  3. Got my first traditional piece from Chad K yesterday who was super cool. Just a simple wolf head on the top of my foot. Didn't hurt as bad as I thought it was going too and I must say it was nice to get a tattoo done in one sitting for a change! Super stoked to get it and am currently thinking about what I want to get on the other foot right about now. Oh and @Wilhell that's a rad piece and props to you for just one sitting.

Oh, I can add to this, literary tattoos, woo! From nearly three years ago by the up-and-coming superstar Jon Poverty. Did this wolf head with the words whittled down from an excerpt from The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy. ”He said that the wolf is a being of great order and that it knows what men do not: that there is no order in the world save that which death has put there.”

    gorilla tattoos

Hope it's ok to revive this thread from a few months ago. Here's my gorilla on the back of my calf, this pic was taken right after it was finished. Got it done back in Feb of this year, probably time to take a good healed pic! This one was done by Endijs at Chalice Tattoo in Boise. I'd been wanting a gorilla tattoo for quite a while and when I saw this painting of his I knew it was the one I had to get.

    How about an art show?

Figured I'd toss this up in here. Received my tiger painting from Tim Lehi today and couldn't be happier. I can't wait to get it framed and hung up in my room.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

@Wilhell and @Reyeslv, I've already told both of you how impressed I am, but it bears repeating. And Reyes, I can't even tell what's left to do on yours! It looks pretty complete to me.

There's also the classic scholarly skull design: That one was painted by Chris Hold, but it's after a Bert Grimm design.

  16. While waiting for a couple of tattoo appointments coming up I decided to get a tattoo while I wait. This one was by Nathan Draper at The Pearl. He did a great job and is a really nice guy, too. A good experience all around. Update: Please ignore my disgusting sock!

  18. Some dude was getting those silhouette birds when I was last getting tattooed and while I'm sure they are annoying to do because that shop is probably doing that tattoo at least five times a day, it's the shop minimum for what seemed to be very little work. Same with those infinity signs. Seems not too bad to me.

  20. Trust me, if you want to show them to any tattoo artists, print them out on paper to show them - I can you tell, after working the desk in a busy studio, it is truly obnoxious of someone to make you wait for two minutes while they fiddle with their phone trying to find the right reference, plus you then cant leave anything physical with the shop or the artist, or you have to then email over every little thing to the shop, who then have to print it out for the artist, and if you want to show the artist that reference they will have to squint at the tiny screen. We like pictures on paper. A lot.

  21. Hahaha, thank you so much, @Graeme! It was so painful to do that big thing in just one go, and nothing I will recommend. We were starting at 4.40 PM and I was done 11.15 PM I think. We had a lot of breaks eating a little and drinking coffee. So Tattootime was maybe five and half hours? The worst part was when Marius dried and washed the tattoo before this picture was taken. Haha, maybe @Iwar can describe it a little better? Omg

1 Year of being on LST

My one year anniversary of being an active LST member is also soon. I've learned a lot by reading through the threads and watching all the interviews. Most importantly LST gave me the nudge (peer pressure) I needed to go out and fearlessly make appointments for large scale work. LST has also helped me be unproductive at work for at least 1 hour per day....

  38. Whoaaaaooohhh so many amazing tattoos being posted!! Love love love the white tiger and the dragon lamp. I don't know why great tattoos are so romantic, I swear I actually swoon when I see them. Very hard to follow up on these awesome pieces, but I just wanna post this one from yesterday. One session, 3 hours, lots of fun! Dunno what I'd do without such cool clients, they're always the ones with the crazy ideas, I'm just lucky enough to get to draw them :)

  40. I'm not sure there's any way round it. Getting tattoos hurts, more or less, depending on whereabouts it's going. If you really, genuinely want that tattoo though, it doesn't hurt enough that it should put you off. (Sometimes I find the whole "washing a slightly scabby wound for a week or so" aspect more unpleasant than the actual needlework.) ;)

  41. How horrible that you got a tattoo taken from the highest selling book series of all time and other people got it too. But yeah, claiming to understand things on a much deeper level than everybody else isn't hipster behavior at all.

@ johannes- Something dark with Lovecraft would be fun. Michael Moorcock's Elric blowing the horn at the end of the world would be interesting...until the tattoo aged and it ends up looking like David Bowie playing a saxophone. Cheesy fantasy tattoo, whoo! I feel like Gaiman's stuff would lend itself well to tattooing. The flying ships in stardust (catching lightning), or playing with the pantheon in American gods. You wouldn't have enough room for an accurate Stephen King book. Traditional with moby dick. Darn it! I can't wait to get my next tattoo!

Not sure which book(s), though. Thinking I might someday get the W.A.S.T.E. horn from The Crying of Lot 49. Maybe something by Ray Bradbury. Gully Foyle's tattooed tiger face from The Stars My Destination could be good...
