  4. That's what I mean by education. It's obvious to you and I but a lot of people don't understand that. They see something they like on the internet, decided it's perfect and the idea of letting someone change it is scary since they haven't seen the finished product. Enter lazy/freedom tattooer, and there's another rip off on instagram. And William, it's the art being questioned not the tattooing itself. 9 times out of ten the ripped tattoo is poorly applied or even scratcher bad which is part of the reason I'm past caring ha.

  7. New in the last two weeks: From Heath Nock today during his guest spot at Handcrafted Miami: And the start of my back, a Sailor Jerry remix from Chris Buckholts at Howl Tattoo/Gallery in Fort Myers, Florida. Little bit of a cover up in that. Kinda self conscious about seeing my entire back but whatever you guys are kind.

I can probably do it. But something always seems to come up last minute and fucks my steez up. But if I do make it, I'll be the youngest at 22, @HaydenRose, so don't worry too much. haha

  14. God damned swollen thigh. Tried wrapping it the first two nights and it made my massive thunder thigh blow up twice the size. Everyone at work keeps commenting about my nice dresses and skirts ... I cannot wait to be back in my jeans next week and look like my frumpy self!

  15. Thanks! I think that's pretty cool! As much as I hate living in South Florida, I've been here for 20 years and consider it home. Figured Florida should be with me wherever I go. Had no idea he was going to add in them oranges but I think they round out the piece nicely. Kinda sad there was no tattooed blood somewhere in there though!

    Upcoming Tattoos

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I've been doing the compulsive email checking thing waiting to hear if I'm able to get tattooed by somebody who is guesting at a local shop. Don't want to say too much lest I curse myself (I am superstitious about these things), but if this works out I'll hopefully be finishing off my right arm sooner than I was expecting to and to say I'm excited about it is an understatement.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I did it. I went through all 402 pages of this thread again and some of the old tattoo pictures I remember being stoked on seeing years ago and they still bring a smile to my face. You guys saved an at the time 18 year old kiddo from making horrible life choices. I love you all and I love this forum. Keep on being awesome!

  19. Haha, I've noticed this too. Reminds me of the Spider Murphy's aftercare card, I always thought it was hilarious. "Don't get wasted, pass out on your friend's couch, and let the dog lick it all night."

  20. @Lori Todd Those are gorgeous!! gorgeous! Super jealous of your back right now. This trade was finished last night. Nothing majestic, but I'm grateful for the rad exchange of friendship. Go get tattooed at 13!

  21. That is my thoughts exactly, but I don't want to stop anyone from submitting what they feel they want to. How does the saying go again, when it is just an outline it should look good, when it's shaded it should look finished and when it's colored it should look perfect.

  22. with the level of tattoos on here hard to see a half done tattoo winning, but still fun to see progress, but I guess there is other threads to do that.

    Full Back Piece Thread

There are some outstanding back pieces in this thread and it's ridiculous. @ironchef I think you were at King Ave getting work done on your back while I was having my second session with Chris. I think it was on a Tuesday some time back in May if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to get a closer look at it but didn't want to bother you guys. As for back pieces go here is one that O'Donnell just did. Not sure if it's from anyone here but this thing is unreal.

  31. I'm a new poster here, and thought i'd say hi in this thread. My backpiece, finished a couple of months ago, by the amazing Stewart Robson of Frith Street tattoo. It was an absolute pleasure getting this piece, and getting to spend time with such a knowledgeable and insightful guy; an experience I was very lucky to have. Excuse the inlarged instagram pic, it's all I have

  38. After five months or so of getting tattooed at a more or less sane pace, this month I seem to be returning to full-on insanity. Filled in the gaps on my chest with a pair of butterflies yesterday by Robert Ryan--I really love my tattoos from him, and I love going out to Electric, even if it means braving New Jersey transit.

  39. About 7 weeks ago, I got my first tattoo, which was the words "Love will tear us apart again" written down the centre of my forearm. Almost four weeks ago I got my second tattoo, the reading of the first discovered pulsar, also the cover of Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures," completing the piece. A little background on the piece: when I was 16, quite a few serious events unfolded in my life. I was a foster child at the time, and I had some mental health issues that resulted in me being volleyed about from hospital to hospital as psychiatrists picked apart my brain and my behavioural problems. At some point I ended up at a hospital in up-state New York, where I saw the movie "Donnie Darko" for the first time. To cut the story down to size, I identified with the movie. One song in it particularly caught me: Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." I listened to it daily. Fast forward a year, give or take, and while living in a group home, one of the boys I lived with gave me the "Unknown Pleasures" CD for Secret Santa. He never got the help he needed, or the family he needed, and wasn't as fortunate as I was. So while this piece is also a tribute to one of my favourite bands, it is mainly a reminder of a time in my life, and of how lucky I am. I've already had several kids in big glasses and flannel come up to me in New York and complain that "Love Will Tear Us Apart" isn't on "Unknown Pleasures." Having to deal with them is probably my only regret about this tattoo. EDIT: Sorry about the huge pictures. Is there any way to resize them so they don't punch everyone in the face with how big they are?

  40. I think my ridiculous run of tattooing is at an end. After months and months of getting work done, I am getting very close to my wedding and my attention must surely turn towards this most important day. My love would like very much if I wasn't taped up, or wounded, or healing as we head into the home stretch. I am certain she is right. So, I had a couple of little filler tattoos done to largely finish up my right arm sleeve. Look for the dice and the flower above them. It has been a great experience, made all the better by being able to share my tattooing with the great folks here at LST. But, come August, work begins on my collar.

  46. who says he charges 400+/hr? maybe when he was in miami? I know that shop charges a lot.. hahaha I agree with you about that! Garver doesn't charge 400 now that he is in NYC. He charges less .. Not ruffling my feathers it's just Chris is a super nice and humble guy .. Jeff Gogue is a bad ass artist.. I totally agree with you.. He a bit different than garver in terms of style.. Also Jeff is from Oregon? no? There is a huge cost of living than NYC!! Hahaha.. Like i said the average cost for a high end tattoo in NY is 200.. I know it's probably a lot less in Oregon. Garver is totally worth his rates in NYC..
