When i left home 5 months ago to go hitchhiking around i would have never guessed I'd be looking for an appartment in Vienna, Austria, with a girl I met on the side of the highway somewhere in Austria but that is exactly what we will be doing tomorrow. We have an appointment to look at a sweet place in the center that won't eat all our savings. Today we hitchhike over there. Pretty nervous for the whole moving to another country thing but extremely stoked at the same time. Wish us luck!8 points

This is a portrait of my pops that I had done last week by Juan Arreguin (El Super) in his shop Superfly Tattoo here in Leon Guanajuato Mexico. If any of you are from Vancouver, you might recognize the name because he used to work at Rain City. August 12th is my fathers birthday, and the National Airborne Day is August 16th. Figured this would be a good way to honor him.6 points

I am still mostly torso coverage as well, and am still working on it. I have never been big on forearm tattoos and do not plan on getting any... So I'll just cover the rest of my body. I wont start showing off until I decide on a back piece... then ill just walk around with my shirt off all the time.5 points -
Anyone have any good ideas for a cover up?
irezumi and 3 others reacted to slayer9019 for a topic
Reaper with a top hat, fighting a panther, standing on an 8 ball. Yes that was an actual conversation I had with a tattooer about my own coverup. Shit would cover anything. Realistically, you will have to talk to a tattooer, and see their take. I might get mine zapped a few times with a laser to open the possibilities up quite a bit (especially for black). Any tattooer I've talked to mentioned laser first (even just a few to lighten it up). That being said if you are just asking for anything that would cover that up on the internet, expect everyone to run along the lines of "pather, top hat, 8-ball, black koi, oil spill, etc)4 points -

I remember the first time I saw an Aaron Cain sleeve in person. It was 6 or 7 years old and it was still the most solid as fuck thing I had ever laid eyes on. I think we often have discourse here about what makes a tattoo a tattoo, and bio mech is a prime example where there are varying degrees of what constitutes a "good" tattoo. I think Grime, Aaron, and Phil Holt have accomplished it beautifully. Black/bold sculpted lines and solid well blended color. Holds up, looks rad.3 points -

Hi, The London Tattoo Convention isn't too far away now, anyone going? or have anything booked with any of the artists there? I've got an appointment with Paul Dobleman on the Saturday and if I have enough spare money I might try and get a walk up too. Unfortunately My husband and I are in the process of trying to buy our first house - which is a good thing but so far it's been an expensive process and is seriously pitting a dent in bank account. Be good to hear from any other members thinking of going :-)2 points

Hello there. This is my first contribution to any kind of online forum, let alone a tattoo forum, and even more specifically, one that is dedicated to maintaining and promoting the integrity oh high quality body art and professionally minded artists. I must admit that I have been a little resistant to forums in general in the past as I found that they often quickly descended in to torrents of personal abuse and platforms for the most ill informed and and opinionated members of society. However, from what i have seen so far, Last Sparrow has given me cause to dip my toes in to the forum world and hopefully contribute to the type of forum I would like to see :) I guess I'll just get to the point with a bit of information about my tattoos. I have two bio-mech full sleeves, both by the same artist, Eddie James. My left arm is grey wash while the right is colour. Ive got some medium script on my stomach, while my most recent acquisition is a hot rod styled pin striped skull on my left calf area. X-tal at Ink Embassy in Cairns did the skull on my calf, however i can not remember for the life me who did the script on my stomach, it was a done back in 2009 at a shop in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, that's as much as i can recall. Anyway, I hope to contribute if and when i have something worthwhile to say, which hopefully will be sooner rather than later. Ill put some images of my other ink in to my gallery.2 points -

When do touchups make sense?
Brock Varty and one other reacted to Colored Guy for a topic
If I have a light spot in the black or want some white or other color freshened up, I'll do that at the end of a regular session. It only adds a 1/2 hour to the bill and all the stuff is out anyway. Rob2 points -

When do touchups make sense?
Graeme and one other reacted to cltattooing for a topic
I think it depends on your level of satisfaction with the piece on a personal level and how you want your tattoos to look as they age. I think pointless perfectionism comes into play when people get a bunch of touch-ups to try and attain "the perfect tattoo," when no such thing exists.2 points -
I'm going to second this. I used to have ideas of how things were going to go together, and I still kind of have rough ideas and plans, but mostly when it comes down to picking a design and placement I'm all about spur of the moment decisions. I figure that it's all going to end up as one tattoo more or less anyway so I don't stress out about it.2 points

Why are bad tattoos so popular?
LucasGabrieletiger24 reacted to sbhikes for a topic
I am curious why bad tattoos are so popular. I mean, I can understand that someone who knows nothing about tattoos goes to a bad artist and gets a badly done tattoo. I did that myself. What I don't understand are why tattoos lacking any creativity or art are so popular. For instance, why do people want to put typewriter text on themselves? Why do they want so much text but no images? Why do they want flowery, descriptive text but not an image of what that text is describing? This makes absolutely no sense to me. I've been as dumb as anybody regarding tattoos but one thing I've never had pop into my mind is to want words describing beautiful things rather than the beautiful things themselves. Another one are the fads like the inifinity symbols, the text on the wrist and the exploding birds thing. Back in the 90s when I first got a tattoo the fads (the fairies, the curly tribal stuff on the lower back) at least were flattering. The current fads are so ugly. I saw a girl with the exploding birds and it looked like someone had attacked her with a marking pen. The small crap on the wrist thing looks like you're trying to sneak crib notes in to the test. The straight lines of text tattoos are so unflattering to men and women alike. I just don't understand. Am I just an old fuddy-duddy complaining about the youth of today? Has there actually been a real change in the culture to prefer ugliness over color, shape, texture and art? Any ideas?1 point -
My name is Jordan Lilly, I am a tattooer at Darkstar Tattoo in Westport, Massachusetts. Before I moved to Mass last fall I was tattooing at Classic Tattoo AZ with Shane Jay who really had a profound influence on me. I am so thankful for everything that tattooing has bestowed upon me, I only hope I can do it justice while she will have me. Now to figure out how this whole forum works, in the mean time you can check out my tattoos and paintings on instagram @GORDO_TATTOOER. Feel free to ask me any questions.1 point

When woman commit suicide they tend to cut their wrist or over dose so is to look good at the funeral. Most women are brought up to believe that certain things aren't "lady like", and since symmetry is the "science" of beauty it would make since that we are concerned with the symmetry of our work. And I say most bc no one group of people is 100% the same. There are always exceptions.1 point

The thing I hate about loads of text is when people are fairly covered with gorgeous tattoos and that block of text just breaks up the cohesiveness and looks like a gash between their other tattoos. If you're going to be covered, then forget the script and stick with solid imagery instead.1 point
