  4. My wife finished her bachelors degree about a month ago and when she was done, we quickly went and got 2 pair of roller skates and a decent Trek bike to match mine. There's a LONG walking/biking/skating trail near us that we use a lot. Today, we went to a skating class. We've both skated off and on for years but decided we'd take a few classes to build some real skills. It was GREAT! Plan for the next year: I boost my skills and find a better job, we go to England (and I visit the Triumph motorcycle plant and join the Bristol Tattoo Club) and then she starts on her library degree...

  9. Darl Gnau at Charmed Life Tattoo and Gallery in Maryland I really can't speak highly enough about this dude. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of neo-traditional tattooing, he just kills it on so many levels that you can't help but love what he does. Darl’s Portfolio | Charmed Life Gallery

  10. Got this one a couple of weeks ago from El Monga @ Aloha Tattoos, Barcelona. Left shin, right below the knee, which the ears kinda wrap around a bit. The rest was pretty bearable, but those bits hurt like hell.

    How about an art show?

Y'all may have seen this stained glass piece I've been working on for a few weeks on the Instagrams: Brokeback lady skull based on Mike Fite's banner/bizcard as a gift for him from myself and a good buddy of his. I have one of his variations on it on my thing. Waiting on the wood framing stock to come in so I can ship it off to him. Doing the piece was a big feat for me and I'm super happy how it is coming out. I look forward to doing more adaptations of flash as I grow my personal collection.

    Upcoming Tattoos

Starting on my back tomorrow from a nice kid in Fort Myers. I really loved a drawing he did and had been meaning to get a piece from him ... It's an adaptation of a sailor Jerry Indian lady head. Taking a bit of a leap of faith in him, but I like his work a lot and love the drawing. It'll be his first back piece but we aren't going to fill it completely edge-to-edge. Finally getting my alligator piece from Heath Nock at Handcrafted Miami a week or so. Had to stop myself from booking with Destroy Troy while he is in town for the convention next week. I really want a shark skull hat tho! Btw, I've missed y'all. It's been a crazy few weeks at work and I've just not spent much time on here.

  34. I think that they pretty much always have time for walk-ins. There are a couple of different locations so I am sure someone can get you in. I would not expect Mike Wilson to have time, but everyone there is incredible. Mike Bruce does some of the best shit out there, and the rest of the tattooers there are all very good. Also they have a ton of guest artists coming and going.

  35. I've found, in my experience, that the best tattooers are the nicest and most professional ones. Tattooers that have big egos and harsh personalities are probably just overcompensating for/grumpy about their sub-par work. Just my $.02.

  37. Had to laugh the other day. I work with this one guy for years, he always wears a static-control lab coat due to the area he works in. We all have the coats, he just wears his all the time. I was driving home the other day from work and i'm passing him on the highway, I see a tattooed arm leaning on his door, he sees me coming up on the left and pulls his arm in. Another closet tattooed freak on the payroll. Rob

  40. When I met my (now EX) husband I already had a tattoo and he didn't have any. He decided to get one but didn't want me to get anymore as he didn't really like them on women  We have now split up and I have recently started dating again and had a brief fling with an old friend who has lots of tattoos. Tattooed people are more interesting naked ;)

  48. I found this, but I can't find the book for sale or the author's name anywhere..... Referencing the popular book, "Hail to the Tat: An Illustrated History of Presidential Tattoos," 35 of the 43 presidents sported skin art. Amongst the First Citizen's tattoos, the most popular were on the arm, thus starting the tradition that no American President can be photographed wearing a tank top. The most famous tattoo involved a small eagle holding a broad sword (demonstrated in the first source) fighting Jack "Galveston Giant" Johnson. Additionally, several presidential tattoos stand out: Andrew Jackson sported a tomahawk that ran the length of the inside of his left leg; James K. Polk is historically known to be the first white man to have a Chinese character as a tattoo (the symbol for "eager"); James Buchanon with a scantily-clad brunette on his chest as well as the acronym "BFL" in six inch lettering on his abdomen (BFL standing for "bachelor for life"); and William McKinley with a cartoon representation of himself as the Monopoly man carrying a bulging sack with a $ symbol.
