    Chest/Torso Tattoos

. Here is an older pic of my chest Pieces. The dragon part was done but Amar Goucem Who is at Greg Ori dragon tattoo in Eindhoven holland. The center piece was done by Yushi Takei (Horikichi). when we where working at the Amsterdam tattoo right now he is traveling around. Left panel was done by Jeroen Janssen an artist which I saw grow from doing shitty cherry creek flash to doing awesome custom tattoos The name was done by Tycho Veldhoen. At Schiffmacher and Veldhoen tattooing (hanky pankys shop) Amsterdam. The roses on the throat were done by Robert boy smith. At wild things Venlo Holland. . An amazing young artist who took footwork and gave it his own spin. I wish i had better pictures.

  5. "I want a sleeve. You know, clouds and stars and shit." So we did a painting of a sleeve of clouds and stars and....shit. Actual turds, with bits of corn in them and everything. Strangely enough people start to get a bit more specific when we whip it out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. Booking my dad in for a neck tattoo with Freddy Negrete in San Angelo, hopefully. All of his Charlie Cartwright work is from about 30 years ago, so it'll be a good continuation of that. He also doesn't know that we're getting him booked yet, although I think he suspects I'm up to something.

  8. I think the most important thing here is to go to an artist who does tattoos that you get excited about and that you trust, give her your ideas and let her figure out what will or won't work. In general though, I'd say that it's better to keep things simple and not try to fit too much in a single tattoo, because that's what other tattoos are for. Also, don't worry about giving her ideas that in retrospect might seem stupid...I'm sure we can all look back at some of our tattoos and think "what the fuck was I thinking asking for that"...part of the fun of getting tattooed is that there's this whole learning process involved that you can really only get from actually getting tattooed.

  9. Little Medusa Spider action on my very upper thigh, not a fun spot to get tattooed! He's going to add some webs behind her another time, the last thing I wanted after shading this thing was some thin liner work... - - - Updated - - - YES YES YES!!!

  10. beautiful! I really love how this thread took off! thanks again to all who posted pics! I will try and find a link to the video, but there is a show we watch called river monsters. Jeremy Wade looks into legends of river monsters then traces back what would have sparked them. In one episode he travels to Japan and discovers a legend about there river monster responsible for riverside disappearances of children. There are signs around the rivers warning people to stay away from the river for fear of being dragged off by this creature. There have been people report their children missing and believe this is the beast responsible. Anyway he traces it back to the giant salamander as they would be capable of swallowing a small child whole and grow up to something like 6ft. anyway what I was getting at was- it would be awesome to see as a tattoo! with the traditional imagery of course- not the giant salamander ;) . again- I will track down the link of that episode !

The beardo on the left is a fireman. The bold letters on his front identifies him as being in the "Chi" group of firemen. The text on his right identifies where he's from Sensoji in Asakusa, Tokyo. I believe it was common for firemen to get tattooed for id purposes if they died on the job.

I pillaged this one from Tomas Tomas's instagram and he said there that he got it from the Yokohama Tattoo Museum: That suit is so striking and powerful. I will readily admit that I am pretty ignorant about tattoos, and this photo really hammers that point home: I had no idea that there were Japanese bodysuits done like that with the heavy black and negative space. Does anybody know more about this photo?

  17. Hey, guys my name is Randall Croley (Seven). I've been tattooing for 12 plus years now. I work from a private studio called Studio Seven Design. I'd just like to network and be in time with what's going on in the tattoo world. I've seen most of the interviews and I must say the information, perspective, etc are all very insightful from people whom care about our craft. I'd just like to be part of what tattooing is really about and make positive contributions and learn more.

    Embarrassing question

no, :) I wouldn't worry about it,IMO the majority of the "tattoo world" people don't care, half the time all our pride is out the window anyway,I spent 8 hours at the SF show with no shirt on and my pants & undies pulled down below my ass for a tattoo,I realized my inhibitions didn't matter that day ! so my point is,don't be embarrassed .most reputable people with integrity in the "tattoo world" IMO are pretty forgiving & non judging,or at least that has been my experience.

  19. Hello. My name is Joshua. I'm not a tattoo artist, I just have a lot of tattoos and love the craft. I actually found out about this site through an interview that was done with one of the tattoo artists who's done most of my work--Jeremy Swed from Inksmith and Rogers. Once I started looking through the forum, I figured it would be a great thing to join, as there seemed to be a lot of like-minded individuals on here. Aside from tattoos, music, traveling, Tim and Eric, VHS collecting(B-movies and such...nothing legit), and velvet paintings are some of my hobbies. I look forward to posting here and getting to know everyone. Hosanna.

  22. That sounds like a solid craft beer drunken night. Last night I drank just Stone Arrogant Bastard/Oaked among other stone beers. It was going fine until the Sake came out. Throwing up Hot Pot in your friends bathroom is not pretty. Just an FYI.

    Upcoming Tattoos

Heading down to the Bay Area a at the end of the month for some continued work on my back piece! Only actually we're working on my leg this time :p. I think another peony and some rocks to go with the karajishi on my thigh. I have two days booked, so we should get some solid work done :p. Junii is collaborating with 'Horitsukikage' (Shad) on the snake and hannya that will be going on my back, but as he is based in Belgium we prob won't start that til June or later.

  26. Same with me buddy - the most I could handle on my back was 4. And that was a solid 4, no messing around, no breaks, just 4 solid hours of shading, and my artist has a heavy hand holding a 49 mag. Felt like death at the end of it. To the person saying they think they feel bad for tapping out - don't. Get back for the next session, do as much as you can, whether its two hours or eight, then keep going back and going back until it's done. You will be proud of yourself at the end, guarantee it!

  37. Photo heavy post... I'll include the captions from the Life article where appropriate. Not going to post the whole Irezumi book because there's lots of images, and there's something magical about flipping through that thing... some things are best discovered through some digging. These are by far the coolest shots from it, though. The tattooer they cover is called Apache Harry. There's a shot of his travel kit and flash set up on the first page. He has a sign reading "Tattoos Removed Without Scars. Apache Harry. #22 Bowery NYC." "For decorating 'Six Ring' Dutch and other clients, tattooist Apache Harry makes $3,000 a year." "Front view of Michael Brandmaier. His 300 designs by Apache Harry are worth $400." "Rear view of Michael Brandmaier. It took four years to tattoo him all over." " 'Professor' Wagner is responsible for this girl's condition." Irezumi, 1966.

  38. I don't know, there are so many images that could represent love or family--and you would know that it represented your adoptive parents and the love and respect you have for them without being limited by that flat design. A cluster of roses, for example, one for each of you... or, well, the possibilities are endless.

    Coverup/Removal

Be wary of pictures like that. It looks great like that, but how is it going to look healed? How will it look 20 years from now? I think if I was in that guy's position that I'd rather get laser and have far more options. But seriously, talk to an artist and get a professional opinion because all we can do here is speculate on what will work.

  40. It doesn't wrap all the way around. And there is a lot of negative space. I figured I could get a black band that wraps around where the bottom tree line is and somehow could incorporate a mandala or geometrical type design to cover the rest. This guy does amazing stuff.

  43. thanks for this thread, there is some great stuff here. I have way too many moles on my back to be able to have a large piece there so my thighs are the largest swath of real estate I have for a large tattoo. I've been kicking around some ideas but nothing has really gelled into full on inspiration yet.
