  1. Just got back from honeymoonin' on Vancouver Island. We wanted to get some honeymoon tattoos and a we were thinking of getting cute little hummingbirds although we did have a running joke of getting "spirit eagle" tattoos on the drive out to the island. Then one night my wife says "YEAH let's get eagle tattoos, that would be more bad ass than a cute little hummingbird!" RIGHT?!? Can I get a HELL YEEEAH! As fate would have it, we passed a Birds of Prey sanctuary on the way in to Victoria and met this bad ass dude named Manwe who solidified the plan: We got some super-legit tattoo work at Government Street Tattoos in Victoria, BC. We called the shop they said come on down and let's chat, BOOM how does tomorrow at 10AM sound. Seriously such an awesome experience getting a tattoo from Chris David in this shop. So stoked on the results: Hers: Mine: I'm super stoked on the placement and design of my latest and greatest tattoo. THUMBS UP On deck for this winter (tattoo season)...getting a piece on the opposite shoulder/neck and starting the back piece. BOOSH

  2. I had another (relatively small (3.5 hours) session on my Tamatori-Hime sleeve today, we finally got to put some color into it :-) Unfortunatly the octopus will be colored next time, which i think will give a big change as to how everything looks now. And a nice (almost) full body shot :) :

  4. I know I started my own thread for it, but I since it's an awesome thing, too... I was trying to raise $500 for my AIDS walk, with the team goal of $1000. As of yesterday... I raised $1000, taking my team total up to $2040! My amazing girlfriend raised $525 of the team total, which means that the rest of my team is slackin! I only used two of the premiums that were available- a bar tab at my bar and a 'Shawn will cook you a super unhealthy dinner' option that someone spent $100 on... Simon Erl is doing us a shirt... which means I could even get more than the $1000. It's going to help so many people in my area!

I think it was pretty funny that Tatu Baby is tattooing Dave Navarro, and thinks that somehow people will care about the tattoo she did, when they meet Dave Navarro. He is a legit rockstar, and you are on the tattoo version of the Real World. Not to mention that Mr Navarro has been tattooed by some real tattooers, so hypothetically if I was talking tattoos with him, I would probably gravitate towards the legends who have tattooed him.

  13. I've known Josh Burdette (aka THAT GUY, WALL OF BEARD and OBMF) for almost 20 years. He passed away this week. It's been a rough year; after my friend Shannon of BME died a few months ago Josh joked that we should take a break from our friends dying for a while. Strange how it all works out. For those of you who knew Josh- pretty much anyone who's seen a show at the 9:30 Club since 1997 has surely seen him... The services will be held as follows: Visitation with Family: Friday September 6th 2013 3:00-5:00pm and 6:30-8:30pm Memorial Service: Saturday September 7th 2013 2:00pm St. Paul's United Methodist Church 10401 Armory Avenue Kensington Maryland 20895 The family is finalizing details on where contributions can be made in lieu of flowers. Trip to San Fran

@Kahlan Everyone, please correct me if you feel differently or have alternatives. For the short duration I lived there I felt any shop mentioned in SF is accessible. The city is pretty much 7 miles x 7 miles. I pretty much walked the span once or twice running errands. But if you're more sane, cabbing or bussing it anywhere is easy. State of Grace in SJ, is about an hour drive from SF. Typically I've driven but I guess you could take the train down too. Temple in Oakland should be an easy and quick BART trip over I believe. Spider Murphy's in San Raphael too should also be accessible but via ferry then bus I think. I'm not sure how long that takes though. Hope this helps a wee bit.

  23. As some of you might already know I'm heading out your way for some tat action in September, and I'd love to hang out with some fellow LSTers whilst visiting. The schedule so far is: 15-18 Los Angeles 18-22 San Francisco 22-27 Los Angeles I'll be hooking up with @ian for the San Francisco trip, and there's also been some talk about an official LST get together/3 year anniversary around that time, but that's still up in the air. Either way, it would be really cool to meet some of ya'll in person! Already looking forward to seeing @hogg and @dcostello again :) I have nothing planned when I return to Los Angeles, so tips on cool shit do do in LA is also welcome!

  24. Alright LSTers! New month means new contest. Last month showcased some incredible submissions, but I'm sure this month won't be any less great considering the rate that our members are collecting (and in some cases creating) insane tattoos! LST Monthly Contest The tattoo picture that gets posted in this thread for September 2013 with the most 'likes' for the month wins! The contest starts on the first of the month and ends on the last day of the month. Contest Guidelines Your tattoo picture must be posted in this thread (both tattooers and tattoo customers can win) in order to qualify. Include with your photo/post...tattoo artist name & tattoo shop. You MUST be the one who has the tattoo or did the tattoo. You can 'like' as many tattoos as you want. It can be a finished or in progress tattoo. To increase your 'likes' or to show off another's great tattoo share the link to the post in this thread on facebook, twitter, etc. - to get votes from your friends.. It's on!!

I've been considering replaying Oblivion but melee style. When I played it with magic I found it to be frustrating as hell. And the hubby-to-be and I are probably going to tackle Diablo 3 for PS3 as well. Stoked.

  34. No, this has nothing to do with what I think or like, and everything to do with the understanding that all art forms have limits, conventions, techniques, histories, people who have excelled with that medium, pushed boundaries, developed new understandings of it, etc. This is as true of tattoos as it is of photography, of oil painting, of heavy metal, or of any other art form you can think of and to just instead say that it's all subjective is lazy. I'd also say that this attitude that everything is the same as everything else and all that matters is that you like it/it's meaningful to you is a big reason why people get shitty tattoos.

  35. I don't think I would go back. Just on the basis of the quality of the tattoo. Infections are a weird thing, was the cause determined to be overworking of the skin, or was it an unsanitary work enviroment, either way really they shouldn't happen, and like I said, really seen very few in a professional tattoo shop. I have had inexperiened tattooers (apprentices) tattoo me and it's taken like a month or two to heal, but has never been infected There are plenty of good people who tattoo in MN, like mentioned before, Aloha Monkey in Burnsville I believe, Uptown Tattoo does good work. My friend just started getting tattooed at a shop called Live Fast Die Young Tattoo they are doing a killer chest piece of a ship. I don't know what shop you got this done at, but that's how I see it.

    Dry healing

I have become of fan of dry healing too, when i got my earlier tattoo's I was told to apply bephanten or something similar on it. It did work fine, but the tattoo's were always 'sticky'. When I got my first (full) sleeve last year I was told to 'just do nothing' :) And it went great, after getting home i washed it, and repackaged it for the night, but after that nothing. The first few days i didn't need to do anything, after that i got a bit dry on some places, and i put some (generic) lotion it, usually once a day was enough.. And like was said earlier, it's a wound, and needs to breath to heal, and not to be suffocated with some goey stuff. On another forum i frequent most members are keeping their tattoo moist, and 'brag' about not having scabs or anything.... no ofcourse not, they are rubbing everything off by lubricating the thing 10 times a day....
