Do dental hygienist online forums get this same kind of thing? "Long time lurker, first time poster. Just thought I'd join and feel this place out. I bought my own tools, can someone tell me if I'm doing this right?"

    LOST LOVE

I think sometimes that our good friend Scott is too humble to use LST to advertise Yellow Beak Press books. But I don't work for Yellow Beak, so I don't see a conflict in being geeked about a new book release and sharing it with folks here. I think that the Zeis book is one of the top 10 tattoo books at all time and will go down as a classic. Born Weird- it's a much more niche book but honestly, one of my favorite design books ever. I can't even say the title without thinking about the Gillespie Royboy Hotstuff devil. Now they have LOST LOVE coming out for a February 2014 release. Here's the video: I'm super excited about this one.

  3. Getting my leg filled in by Kore Flatmo. I know it's been said many times, but visiting Plurabella is such a freaking great experience. Still have the back of the thigh and the shin to do, but that's all I could take. Day 2 we just worked more on the cover up he's doing on my arm. I dont have any good pictures of that yet.

Can't remember who initially posted these, but I've had them on my phone at least a couple-three years. Not sure when they were done, but they're old, and by the man himself.

This picture posted Jill Bonny on her Instagram-profile 36 weeks ago. The man on the left is the same person you can spot in Ed Hardy's Tattoo Time - Music & Sea Tattoos. The back is from 1980 and still looks absolutely amazing.

I don't really understand your post, are you removing your tattoos yourself? As for coverups, you need to talk to a tattoo artist to see what is or isn't possible. Generally speaking, I'd recommend against using your own designs though. If you let us know where you live, I'm sure we could recommend some good people around you.

    Boom.

I think the best part of this intro is the feeling that I'm getting lately from LST and the rest of the tattooed world, that -- sorry, gonna get real emotional here -- as a wearer of tattoos, you wear them through your life and it becomes part of your journey. And sometimes it's flipped -- you go on your tattoo walkabout when you're a little more flush with cash and they can become the catalyst for travel, friends, for your life. That it's all intertwined. And shit, most of us on here don't even do this for a job. The other best part is obviously your Trevino tattoos and your killer appointments coming up. WELCOME, GODDAMNIT!

  12. It's probably always this bad and I just immediately forget as soon as it's no longer a problem, but my back is ITCHY AS FUCKING HELL. So a couple minutes ago I was in the print shop, noticed I was alone, and started to slap my back like a crazy person. This was of course the moment that someone decided to lead in a tour group of BFA applicants and their parents. I'm guessing not many of them will be declaring printmaking majors.

    My first

Looks to me like you have some bruising going on. The inside of the bicep tends to do that. If you are concerned at all, I emplore you to consult the person that did the tattoo. They will know how your tattoo and how their work heals the best. The person who did the tattoo will always be able to give you a better answer than any of us.

Hardy's talk on the black panther tattoo at 2013 Bay Area Tattoo Convention. Kudos to the production team that made this.

  16. My fiance is going to rehab for a month next week, so I have decided to spend the time he is away writing a letter to him telling the story of our relationship. I've been in a writing lull lately, but I think this will help me get through the next month with plenty of material and also will be a sort of catharsis for all the shittyness going on in our lives right now. We are en route to get married next summer or the following (should his sobriety stick this time around), so I'm hoping to give him this piece of writing as a wedding gift. Sorry for getting so heavy on this thread, but I'm stoked to start working on this and think it's an "awesome thing" :) I'm a firm believer in finding and holding onto happiness in our darkest moments.

    Hello All!

So, I am glad I found a site where tattooers and enthusiasts can come and talk and just be chill. I am an apprentice at a local shop with about 3 months or so left til I finish.

If you read the front flap of the book it sounds like the book is going to be as much about Ed Hardy the brand as it is about the tattooer, but the clothing stuff is covered in a chapter. The rest of it is about art, tattooing, and his life. It's a really good read.

  23. I was making a joke by suggesting that the only reason someone would get tattoos is to appear tough, and therefore it should be a good thing that people think you are tough because of your tattoos. Admittedly, these types of jokes don't work well through text (in fact, I've found that even in person people often don't catch my sarcasm). If we really wanted to look tough, we'd be getting shitty tattoos that nobody would bother us about (mayber because they would feel threatened). Instead, like an idiot, I just have to go out and get tattooed by good artists, and then I get old ladies bothering me about them in grocery stores and shit.

    Boom.

Love myself some awesome tattoos. Stoked about what is happening in the world of tattoo these days...amazing refinements of already awesome traditions and a lot of next level evolutions in technique and subject matter. Can appreciate all forms and styles. Prefer to wear more western traditionally styled work with a bit of Asian/Asian-influenced stuff thrown into the mix. BUT I still have A LOT of spaaaaaace and we all know how that goes :) ...anything could happen! I am both blessed and doomed to live in the Bay area of Northern California with tooooo much access to some of the most talented folks out there. Am definitely not above traveling overseas or who-knows-where to get work from someone who has caught my fancy. Celebrating (being in) my 10th year of marriage to my Hubbs with a tattoo odyssey that we have both been enjoying since January of 2013. First two tattoos from Chris Trevino (Perfection Tattoo - Austin) at the tender ages of 20 and 26 (late 90's). Getting tattooed right out the gate by someone who has put so much into their craft taught me more about tattoo than I think anything else could have and for this I am thankful. I love having tattoos. It has been such a great experience. I love hearing about other peoples tattoos. I want to be surrounded by tattooed people and their tattoo stories :o . Upcoming appointments are Horitomo in January, Theo Mindell (Feb-March), Stewart and Valerie (late April-May). Will take pictures of existing work and upload soon. I am pretty darned stoked and glad to be here. So thanks in advance, everyone, for that! :D

  29. My tattoo artist who started my full sleeve of the elements with Oni Demons has retired. He was out in California I live in Denver. I am trying to find some reference for Bonji symbols for Earth and Water. I have Fire and Air/wind on the upper half of my sleeve. I have a tattooist but neither he or I have any reference for these sacred symbols my last tattoo artist spoke of and imprinted on my body. Any help would be appreciated. -Mike

  32. Hey - thanks for the suggestion! The overhead for having those threads is relatively nominal actually, so from a cost perspective, there isn't much of a motive to delete threads. We also don't want to mess with people's post count and what not. ;) Anyways - thanks again for thinking of ways to improve the forum - we ALWAYS want to hear what you are thinking on that topic, so please keep the ideas coming! Cheers

  37. There's this new one on the market called keeping it out of the sun. - - - Updated - - - Sorry, that was snarky. But seriously, the best way to keep your tattoos looking good and bright is to keep them out of the sun as much as possible. Probably the best way to do that is to cover it with clothing, otherwise wear sunblock when you're out in the sun. - - - Updated - - - Sorry, that was snarky.
