  4. Okay this is going to be one of those "Meaningful Story" tattoo stories. Deal with it. On 26 June, out of nowhere and with no previous symptoms my wife of 34 years had a Grand Mal seizure. On 26 July she had a brain tumor removed. On 30 July we learned that it was malignant and she has an 85% probability that she won't make it 18 months. But she's a fighter. 85% against just means there is a 15% probability she will make it. My wife spent her entire life fucking up the curve and that's not changing anytime soon. She was told that visualization is helpful. Make it a tangible "thing" you can combat. She takes chemo and radiation 5 days a week (for 6 weeks), then has a re-eval. She nicknamed the tumor "DLB" (dirty little bastard). I saw some flash on line and heard a 90's era song, added a little of this and that and the next thing you know I was in the chair. I hope you all like it:

Most of you probably saw this on my instagram, but in addition to drinks, I propose that we meet beforehand at Poutineville (1365 rue Ontario E) and share the Crise Cardiaque, pictured above, which is fifteen pounds of poutine...five pounds of fries topped with chicken, bacon, smoked sausage, ground beef, ham, onion, peppers, tomatos, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and cheese curds, and gravy. And then we will drink beer! We are all going to fucking die, but it could be a fun LST bonding moment. Who is down?

  10. Chads fast but expect to wait....not that its a bad thing because your at a convention but hes rarely on time. But you all will end up with great great tattoos but baby the fuck out of them. My back has been going well with healing and my wifes chad tattoos healed really well but the first one I got in a tough spot and it needs a little touch ups but a lot of that was me at the time I didnt really get how I should be healing more "deep" heavy tattoos. I changed my method and Ive been fine. Hes like Ron jeremy, he goes DEEP. You guys will love it. I love that guy! I mean it one of my favorite people in tattooing.... really bummed Im missing out but I think he will be back in N.H. later this year so ill be patient. Please post pics.

  12. This could get interesting. I'm planning another Ed Hardy inspired tattoo. A gorilla coming out of a rose. We were planning to go kinda big on the ribs and side. I figured 8:30 to midnight, would probably do it. We shall see what happens. It will be cool regardless.

  13. You know that Ed Hardy backpiece that's a rose with a panther face in the petals and all sorts of other crazy stuff? I asked him for something like that but on my lower leg. I was thinking shin but we'll see what he thinks.

  14. I think I'm in right after you, at 8:30pm. He has a reputation for being fast. We'll see how it all works out time wise. "Pugilist" It really does look that way. I guess that we know a good opportunity when we see one. Beats flying out to California, well, actually it doesn't.

    - - - Updated - - - If you are not happy with the tattoo that's one thing, but you say it's infected? I hear a lot of people throw around that term, especially people with a couple tattoos, every time they have a tattoo that heals hard. I have seen very few tattoos from professional artists become infected and the ones I have are usually on people who live in the gym and like rolling around in other people's staph. But you know their is a reason things need to be sterile so it is definitely plausible. Either way this is a discussion to be hard with the tattooer, he should at least have the chance to address your concerns, regardless of whether you go somewhere else from now on or not.

You certainly have a right to that perspective, and one might keep in mind that there is more than one thread where he was exhibiting poor behavior. I would not say that every response to him was kind, but in any situation, if you are the new guy it's usually wise to keep your head down and be respectful. Especially if you aren't educated on a subject. Questions are encouraged, but so is listening, which was his problem. Regardless, this is a pretty dead horse topic, and you are more than welcome to interpret it as you will. This a great community with some genuinely awesome people, but in any forum it is important to have a thicker skin. Have a great day!

  20. I started my back last month, neck to knees, a large Oni/Hannya faced lady holding a lantern - taking reference from the scale of Shige and Calle style backpieces, but painted by the artist. I was incredibly nervous going into it, I had built it up in my mind to be the worst thing ever, and I was stressing out about not even being able to get through the first full outlining session...I have had a lot of work done before, and this kinda added to the worry, because I know how bad it can hurt, and how much I do not enjoy getting tattooed! The first session went really well though, I think the fact I had been waiting and wanting this for so long really helped - I wouldn't have ever let myself quit halfway through. The back is NOT an easy area, there are some really bad spots, for me it was behind the kidneys, thin lines on the spine as well as the whole coccyx area...it all sucked, those areas just stood out as being particularly bad! I have had two big shading sessions since then, healing is tricky, thank christ for my girlfriend helping with the bacitracin, also it has been hands down the itchiest tattoo I have ever had! Maybe because it covers such a large area, and everything is itching at the same time! it has been an eye-opening experience so far - It feels like a long, daunting task to get the whole thing finished, once session at a time I guess!

Finally got around to uploading a few pics in the ol' gallery. Going in to see El Monga at Spider Murphy's tomorrow. Got a quick walk-in from him in Barcelona...I am super pumped for a longer session this time around. Like Christmas-eve-as-a-kid-pumped. Thanks again to all the regulars around here who helped set me on a really positive tattoo path. Back to lurkin'!

  24. See I'm like Brett Hull the Hall of Fame hockey player, I've gotta have sex before every game or in this case tattoo session. Really calms me and settles the mind! Then a fat ass ham and Swiss samich with a Dew before. Stop at McDs for a large coke while I'm getting tattooed......and I deuce at the shop! Everyone kind of expects it and he won't start unless I do. And lastly a good hardy stretch before jumping in the chair!

Nice one! I'm getting zapped by him on Saturday. Not to speak for @Pugilist but she's getting tattooed by Mike Rubendall. A friend of ours is getting his first tattoo at the convention on Saturday, I'm trying to get him to come out after he's done. He will have earned a celebratory drink! It's going to be cool meeting you and your wife!

  46. This logic seems flawed considering "die-hard" collectors are also super broke most of the time. I'm assuming based on how poor I've been for the past 6 months saving up. Then again, I'm not sure if Ive made it to "die-hard" status yet... Lol
