One of the tattoos from the London Trip... photo and tattoo by Stefano C. at Frith Street. Great experience, amazing tattoo, and I got to go back three days later for matching tattoos with my fiancee from Jordan Teear. I'll have photos of those and a full shot of this one when I get home this weekend. p.s.- Thanks to their staff for being patient while I mulled over which shirts I was going to bring back for the homies... as well as telling me how to find Honest Burger. It was too good.15 points -
Got this from Chris Garver last week at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum pop up store (Sorry if the picture is really big. Posting this from my iPhone). Pic stolen from their instagram.10 points

I got this about 1½ month ago at Copenhagen Ink Festival :) It's on the upper side of my forearm. Got tattooed by Suzi Powell from Holdfast Tattoo, Perth, Australia. I got a tattoo by her apprentice when I lived in Perth last year, so had to get one by her as well, now that she was in Denmark.6 points -

I didn't read the description and just glanced over this yesterday and thought, "cool Suikoden back piece". It wasn't until I saw the next one just now that I realized what was going on here. That is fantastic. I think my mind is actually a little blown.3 points
-
^^^ That would be amazing! In regards to "rolling eyes", it helps to know the history and weight of the style, the stories of the suikoden, and parallels of those stories and what Brand is portraying. When that happens, minds are blown! Splatter and spray everywhere. Seeing Ben Grillo's back was cool the first time. Seeing it after I realized it was based on one of the stories. My jaw de-hinged itself. And Drew's back is sick. The man should just tattoo half nekkid like Tomo of Yellowblaze, cuz no one will ever get tired of seeing that back.3 points
-
^^^^^That top one is on Ben Grillo, the bottom one is on Drew Flores. I have no idea why anyone would roll their eyes at these; I think they're brilliant.3 points

Broadly speaking here: shading fades very fast with someone of your skin type. I'd expect most of it to be gone within 2-3 treatments, however it could take 5, maybe 6, depending on a number of factors (your immune system, pigment used, artists skill level of actually tattooing you, etc.)/ It's also very possible to keep the anchor and writing, while selectively treating the ink around it. My advice, don't let the sun fade it. It will naturally, but not in one summer, and if it does fade your tattoo it's doing a good deal of damage to your skin as a whole. You need to be healthy and keep your skin in tip-top shape pre-treatment and post-treatment. This means staying hydrated and applying liberal amounts of sunscreen on a regular basis every single day it's exposed to the sun. You're better off with a solid start.2 points -
I lived in Athens in 2008 and have fond memories of getting thrown out of the crumbling original Parthenon by about 50 security guards blowing whistles. It'll be fun to see the fake one without all the scaffolding/angry people! I'm really hoping I get to go inside so I can see the really really ugly statue of Athena:2 points

I went to Ed Hardy's book signing Friday night after work, but I had an hour or so to kill beforehand, so I stopped by Tattoo City on the way. Mary Joy, Jen Lee and Kahlil were there, and Mary was kind enough to offer me a shop tour. I got tattooed there once about 10 years ago, but I didn't get a guided tour of all the incredible original flash (including OGs by Sailor Jerry, Bert Grimm, and several Hardy sheets, some of which were signed "Ed Talbott"). We walked over to the signing, which was great. I got a book, which Ed graciously signed, then talked for a while with the always affable Doug Hardy and saw Ross Jones, Bill and Junii Salmon, Dr. Claw, and Shad (Horitskukikage), who was in town visiting the Diamond Club. Doug and Mary pointed out various people in attendance, including V. Vale (who published the Modern Primitives book), a guy who has a mid-70s backpiece from Ed, and Ron Nagle, a ceramics artist who also did all the sound effects for The Exorcist. So yeah. That's an awesome thing I did (although I was the least awesome aspect of it).2 points

What a precious lady. I would love to get tattooed by her. So much respect, I mean to tattoo for the vast majority of your lifespan is a pretty huge thing. Her arms are so beautiful, too! I really love (real) tribal tattoos, they're so impacting. Awesome video, thank you for sharing. I'm going to see if I can find any more articles or documentation on her.1 point -

Will you have a rental or are you on foot? There are a few bars in the vicinity, but nothing like next door or anything. Make Westing, Somar, The Legionnaire and Cafe Van Kleef are the closest within walking distance. My favorite bars, Trappist and Beer Revolution, are a little further and would probably require a car, but totally worth it. As far as food goes, depends on what you're looking for. If you have a car, Rosamunde for gourmet sausages is where I'd go. Trueburger has arguably the best burger in Oakland. Ike's has the best sandwiches in The Bay. Hawker Fare has awesome Asian fusion rice bowls. That's all just off the top. There's decent Mexican food that is actually walking distance from Temple. Not amazing, but it'll do for a quick fix. You can Yelp whatever's close to the area too depending on your preferences. Or when you check in for your appointment, just ask the counter help where they like to go. They're always going on food runs for the tattooers.1 point

I agree with this. Maybe it's because I was super nervous before getting my knee done, but for the most part, it wasn't all that bad. The worst bit was just below the kneecap and on the side of it. Not really looking forward to the knee ditch, though.1 point

If the tattoo is wrapped by the tattooer that is the last time anything happens to it. I have never had much problem healing, but I am getting my knee tattooed in a three weeks so we'll see how that goes. Actually I'm getting my knee and my ribs tattooed on the same day. I am an idiot.1 point -

Too Many Tattoo Machines??
mattdiehl reacted to David Flores for a topic
I don't know about ever, but in his case anyone he brought in was his client since he hadn't graduated to doing walk ins, so every week he brought in a new machine, and didn't tattoo someone, he essentially had more machines than clients. He still has a drawer with a bunch of supplies at the shop, but nothing worth borrowing even in a pinch (except maybe the case of nitrile gloves in there), that was the other thing none of his machines were even that nice and he bought cheap pigment1 point -

I'm not sure if this link will work but here's a link to a short instagram video of my completed sleeve. It's still healing so some bits are a little bit pink still but it gives a decent idea of what it looks like until I can get some good pictures of it. There are some good shops in the LA area worth checking out. Bob Roberts Spotlight tattoo, Darkhorse Tattoo, Gold Rush Tattoo, a lot more, but I know time is limited. Who are you getting tattooed by in San Diego? @kimkong - - - Updated - - - Can't wait for my little road trip on Monday. I am going to Seattle to get tattooed by Matt Arriola but appt is not till late in the day so going to visit some other shops and hang out in Seattle, probably come back Tuesday evening. After that I probably will slow down until my appt with Matt Howse in August.1 point -
