People are wrong. On one leg I've got a shark, a coffee cup, a raven and skull, a mini coffin, a skull and dagger, a smashing pumpkins logo, the letter P, a torch, an apple... and a few more. Don't worry about other people, who sound like they have no tattoos anyway.

  7. Ha ha not only am I tattooed but I lift weights. I deadlifted his bodyweight not long ago. Yeah buddy, you keep wrinkling your nose at me. Let's just see how that goes...

  8. This is exactly why Grime told me to keep my back piece off the internet. I'm glad I listened to him. Copying flash is nothing like copying a totally custom piece made specifically for the client. You just can't compare the 2. I commented on that 3re pictures instagram and asked if he was proud that he completely copied another persons tattoo. We'll see what he says...

  15. aww, that's so lovely. I think mom tattoos are really special, I'm glad that she got to see it before she passed. And in my opinion, tattoos don't always have to be technically outstanding to be good tattoos. A lot of it is in the intention of the tattoo and the personal meaning that you are embodying. Thanks for sharing that (: @guitguy she's 54 :p

  16. So since pretty much forever, I'd been bugging my mom to get a tattoo. She can be really socially conservative and definitely came from the "tattoos are trash" generation. After enough bugging, it became pretty clear that she's never going to be tattooed, so I started bugging her to come with me to get a mom tattoo so she can be a part of the process and get a feel for how rad the shop environment is. That kept getting pushed back farther and farther until I realized again that it wasn't going to happen. So basically, I gave her the "you're going to be part of tattooing whether you like it or not" talk, and told her that if she wasn't going to participate as a third party, she can participate as a first party and tattoo me instead. So she did. isn't it terrible? I love it so much. It's supposed to be a bear, looks kind of like a weasel, 100% precious and motherly. Moms rule!

  20. I really don't understand it either. I guess some guys think tattoos make women seem too macho or manly. I guess their brain sees it like muscles. Good on a guy but not a woman. I think it's daft. Oh well. More tattooed women for me!

  21. (Speaking as a client and not an artist here, so feel free to ignore) For larger pieces (with multiple sittings), most shops I've been in require a deposit that is applied to the last sitting of the tattoo to ensure the customer actually returns to finish the piece. Makes perfect sense to me from both the artist's and customer's perspetive!

  23. I don't get it either. It's too much like "I can do it and it's ok, but you can't do it b/c I say so" and that irritates me. Of course, I was just showing my husband pictures on flowers I like (traditional/English roses) and there was much wrinkling of the nose and "I'll be married to an old sailor, AYE matey, ahoy" butthead. It makes me give the pictures an eyebrow raise, wondering if there's something wrong w/my taste but dangit, they're pretty so he can stick it.

  24. It isn't worth wasting your time caring about what tattoos other people get. People have been getting tattoos for as long as there have been people, I have no reason to believe that people will ever stop getting tattoos. It's larger than all of us and it will survive. Sorry for being a dirty hippie there.

If anyone is interested in pictures of the cute version of Amsterdam where I live (Leiden) Check out the pictures i put on my travelpage: www.facebook.com/drifterineurope next monday we're going back to Germany and then back up north to visit @Johannes again. 28. Just for the heck of it, I'll throw in my right arm 3/4 sleeve done a couple of years ago by Henning Jorgensen when he was guest tattooing at Kings Avenue Tattoo (both the Manhattan and Long Island shops). This picture was actually compiled by Henning and shared with me. Enjoy!

  29. a couple of years back the marine corps changed their tattoo policy and once they caught wind of it a lot of them started to get their sleeves finished or even started so they could be grandfathered into the new policy. I had 3 weeks booked solid of outlines. the longest one that i had was 11 hours 5 hours on each arm with a break in between for the outline. she was fucking tough, i couldnt imagine getting 10 hours of outline

    "My tattoo artist..."

Why does it bother you? I find it kind of endearing, as it usually means that said client gets tattooed by the same person consistently. We don't own our friends or our coworkers or our dentist, but we still say "my friend, my coworker, my dentist." I don't see much of a difference?

  42. My daughter was so into drawing on herself when she was little!! Every time she got ahold of a marker she was coloring on her arms and legs... one time (while I was out of town) she got into a multi-pack of colored sharpies and drew on herself scalp to toe!! I'm not at all surprised that now, as she approaches her 18th birthday, she's planning to get a tattoo!!
