"Tattoo Collector" ?????
Fala and 7 others reacted to ShawnPorter for a topic
True enough. I hate when people say "but tattoo artists HATE it!!" about something. Here's something: Some tattooers are douchebags. Them being a tattooer, even a GOOD tattooer, doesn't make them right or profound. It makes them another asshole with an opinion and there's nothing special or unique about having one of those. If you think you're a collector, you probably are. It's a way to describe what you do- collect tattoos from people you dig. I collect toys. I collect dvds. I have a lot of passion when it comes to my collections; I think about which swatches to buy, know when some obscure film is going to be released on dvd, read articles about toy production. I guess if you looked at it like that, I collect tattoos too. I find myself interested in the whole culture of it, not just "gettin' a new tat'. Verdict: It's not bad to be called a collector/call yourself a collector. It's not bad to not WANT to be called a collector/call yourself a collector.8 points -

Well it looks like I may have lost my mind as I seemed to have booked two sessions this weekend with two different artists at invisible. The really stupid thing is I'm getting not one but BOTH knees worked on. I really am not looking forward to this in the slightest..... Regino saturday, matt Sunday...woohoo!3 points -

Rad! Like I said though don't judge it by the first book, it's not bad, it's just his first novel and you can tell haha. It's a lite like wading through mud at times but from the second book on he starts to find his groove :)1 point

Done by Tim Pausinger @ Pearl Harbor Gift Shop in Toronto on july 2nd. Who knows, maybe people will really like this one!1 point -
After admiring her work on a friend (@tacitapproval), I really wanted a piece by Mina Aoki at Fun City, NYC. She did this Lady Head for me yesterday, and I'm very happy with it; it's my first full-color tattoo, my first piece of American traditional work, and my first time at Fun City. I'm sure I'll be back for more. I'll post healed pics in a few weeks.1 point

This is not on me--it's on my wife--but it's too good not to post here: By Paul Dobleman, Spider Murphy's Tattoo. I booked with him for next month--can't wait for my turn!1 point

The Tattoo Elite International ones are about 4x5 but on 8x10 paper (or something like that) so no matting necessary! Stick them in a frame and you're good. We just got the second set of prints yesterday.. @Pugilist sent them to a friend in NYC because they don't ship internationally and she came up for a visit and brought them along...so now we're only missing one of the Tattoo Elite International prints. Going to get this apartment painted and then have a Horitomo cat wall of our own.1 point

I haven't seen many (any?) portraits win this, so either this will buck the trend or become one of many.1 point

Post-tattoo blues anyone?
Chelsea Shoneck reacted to slayer9019 for a topic
I can say I understand a bit from time to time about the kinda shock about being tattooed. This only really happened recently when I looked down at my legs at realized "holy shit that is mostly tattoos...and I got appointments booked out till 2014". Then came me visiting my extended family over the weekend and not wearing long sleeves and jeans. Let's just say I got some really shitty responses and left early. (That by the way was the first negitive reaction I have ever received at least to my face). I really like what I got and have been looking forward to getting this stuff done since I was 12 and marker-ing in tattoos on myself. The only thing I know I will regret will be when I run out of space and when a great artist comes up and I don't have room for whatever it is I want. This especially effects me because I like HUGE tattoos (it seems I do limbs or most of a limb at a time). I've talked to a bunch of people older and wiser than me. 99% of the time the biggest regrets was NOT doing something.1 point -
Post-tattoo blues anyone?
Chelsea Shoneck reacted to Delicious for a topic
If you only feel like it was a mistake because of the money you spent on it, don't. If you could afford to get it, then why should you worry? If you feel like donating to the homeless, thats great, but you should be able to, as a middle class person, get the things you want for yourself, without feeling like the money should have been donated to the poor. If you think about it, you just made a long term investment. You now have a possession that cannot be taken away from you, that won't need to be replaced, that you can't possibly lose, and that no one can break.1 point -
"Tattoo Collector" ?????
joakim urma reacted to jpm06 for a topic
Yeah, I've never really liked the word because it seems weird to apply to tattoos but I don't really know what else to call what I'm doing. I don't really know why "collector" was the term that caught on instead of "enthusiast" or something but I didn't make it up and it's started sounding less awkward to me the more I've heard it. In my mind a collector is someone that is getting pieces by different artists more for the sake of having their work on them rather than a specific image. Almost the difference between buying a painting vs having your house painted if that makes any sense.1 point -
