  1. When I was in Vegas for the APP Conference, my old friend Ron Garza and I decided to get matching 'bro-tats' courtesy of his wife Nakota who tattoos out of Outer Limits. We've known each other since 1995 and have an amazing surreal friendship. Earlier this year one of our good friends (who goes back to 95 with us as well) killed himself, so we decided on Skulls in Party Hats. Little two minute dealies to commemorate our friendship. The "party tats" label was tongue in cheek.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Me and my buddy J went and visited Ben Grillo yesterday @ Power Tattoo... Ben added another little something to my buddy's face, he's already tattooed both of his cheeks so doing his forehead wasn't an issue I was surprised how quick it went, maybe slightly longer than 2 hours? I'm not totally sure, time goes pretty fast over there, Ben's always a cool dude to hang out with. Here's the finished product...

    Hello Sailor!

Hi, I've been a tattoo enthusiast for a few years now and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the artist interviews on this site so thought I'd finally sign up to the forum. I'm a big fan of Japanese tattooing and have 2 three quarter sleeves done by Diego Azaldegui in Leeds UK. I'm currently deciding on what I want for my back piece and hoping to get started on that soon.

  9. Good for you! I was writing a book, but my external hard drive got wiped so I lost everything. So I just gave up lol but ive been thinking of writing narratives of a song of I e and fire that weren't included but mentioned to get back in the swing of writing. You just inspired me to try again!

  10. I've started writing a story again. I haven't written one in so long, and usually get stuck like maybe a few pages in. I'm trying a new method where I'm telling the story as diary entries, to force myself to write as if I were writing down my thoughts or feelings for a certain day... instead of doing that 3rd person story, where you have to write from all angles, and narrate. I'm doing well, almost to 10 pages, and it's one of the best things I've written so far. Let's see if I can take this to 60 pages as planned!

    Full Back Piece Thread

Thanks everyone I will post my sweet cheeks up once the hannya has healed and everything has settled. There are a lot of different shades in the blue and through the veil that aren't apparent in the pics. @Iwar I still have some space on both sides (ribs) and an open thigh other than that im filled in. @Badtaste Not too sure yet I want to come down for sure it just depends on the family. I won't be getting tattooed this time that is for sure. Are you coming home for the convention?

  12. You may already be well on your way to choosing an artist for this particular tattoo and I know you have good choices. I happen to be in Fort Wayne for a conference this week and I stopped in to Black Anvil just to check it out, say hi and get a t-shirt (tattoo budget at zero due to getting one last month). I just want to say - even if this time you go elsewhere - if you live in Indiana and don't eventually get a tattoo from somebody at Black Anvil then you are missing out! Great tattooers there and a super cool shop.

  14. Well NYC has a stupid amount of good artists, some are memebers on LST! I would recommend the following shops: Thicker than Water Daredevil NY Adorned Invisible NYC All the shops I feel have killer artists that are pretty diverse and could nail pretty much any tattoo.

    Post-tattoo blues anyone?

Graeme is right. In time the tattoo might not being something you even think about or see anymore when you look in the mirror. It's brand new so it's fresh on your mind, so give yourself a chance to stop dwelling on it and you'll hopefully at least stop being upset about it even if you decide that you aren't going to get any more. As for me, I just finished a chest panel on my right side so now both sides are done. I had a brief moment of "Have I gone overboard?" which was immediately followed by "It only seems like you went overboard on the chest because you need your sleeves extended to 3/4 and your back done to balance things out." So the blues don't last long for me. I love catching site of my tattoos, knowing that they're there when they're covered up, and that my 21 month old daughter says "Kitty!" every time she sees the lucky cat on my inner arm.

    Post-tattoo blues anyone?

Not to minimise what you're going through, but you've only had the tattoo for a couple of weeks so give it some time. When it comes down to it, by getting tattooed you're doing a pretty heavy thing by permanently altering the appearance of your body, your perception of yourself, people's perception of you, you're maybe coming up against taboos...it's a lot to take on, and I don't think you can really prepare yourself for it beforehand. I think it's okay to have complicated feelings towards your tattoos. But really, give it some time, and if you decide that you really can't stand being tattooed, there's a lot of really great stuff here about tattoo removal.

  21. exactly... to me, it almost seems like fake money. you earn these coins solving math problems, and somehow they are worth something, and you can trade them for real money? seems like a recipe for disaster. I remember seeing, as a 16 year old, a picture of a woman wall papering her house with hitler's money that he printed, since it was essentially worthless. Only with this currency, if it becomes devalued, you will have nothing to show for it, not even wallpaper

  24. Haven't been on in a few days, just finding this thread as an outside observer, I just think this was a communication breakdown. I don't disagree with Delicious about the idea in general, as we have had issues in the past with people starting threads. I think if the idea was approached more from a positive aspect if might have been received better. If instead of being critical about the amount of threads started, someone just said, hey you have so many cool, weird, or interesting stories, you should have a blog so people can find them all and subscribe, that could have been received better. That and we really just have to choose our battles if we don't want to be like other forums, promote a civil environment, pretend like we are all roommates or something . That being said, the interenet has become a sea of negativity and this place remains relatively positive.

  25. Got this a few weeks ago at Electric 13 in Austin from Zach Taylor, who was gracious enough to come in on his day off to accomodate my schedule. Really cool shop, great experience all around. p.s. I apologize for the photo size, but people here like to see detailed photos of tattoos, right??

  27. Broadly speaking here: shading fades very fast with someone of your skin type. I'd expect most of it to be gone within 2-3 treatments, however it could take 5, maybe 6, depending on a number of factors (your immune system, pigment used, artists skill level of actually tattooing you, etc.)/ It's also very possible to keep the anchor and writing, while selectively treating the ink around it. My advice, don't let the sun fade it. It will naturally, but not in one summer, and if it does fade your tattoo it's doing a good deal of damage to your skin as a whole. You need to be healthy and keep your skin in tip-top shape pre-treatment and post-treatment. This means staying hydrated and applying liberal amounts of sunscreen on a regular basis every single day it's exposed to the sun. You're better off with a solid start.
