  2. I also posted this in the backpiece thread, but i'm soo stoked i just had to put it in here too :-) Well, Since today I am an official member of the Back piece squad :) We had a (pretty brutal) 5+ hour start of my backpiece, we managed to finish all the lining (except for the big flower that need to go on my upper legs). Next session will be for lining the flowers and the rest of the leg part, and to start shading... I can't wait ;-)

    Old tattoo photos

I pillaged this one from Tomas Tomas's instagram and he said there that he got it from the Yokohama Tattoo Museum: That suit is so striking and powerful. I will readily admit that I am pretty ignorant about tattoos, and this photo really hammers that point home: I had no idea that there were Japanese bodysuits done like that with the heavy black and negative space. Does anybody know more about this photo?

  12. Did this one yesterday, 5.5 hour one shot. Tough girl! @Wilhell I know I've already said it, but I really love your backpiece. The powder blue with the orangey reds looks real slick.

  17. Photo heavy post... I'll include the captions from the Life article where appropriate. Not going to post the whole Irezumi book because there's lots of images, and there's something magical about flipping through that thing... some things are best discovered through some digging. These are by far the coolest shots from it, though. The tattooer they cover is called Apache Harry. There's a shot of his travel kit and flash set up on the first page. He has a sign reading "Tattoos Removed Without Scars. Apache Harry. #22 Bowery NYC." "For decorating 'Six Ring' Dutch and other clients, tattooist Apache Harry makes $3,000 a year." "Front view of Michael Brandmaier. His 300 designs by Apache Harry are worth $400." "Rear view of Michael Brandmaier. It took four years to tattoo him all over." " 'Professor' Wagner is responsible for this girl's condition." Irezumi, 1966.

  20. This is the kind of music I'm currently into as well. So many artists on here that I'm not familiar with though - I've got a lot of listening to do! Oddly, I've been listening to the New of Monsters and Men album a lot this week, and also just discovered Townes Van Zandt. Then this thread appears a day later. It's the kind of thing that makes me think there's a glitch in the matrix. Some that aren't mentioned that I like: The Tallest Man on Earth Iron and Wine The Decemberists

  21. I don't have the banhammer but lumping bluegrass and folk together with indie and alternative makes me want to pulp your balls with a hammer. That said, I always have time for some Townes: And I dig that 70s British acid folk stuff quite a bit too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFl6VlorBMo

  24. I have experienced some of this before. My thoughts are that it's probably scar tissue which has not fully settled in/healed up. A lot of bolder work can create scarring even if it's a really clean tattoo and it doesn't necessarily look off or out of place. Peoples' skin scars differently and heals at different rates, and I've had some tattoos that took several months to fully settle into the skin even after the scabbing and peeling is over. Anyway, that's my guess given some of what I've noticed with healing my tattoos. It might not necessarily be what's up with hers, but if it is, it'll probably go away within a few more months.

  27. Pulled the tegaderm off my ribs (pics in the latest tattoo lowdown thread) last night, this stuff is amazing. Barely felt it was there during the 72 hours it was on, had a little bit of fluid underneath but it all got reabsorbed, it came off easily in the shower, just hitting it with moisturizer now. Can't imagine how annoying it would have been to heal the belt line without it. Not having to mess with it for the first three days is worth the $20. Definitely on the bandwagon.

  29. @TaeTae, I find back of the thighs OK. The ass is way more painful. It´s actually awful! hehe.. Wow, that was a big question! My legs will not be in the same style as my back piece with traditional windbar background. My plan is to collect small and large one-shots on the rest of the body regardless of the style, and finally sew it all together with a kind of background. Maybe a flame background. I should also laser remove an entire sleeve and two other tattoos. A big project, but necessary. In October I travel to NYC / SF (with @Ninab and @Iwar) to get tattooed by Hoyer / O'Donnell / Lehi and hopefully Corbin. On the wish list for the future: Rassier, Leu, Mick, Roper, Sylvia Trevino, Ichibay, Bruno, Grime, Arriola, Deutsche, Whitehead and many more ..

  38. I went ahead and did a test run with a 6" x 8" sheet of Tegaderm.... Did a shave in my thigh, Bronners soap to clean, etc. left it on a few days, just because some guys had mentioned that they had some rash/irritation on the non-tattooed skin under the sheet. I didn't have any issues with the adhesive reacting on my skin, so I guess I'll move to stage two and use it for an actual tattoo. I'll post up my experience when I do it, with progress, etc. thanks again for the comments by people with experience , it's been real helpful
