  6. I'm in Oregon y'all!!! :D I left Oklahoma a week ago, made it almost to the Colorado state line and ran into some car trouble... I ended up stranded for 4 days waiting for parts to come in, but then managed to drive 24 hours over two days and made it into Oregon late last night. I'm so thrilled to be back this way, it's been a long 3 years in the bible belt. West Coast-Best Coast!!! :D

  7. Well seeing how I've only been tattooed by one person so far, and I'm about 40-50% there, should I continue to get more, I might as well go all in. Jill Bonny. She's not as flashy as some but that's what I like about her work. It's solid and detailed just enough without going overboard with excess. It retains a bold look and has a style that I feel relates to the flatness of the old prints. I really like that about her work. And she's cool too. Also once upon a time when you get briefly introduced to Tim Hendricks and he sees your tattoos (and finds out it's all been done by Jill), then tells you, " You're a tattoo artist's dream client.", well you should probably listen to those words and follow through. If I cloned myself or had a twin. Horitomo.

    Who are you?

Hi everybody! I really like this thread :) Well i am Nick And i live in Belgium, i am now 33 yrs old and before my 27 i had never thought of tattoos or ofcourse being a tattoo artist :) I studied nursery in 1998 but for me that was more being in the bar in front then actually in my courses because i guess it wasn't the correct choice for me. Then i started out in arts (illustrating) i spend 5 yrs there in stead of 4 because i couldn't draw for s**t. Then i met the nefew of my best friend who was creating shockwave games. That was so cool that spend 4 yrs in the game industry. After that i went independant but i thought i wasn' t good enough. Which brings me to the best choice EVER in my life, Return to school to study Digital arts and entertainment in Belgium where i really learned how to draw and to do some cool 3D stuff, programming, etc, Basicly everything that has to do with games and film industry. After i finished my studies over there they really wanted to keep me there for my drawing skills so to fill my financial gap i agreed with their proposal and went teaching. A big suprice to stand in front of 320 hungry students :) This i did for 3 yrs now. In my first yr teaching i had a demand from a tattoo artist to teach him more how to draw correctly and so i did. This was Rouslan Toumaniantz, a very serious and ambitious tattoo artist who was held back a bit by the girl with the stars on her face. After 2 lessons he told me i could draw quite nicely and he asked me if I wasn' t interested in learning how to tattoo. Like i said before, i have NEVER tought about tattoos so that was kinda new for me... I my eyes tattoos where oldschool or ugly drawings. (sorry for this but i didn't knew any better) SO he showed me some work of Dimitryi Samohin, Jesse Smith, Anil Gupta, Jack Ribeiro, and many many others... This got me really interested in the world of tattooing and inspired me to try to tattoo for myself. At this point i am stopping to teach and going full time tattoo artist. I must say for all the media i touched like aquarel, oil paint, photoshop, etc, Tattooing is BY FAR the most challenging media to put art... I have my shop somewhere in Doornik Belgium atm, But i' m really dreaming one day to come to the states and work there together with my girlfriend who is doing now Animschool and her dream is to be animator in Pixar. So one day: San fransisco here we come :) :D (I really dont know if it would be possible but we can dream right ;) )

  13. There's no way I could pick just one. I've had such a great time with each of my tattoos... and I plan to continue that trend!! Seeing the way different people approach things, watching them figure it out, watching them apply it... that's part of the fun!!! I'm with @hogg here, I just can't even try to play this game.

    Lady Heads

I posted it in the Tattoo of the Month contest but I got this one done by Adam Warmerdam a week or so ago. Some of the best lady heads out there right now, I'm sure it helps having Chris Conn upstairs.

  24. I was riding the bus to work this morning and even though the bus was full and people were standing, there was one empty seat...the one right next to me. I believe it was @CultExciter who once said on here that the purpose of visible tattoos was to attract mates and deter foes, so I'm halfway there.

