Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Kingdomhearts25 and 22 others reacted to DevilMan for a topic
After wading through the 433 pages of great art here i thought i'd include my own art too :) Currently my artist and I are working on my second sleeve (and chest piece), this sleeve is Tamatori-Hime themed. And a close-up of the chest piece: Next week we are going the continue with the background on the upper arm, and start on some coloring. This is a picture of my other sleeve that we did last year: And the chest piece: All the work is being done by Bonel of the Corazon Santo tattoostudio in The Netherlands.23 points -

The ED HARDY Thread

I don't think we have a thread dedicated to Ed Hardy, so let's use this one to share anything Ed related. If anyone deserves their own thread on here it's gotta be him, right? I spent my evening rewatching some old Hardy interviews, and I even found a couple new ones (to me at least). Here's a few of them. Joel Selvin chats with Ed Hardy about his life in tattoos at Book Soup in Hollywood Interview in conjunction with "the unruly art of Don Ed Hardy" exhibit that was displayed last year Part 1 Part 2 - - - Updated - - - I have more, but there's a 3 videos per post limit, so I'll have to wait untill someone else posts something in here.10 points -

Took a trip down to Virginia yesterday and had my consultation with Brian Bruno. First appointment some time in November for a half-sleeve and chest plate. Changed up my original plans of Henning do this because I decided to have him do my ribs instead as that is something I wouldn't mind as having in progress for an extended period of time.5 points -
Also btw if its less than a year old it will be a long long time before it begins to break down if it was done well. Applying lotion or sunblock every day several times a day is pretty tedious, esp if this is a life long plan to keep them looking 'new' or fresh or whatever. That will get old real fast. The sun is really the biggest problem. A well applied tattoo can be vivid for a very long time if it doesn't see much sun. I might also want to just give my opinion that a tattoo that has 'settled' into the skin looks better. That means it won't look brand new anymore but it looks a little more natural for lack of a better word, particularly with ink made without synthetic binders.5 points

Speaking of Mr. O'Donnell, I start the full back piece experience with him in 2015. I remember at one point in time I thought people were nuts for getting their whole backs done. As time went on though it slowly became something that I admired and dreamed about doing. With that being said it's time to start saving!4 points -

The best thing you can do is what I did - wait until you are old to get your tattoos and that way you'll probably be dead before they begin to fade! That's my plan and I'm sticking too it. I also don't have to wait to see what they look like when I get old. I can just look in the mirror! :)4 points -

i didn't even know that those tags are usually the artist signature :-) The tag on the Tamatori-Hime chespiece has my wife's name, 'Kokoro no Tomo' (Soulmate) and 'Ei' (Eternity) in it. In my dragon sleeve there's 'Futago' (Twins), the names of my twin boys, and 'Ei' (Eternity). (They are also born last year, in the year of the dragon). The big kanji on my lower is the name of my daughter, 'Manamusune' (Beloved daughter) and 'Ushidoshi' (year of the Ox) as the seal.3 points -

Usually the vanitas paintings with flowers were a commentary on the fleeting nature of life, same as a skull being a memento mori. Flowers die, food spoils, etc. and usually the flower paintings included flowers in the bouquet that were toxic to each other or if you look closely some flowers are halfway wilted. I just find a lot of that stuff...DIJ, Sol Invictus, Of The Wand and the Moon, etc...to be really one-dimensional. It gets boring. Current 93 has so much going on musically and lyrically that listening to it is sort of like trying to figure out a puzzle and there's always something new there, especially when you start looking into the references David Tibet is making. There's whole worlds in those songs.2 points -

Style, not really. Tattoos tend to look a certain way for a reason and while I think there are some artists who can push the boundaries of what a tattoo looks like, I think it's important to recognize the constraints and limitations of skin, and part of that means that you can't do just anything with a tattoo and expect it to age well. I think the tendency as of late towards "watercolor" style tattoos is an example of that: I think that some people's tattoos in that style may be okay, I'm thinking in particular of Amanda Wachob's tattoos because they're abstract and don't rely on readability in the way that something figurative does, but a pastel-coloured bird with no black outline...forget it, that's nothing in five years. As for subject matter, pretty much anything is game as long as it can be tattooed as a strong image.2 points

Yoga
slayer9019 reacted to HaydenRose for a topic
I know what you mean about your leg "catching" is it like where your hip connects to your leg? My right leg does it when I do leg lifts in yoga and actually was super painful and stuck the last time I got tattooed. As for DVDs, I frequent yogajournal.com. I've done their 21 day fitness challenge which has a lot of ashtanga and faster paced practice. Right now I'm doing the regular 21 day challenge at intermediate and it has a wide range of styles and intensities. I think both of those you can buy as DVDs, but I'm cheap, so I just store the videos in my email. @Delicious, check this video out. The great thing about yoga is size doesn't matter! And you can start out just doing 10-15 minutes a day and work your way up.1 point -
