  1. Got this super-awesome psychedelic-multi-eyed-alien-tiger colored in and finished up yesterday (black is healed). Flash and Tattoo by Theo Mindell at Spider Murphy's. Pretty stoked on this lil' guy!! You can check the pretty colors on his instagram: Instagram Or check out a crappy-hotel-room shot attached! What's that saying someone said around here about Tattoos being tough to photo because there ain't no lens that can capture the magic? Totally true in my experience....

I am man! :) I'm dying to see what he will come's up with design wise. It is going to be a full back piece going down onto my upper legs so we've got a long way to go :) - - - Updated - - - My back will be done by Bonel (Instagram) of Corazon Santo in The Netherlands, he also did both my sleeves.

  3. Here's my opinion: 1) It's been stated pretty explicitly that cost is not something to be discussed publicly here. If you're unsure, check out some other shops in your area and get a feel for what the hourly rates are. 2) Take the quote out: it's on the middle of your back (if I'm interpreting your sketch correctly) which you WILL regret later if you get into the whole tattoo-thing long term. That is prime real-estate. Also, the images you've chosen probably represent what you are trying to say anyway and the words will ultimately fall-flat in time (my opinion). For what it's worth, I agree with the author of this article regarding text on the body (you might not!): The Letter of the Law: Laws for Lettering and Tattoos | Occult Vibrations 2) I think both of the images could be stronger if placed elsewhere. I would put one on each upper arm. I think the kite-girl could be really cool in the right artist's hands, but I don't think the image is big enough to be a side-piece. Again, that's prime real-estate if you decide to get something larger in the long term. 3) Instead of feathers, why not something like a phoenix or bird-of-paradise or peacock? I think those animals tend to make for a stronger image. Good luck!

    Upcoming Tattoos

I can officially add "appointment with Horitomo" in my upcoming tattoos list! Scheduled for end of April/beginning of May. Very excited! So much for my "I'm done until I have enough money for my back" and "have to let husband get tattoos too" statements!

  7. Some progress on my frontpiece with my boss, Josh Cruse. Did about three hours of color in the snake all around my chest and belly. I have another sitting in two weeks, but I'll probably hold off on posting anything until we get it all done... after it's healed and settled, we'll touch up anything that needs it and add some pattern work in that minty green stripe on the snake.

I have not played that actually. I know it is very very good. I just don't have the time to dedicate to playing that and Fallout at the same tiome. When I am done with Fallout, I may purchase Skyrim though. :)

  12. Final session on my back with Rubendall today. It's bittersweet. So happy to have this portion of my back finished but will miss the fun times with Rubendall. Great gentleman, incredible artist and shrewd businessman. The complete ball of wax and then some. I still have some appointments booked and I'm thinking about starting something new with him. Henning will top things off end of this year when he'll be visiting and doing his usual guest spot at Kings Ave! Enjoy the pics! Eyes, spine, and the orb/pearl Filled in some more flame work as well Rubendall said when after the orb/pearl is full healed, it'll lighten up to a bit of an iridescent affect. Full moon close-up :o

  14. I have never used numbing cream for any of my tattoos. I'm always able to take the pain (most recent painful spots to date being the elbow and elbow ditch), but because I have super sensitive areas where I'm ticklish or get involuntary twitching even at the slightest touch, I wonder if numbing creams help this at all...? About 8 years ago, I started a pretty large piece right in the center of my back and I could NOT stop twitching no matter how much I tried to relax my muscles. That piece is still just an outline and I've always been afraid of finishing it because of the twitching. :( I would love to get work done on both my ribs in the future and I'm pretty ticklish on those areas as well. Has anyone used numbing creams specifically because they're ticklish?

  15. What these guys said. Getting tattooed is meaninful in itself, there's no need to force meaning onto a tattoo. Usually it just means that the strength of the tattoo is compromised for the sake of meaning. Don't get hung up on your idea. A good tattoo has everything to do with the skill and experience of the artist you go to. He or she will be able to design you something that's going to look good, that's going to fit well on your body and will age gracefully with it. The best idea in the world will never make up for poor tattooing. Money isn't important. This is on you for life, go to the best person you can. Pick up extra shifts at work or sell things if you have to. It will be worth it.

  20. @hogg there isn't a dislike option. “His short term plans include opening a tattoo parlor with his dad. They have talked about it for a very long time. It’s his dream for it to be a very high-end parlor, unlike anything currently out there.” Remind me to only go to seedier joints like King's Avenue. That place is totes a dump.

  21. Just keep getting rad tattoos. Eventually, you will get to a point where you won't care about the fairly minor specifics of that part of your arm. Don't worry, let it happen, if you have a cool little piece you want to get and it feels right to stick it in there...then do it!

  25. - - - Updated - - - Hi @rozone Thanks! one is Chris Conn and one is Scott Sylvia. I got Guadalupe first and then about 4 years later had finallly come up with my next idea. Since Chris had left the business during that time. I asked Chris who he suggested for the style I wanted. I shared my idea with him and he pointed me to Scott Sylvia, for which I am super grateful. Scott did a wonderful job with what I call "indigena" he nailed it. I know this may sound silly, but A big part of getting tattooed for me is feeling a connection to the artist. Both of these guys made the experience memorable for me. I wish Scott was my unkle. Nicest dude. oh and btw. I absolutely LOVE your 3 eyed lady, it's so beautiful and unique!

If we're talking man pin-ups, I gotta put this up here. Definitely a far cry from Tom of Finland! I think it would so fantastic for someone to pull tattoo inspiration from an old JC Leyendecker illustration. The guy was the top American illustrator from something like 1900 to 1930. Such a cool style! He really invented the classy American man. I wouldn't mind seeing someone do a take on that mermaid either. ;)

  46. I'm a secretary and I work at a university in an academic department. I have two small and discrete tattoos that are easily hidden under anything but a string bikini, and there's not much chance of my being caught dead in one since I stopped hitting the gym. I got them for myself, so I don't go out of my way to show them off to anyone. My "tramp stamp" shows if I'm bending over to pick something up but that's about it. My teenage daughter thinks its terrible that I have one at all, but hey! Mommy gets to have a life too. For the most part, I'm discrete about my tattoos and (when I was wearing jewelry) my belly button piercing. I'm getting a little old to have a belly button ring anyway. But I actually like the idea that most people would think I'm the LAST person to have any kind of body modification. When they find out that I have one they're usually really surprised. You can see that they look at you a little differently. I like that. Don't I get tired of trying to shock people, my husband asks. No, not really. I'm here to remind everyone that every single person you meet has a story, and it's usually not the one you expected they'd have. Funny story: I went to the grocery store and was in the pharmacy department. I stooped down look for something on the bottom shelf, threw my selection in my basket and went on my way. A few aisles later, an older gentleman, probably in his 70's, stopped me. He was very polite but he said he had to tell me that he saw me back in the pharmacy. He was getting his blood pressure measured at the machine and when he saw me stoop down and saw my tattoo...well dammit if it didn't cause his blood pressure to jump up! I blushed 10 shades of red. It was really cute.