  26. This is a tough one. But I'd have to go with Andrew Conner. He's immensely slept on but that keeps him incredibly accessible. He's a great friend, artist, and intellectual and he never ceases to amaze me with his creativity. Plus he has a soft hand and that rules when you're getting tattooed for hours. Close second would be Matt Brotka.

  27. I can't sing her praises enough, and I am so, so, soooooooo stoked on this piece, so here is my finished leg by Stephanie Tamez. Such an awesome person, and I'm gonna miss spending so much time at Saved! Except for a couple details, everything here is healed. Definitely one of my favorite tattoos.

    Who are you?

Hmm just found this and hope you won't mind me adding to it. I'm Erica, 19 year old fat chick from CA. lol great opener isnt it? I am in college right now, my major is Political Science. I absolutely love govt, law, philosophy, all the things which most kids my age hate. I am hoping, once I transfer, to double major in French and Political science. Then maybe get a master's in Security Studies. As far as tattoos go, I've wanted one since I was 12. Everyone in my middle school was getting horrible tattoos, and it was the thing to do. All through high school, people would show off their garage tattoos with pride. Everyone always talked about what they were going to get "tatted" and what deep personal meaning it had. When i turned 18 I started really considering getting tattooed. But I didn't know what I wanted. Then I went to Chinatown in vegas when I was visiting my father and found a Ganesh statue. Then I knew I wanted to get him on me forever. So I searched the internet, Google images, all of that good stuff. I still had alot of predjudices when it came to tattoos. I hated japanese tattoos, i thought they all had to have meaning, didnt think girls should be heavily tattooed. But in the course of my research and lurking, my attitude changed. january of this year, on the 31st, I got my first tattoo. I was in love and I wanted more. So back to the internet I went to lurk on tattoo websites and looking around and learning what a good tattoo was. Found myself here, and I love it. I know sometimes my posts are foolish, or awful, and I do apologize. But I love the vibe of this place, and have learned so much. Changed my ideas about tattoos and tattooing, and it makes me want to go spend all my money grinding images into my skin! Tomorrow I will be getting my 3rd tattoo, in a year, and the 3rd tattoo so far in my life. I just want to thank you all for opening my eyes... and creating a new passion in me!

    Who are you?

Never noticed this thread before... just read through all of it. I'm Janet and I'm 43. I grew up in small town Connecticut, then moved to Boston for 11 years where I majored in acting, moved around the city a lot, worked many places--the longest run was at a billiard club, and sang in a fun 50s girl-group/rockabilly type band. Then I moved to Los Angeles and I've been here going on 14 years. I teach kindergarten in the inner city. Went back to school to get my master's in education a few years ago. I am into music, esp punk/indie/rock... QOTSA is a good example of a favorite band although David Bowie is my all time favorite (pre-80s). I love animals --don't eat meat or buy anything leather, and I get a lot out of Bikram yoga. My husband ( @DJDeepFried) and I have been together 10 years, married for 5 1/2, and we have an awesome 4 1/2 year old daughter & 2 cats. I can be cynical and skeptical but I'm also positive, open-minded, enthusiastic, and sporadically silly. Whew, that's a lot to sum up in 1 post. Here's a pic of me I recently found from my younger punk rock days (~'86):

    Who are you?

I'm Shawn. I'm originally from Florida, I lived there until my early 20s when I moved to Philly in 1999 with a girl. Relationship didn't work out, but I fell in love with the city of Brotherly Love and have been there ever since. I used to be totally self sufficient; from farming my own vegetables and hunting my own meat to canning or preserving the results. I could sew my own clothes, et all. 12 years in Philly and I've lost a lot of that. Luckily my Dad moved up here two years ago and already has me helping out with his garden and is re-honing my archery skills. My eventual goal is to move to North Carolina and not wear shoes unless I have to. (and that's not a joke) I'm a foodie, a toy collector (biding my time before I start a Pushead thread on LST) and a nerdy blogger.
