    Weird tattoos

When I got tattooed by Jeff Rassier I told him to "make it as weird as possible", and his responses was "I only know how to tattoo one way". It's just in him, I guess.

  18. Just for the heck of it, I'll throw in my right arm 3/4 sleeve done a couple of years ago by Henning Jorgensen when he was guest tattooing at Kings Avenue Tattoo (both the Manhattan and Long Island shops). This picture was actually compiled by Henning and shared with me. Enjoy!

    Re-wrapping tattoos

I thought that it might be helpful to update my experiences with rewrapping tattoos. I've had mixed luck with healing my tattoos and need some touchups (I suspect my problem was likely that I babied my tattoos too much), but rewrapping plus a dry heal seems to give me great results. The first picture I attached here is of my elbow, healed about three and a half months after rewrapping, and I think it held the pigment really well. There was some light scabbing there that lasted a couple of weeks, but it kept the black and the greys healed, in Hooper's estimation, "beautifully". I'm also including a couple of pictures of my arm as it looks now, at three days after being tattooed, and four days, just to show the rate at which it's healing. Again, no scabbing, just that light flaky peeling.

    Weird tattoos

Hell, man- you haven't even scratched the surface of weird. Those tattoos are more stylistic choices than anything else. Rassier, Harrison, Lehi, Lum have much weirder work than that. As to why, why the hell not? Why does anyone want anything-because it speaks to them.

    Upcoming Tattoos

Im always impressed at the amount of tattoos people on this forum get. I get more tattoos than any of my close friends here in town, but this forum always puts me to shame. That being said I got a small spider above my kneecap yesterday. I was looking through the partially finished sheets in the back and spotted a spider I had never seen. It didn't quite fit so he had to redraw a couple of the legs on me, but turned out pretty cool. Ross Ferrie brought me into the tattoo world and it was nice to sit down and get a tattoo from him, like we used to do. Also right after he finished a friend of his from when he first started tattooing came in and got to relive some stories of Chris Conn, Robert Klem and Mav Mess's early days of tattooing.

  38. Last weekend I ran my first group 5k. I had three hours of sleep and a pot brownie in my system, but I crossed the finish line at 25:04, which is a personal best for me. A year ago on 9th May I was 240lbs. I was unhealthy. I was in a relationship with someone who cheated on me, lied to me and stole from my family and I. When she left, I got healthy. Going from that lifestyle to 5ks and being a coach to my friends trying to get healthy has been a weird and wonderful switch.

  40. I don't think I know anyone who has over let's say 20 tattoos that kind of wish they could cover up or remove at least one of them. I don't think any of these people regret getting heavily tattooed, just either they made a bad design choice or got tattooed someone who didn't know what they were doing. Saying people regret their tattoo kind of infers that they don't want to have a tattoo. I have a tattoo I want removed, but will probably never do it, but still would rather have it gone and put something else there, but at this point what is the point, they all blend together anyways.

  45. I am so glad that I found this thread. I go through the same thing most of the time. Though like most everyone else has said, this feeling is fleeting. It only lasts for about a day or two. I think it has to relate to the change that has taken place. You body is exhausted from the impact of the tattoo machine and the healing process. It is also a change that you have to prepare for mentally as well. Your brain knows that you have been in some sort of pain for the past few hours, but it take a while for the mind to comprehend that it's permanent. Even though you may have planned it out for months, change is change.
