    Upcoming Tattoos

Yesterday I got my leg touched up by Rose Hardy while she is in town and then spur of the moment booked with Grez this summer to fill out the rest of my arm. Excited doesn't even come close to how I feel right now :)

    Greetings

These were taken right after it was finished, so the black is much darker than it is now. It's faded to a nce contrast from the gray wash and face.... - - - Updated - - - I'm tossing around a few ideas for my next couple of pieces. Something traditional American on my left forearm and a Japanese tiger to finish up the upper half of my arm with the dragon on it.

  5. It looks pretty good to me. Think you're obsessing a bit (as many of us do). Hard to tell if you're lying perfectly straight or the camera angle is dead center -- and even then the human body is not perfectly symmetrical without the use of Photoshop.

    Free year of Netflix!

I think you're referring to Casa Sanchez here in SF. $5.8 Million Tattoo / Sanchez family counts the cost of lunch offer - SFGate Many people have ridden the corn rocket. So many, in fact, that they stopped the promotion. But in searching for the above link, I found that they brought it back in 2010 as part of a "stimulus" package. It's not a bad logo as a tattoo, I gotta say. Believe it or not, I've never actually eaten there, but I have easily consumed my weight in their chips and salsa, included the last part of a bag of Casa Sanchez chips just yesterday.

  12. is it my imagination or is it that almost everyone talking about how this is a great idea, nothing wrong with it, etched etc are not tattooers? Can we get more working professional craftsmen to add to this?

  15. Recent conversation. Me - hi there, what can we do for you? Customer - look at this shit tattoo *shows some wobbly writing on her wrist obviously scratched on* isn't it rubbish? Look how crap it is. Me - we'll, it's pretty bad, yeah. Customer - that was done by **** at ****'s tattoos. It's rubbish, I hate it. Me - ok. Well, I can promise you we're a bit better than that, at least. Customer - so how much would it cost to get just a little name on my other wrist? Me - if it's just small it'd probably be our minimum charge, which is £25. Customer - £25? Fuck off. **** at ****'s tattoos (same place she'd just been complaining about) will do it for a fiver. I'll go there. Me - ..... You get the tattoo you deserve.

  16. Some recent stuff: this was my end of the trade with Olivia. We decided to use her birthmark as a nipple. And then this was a medical illustration of a humerus bone. This is actually on a dude who is from the same town that I apprenticed in. It was pretty nuts actually, he told me that he had gotten work done at the shop I was at, and turns out he had a tattoo that I had drawn for my mentor to use. Small world..

    Hi

Welcome to LST. We can point you in the direction of good shops, but any detailed cover up advice should be given in person by whomever you choose to do the work.

    Lady Heads

I've been loving the Gibson girl heads Ron Wells has been doing lately and was wondering if anyone on here has an adaptation of a Gibson girl. I particularly like "The Eternal Question" based on Evelyn Nesbit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, who has a pretty fascinating/tragic life story. I didn't used to think I'd want a girl head...

Couldn,t be more stoked with how it turned out! the picture of the tattoo was when i removed the wrapping after 12 hours. Really hard to take a good picture of it without it being shiney. Once its healed ill post a new picture

  29. Me and @Pugilist got matching tattoos again. This is from Doc Forbes flash and was done by Chris Hold at Sacred Heart Tattoo in Vancouver, BC. It was a super fun one and Chris was a great dude to get tattooed by. Couldn't be happier with the tattoo and the whole experience.

    Upcoming Tattoos

I'm anxiously awaiting the new year so that I can finish up my chest piece. It will be very nice to finally let the hair grow back. Then hopefully at the end of January I'll get to the stomach piece I've been struggling to get done for the past year. I'm in no hurry to get back to work, though. So I'm torn.

Update: New piece is happening. Put down a deposit today, appointment is January 20th. :) It's going to be a hare, with possibly a moth, foliage, and whatever else to help fill space and make it purty. After this is finished, my lower leg will be more or less complete and I get to move on to other projects.

  38. I am a stout appreciator of the holiday season. My house smells awesome, the shop has christmas lights up, and we're getting a little tree! I have also just put an end to a really unhealthy relationship that I've been engaging for like 6 years, and while part of me is sad, the bigger part is like FUCK YEAH, I'M FREEEEE

  40. We've done a few at our shop... the first one was in the summer of 2012, and we had a decent volume of people, about half new and half repeat clients. Several of the new folks have since been back a few times, one of them every few months to add palm sized pieces here and there. The second one was this last October, and we were barely busier than a normal Friday. But, of the two of us doing them, there were only two or three people that weren't regular clients, and they came with someone who was. The first one was mainly to get new people in the door, and the second one was more to try and thank our customer base. In those goals, we seemed to be decently successful. That being said, we don't intend to do them every Friday the 13th, because we'd prefer doing it as an occasional fun sort of thing, rather than a gimmick.

  41. December is a month that I get more cancellations than any other and that means a lot of spare time for me.. I find myself up til 4-5 in the morning, painting or drawing til either I get sick of that or I've had enough beer to put me out. Sometimes neither and I find myself at a junction of just painting really shitty, watching Dracula movies til the sun comes up..

  42. I don't respond "But, it's MY toilet!" when the professional (plumber, obviously) I have hired for the job gives me a suggestion based on his/her hard-earned experience....I might ask why they think that is the better plan, but ultimately that's why I'm paying them for the job: to make sure it gets done right.

  43. Our daughter is in a play, and they had their performance for the elementary school today. Tomorrow/Saturday/Sunday are the performances for the public. I've seen it many times b/c I went to all the rehearsals but I'm still excited to see it for "real". She has a pretty main part too!

    Why?

Fucked up priorities... will bite you on the ass every time. And how much more does it cost to have a quality piece done? Unless you're going to a kitchen magician. I just make the appt at my usual shop, come with a pocket full of $$$ and it takes what it takes. Rob
