's place. Seemed to be most of what Bad Ink was.

  18. went in to ask him about getting an older tattoo fixed and ended up getting a spur of the moment tattoo. excuse the crappy pictures as I forgot to ask him to take a picture for me so I had to try to do it myself at home afterward.

  21. Actually, blasting your work all over the internet is the best way to protect it. The more people can recognize your work, the more people will notice when it's been stolen, and complain about it if the need arises. Artists can't have a career without publicity, if nobody knows their work exists, nobody is going to buy it. The bottom line is, you're completely wrong and nobody who knows copyright law would agree with this, in fact I think the only people who would agree with your argument are people who have a habit of stealing art without giving credit.

  28. This year's Montreal convention is still a long way off, but they just released the poster for the convention: Mike Rubendall did the poster and it's a truly great one. If past years are any indication, it'll be a while yet before we see what artists will be attending, but Val and Pierre from Tattoomania always do a tremendous job with the convention and get some of the finest tattooers from around the world to attend, it's held in a beautiful space, and it's a really fun time in a great city. We also had a little LST meetup last year and it was a real pleasure to meet some of you in person. This year, the convention is going to start off at the Yves Laroche Gallery with a showing of new paintings from Phil Holt, Timothy Hoyer, Lango Oliveira, and Edu Cerro and if you've been following those guys on instagram you know that the show is going to have some pretty spectacular pieces in it. Anyway, here are links to the convention: website instagram facebook Who is planning on going?

    Coverup/Removal

I would say you have much much more discomfort than before in front of you whether it be cover up or lightsaber. Or you can skip all that and take it to the grave. That's about the size of your 3 options.

  31. Wow, awesome @peterpoose !! I'm just a noob, so no critique from me either. I will say that I've been following your journey with your many artists, and what I really want to know is, once your journey is over (and I realise this will be really soon), do you think you will miss getting tattooed or is the whole process just a means to an end?

    Telling My Parents

How about letting them know in an e-mail, giving it a chance to sink in a bit before having to see or talk to them in person? I got my first tattoo at 22 and my mom hated it. I'm 44 now, still getting tattoos, and my mom still hates them and tries to argue with me about it. I argue a little and laugh it off. She loves me anyway and I love her anyway! I post my tattoos on facebook. At first I was blocking my mom from seeing them (I figured I'd protect her from having to see something that would upset her) but now I don't block her because I figure maybe it will desensitize her. Hasn't worked yet, oh well. My dad, on the other hand, is very supportive of anything I do and thinks my tattoos are cool. Yay dad!

    Old tattoo photos

The beardo on the left is a fireman. The bold letters on his front identifies him as being in the "Chi" group of firemen. The text on his right identifies where he's from Sensoji in Asakusa, Tokyo. I believe it was common for firemen to get tattooed for id purposes if they died on the job.

  43. update! @Mike Panic @YOMONEY below are pictures after two pico sessions; right before going into my third session today. laser time was considerably less this time considering all my shading's gone so there's less area to go over. really bummed about all the hyperpigmentation though. so after being less than impressed with the results after my first session, i insisted my dr. to really burn this shit up (he had strongly advised against the settings i requested but i wouldn't have it any other way) so for my neck, he went from 3.7mm to 3.2 and 3.7 to 3.6 for my sleeve and wrists. results were amazing but left me with some scarring on my neck. so this time this is what we did: neck: 3.5mm // 2.08 J/cm2 // 10 hz // 2 minutes sleeve and wrists: 3.6mm // 1.96 J/cm2 // 10 hz // 27 minutes total pulses: 2208 for the red on Poison's face and lips, we use YAG you can probably tell the first photo is what my Lady looked like before i started treatments. :( [/img]

  47. them lettering book are a "stepping stone" to what can be done. the truth is, if you trace the letters directly out of the book, it totally shows. there is nothing like hand drawn letters. even when i do OE letters, ill tape tracing paper over the original style and then redraw my version of them directly on top. hand drawn letters have much more soul in them than any traced letters will ever have.

  49. about 7 years ago, when i worked at deluxe, i was doing a kanji on this chick's lower back. she was doing ok, then got a little light-headed. so, we stopped, i let her sit down, got her some water, her friend gave her candy. waited about ten minutes, she was feeling better, chatting, color came back in her face. she seemed totally fine. so, we decide to finish up( there was literally one minute left on the tattoo.) she takes a final swig of her water and takes two steps toward the trash can, to throw out her cup. SHE PASSES OUT STANDING UP. !!!CRACK!!! she hit the floor unconscious, no reflexes, face first. it sounded like a bat hitting a baseball. it was the scariest sound ever, and we were stunned. for a second we all just stood there with our mouths open, then the silence was broken by the chick's eerie moaning. blood was pooling out around her head and she seemed REAL confused and in a lot of pain. she was crying and not getting up. so, i called 911, they show up pretty quick, paramedics come in and i tell them what happened. in the most non-challant way, dude glances at her, then back at me and pulls his sleeve up to show me an old armband..."hey bro, how much would it be to fix this up?". i repeated that she was bleeding and in pain and he says "she'll be ok, probably just broke her jaw." his buddy is behind us looking at flash! so, they finally take her out on a stretcher and off to the hospital. i start cleaning up the blood, and notice her teeth left an indent in our floor. SHE HIT HARD. so, her friend is on her way out and is quietly giggling, and i ask what is so funny? she says "well, in the last week her boyfriend dumped her, her car got stolen and she got fired. she was hoping this tattoo would turn her luck around." it was the kanji for "lucky".
