  3. Just for the heck of it, I'll throw in my right arm 3/4 sleeve done a couple of years ago by Henning Jorgensen when he was guest tattooing at Kings Avenue Tattoo (both the Manhattan and Long Island shops). This picture was actually compiled by Henning and shared with me. Enjoy!

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Not a tattoo but a cool tattoo souvenir. I scored these shoes on eBay 6 months ago, they were designed by Grime for Vans and part of the proceeds went to Shriner’s Hospital Burn Center for Children. I brought them up to SF with me last week to have Grime personalize them for me :D Stoked on them!!!

  10. Hey! I am brand new. Jumping in at the deep end. I love this forum - been lurking for ages! I had this namakubi done by Danny Rossiter from Rain City in Manchester, UK. He's from New Zealand but has been tattooing here for years now, very talented and very underrated! Didn't an awesome tiger win last time??

  11. Hah! I was thinking the other day how much money I spend on tattoos (I don't have many tattoos yet so I'm only around the price of a small car into my collection), thinking that I don't actually have that much money that I can spend what I do on tattoos, and then realizing that I had this money too before I started getting tattooed and what do I have to show for it? A couple of guitars and amps, but mainly mostly nothing.

  25. eat a BIG FUCKING BREAKFAST and keep hydrated. I like to have lots of protein on hand when I get tattooed. Trail mix, fruit, and jerky are life savers! Any sort of high-calorie yet nutritious snack, really. edit: ah damn, you've already gotten tattooed by the time you've read this. Well.. for future reference! But to answer the initial question, my longest session sitting and tattooing was 7 hours on myself. Never again. The longest I've sat for someone else was 4 and I think the longest I've worked for was 6. The sense of accomplishment makes it worth it in my opinion.

  26. Good for you and your daughters.

  27. Well... This marks 6 months since I took my daughters and left an angry wee man who had a hold over me for 10 years of my life. I guess leaving an abusive relationship is pretty awesome. I think a couple of drinks tonight, whilst packing up the house to move tomorrow ,is in order !

  28. So here she is.. I'm pretty in love with her.. shes different from the other girls hes done for me. Its right above my elbow on the back of my arm (look how swollen my elbow is!) Back next week for a butterfly in the elbow ditch. Did i mention....I love her? Taken from Alec Benjamin's Instagram @alec_redhotandblue

  29. Sorry to those that have already seen it on Instagram, but I'm so stoked that I have to post it here also. Paul Dobleman is one of my favorite tattooers and I wanted to plan a trip out to SF to get tattooed by him; I've even been saving this spot on my arm for him. Saw that he was doing a guest spot here in NYC at Kings Ave, but he got booked up very fast. Luckily, I was able to grab one of his cancellations (thanks to @CABS for the heads up!). So I got my bike running over the weekend and took a rainy ride out to Kings Ave in Long Island on Monday. Rode home with this pretty lady from Paul. A very cool experience; couldn't be happier with this one!

  32. Thank you for the kind words, everyone. All credit goes to El Monga. Aren't they awesome? They're one of my favorite details in the tattoo. In fact, they're a testament to how great a tattooer El Monga is: I mentioned that I liked medieval themes in tattoos, so in addition to putting the castles, etc. in there, he also gave the entire tattoo sort of woodcut-from-the-middle-ages look, and I feel like the boots are ripped straight from that sort of imagery, as well. They really round out the overall aesthetic of the tattoo in my opinion. ...hopefully that made sense. I didn't sleep much last night.

    Lower leg tattoo

I don't know if you can see the swelling in my ankle, but here it is. I think it was even worse by the end of the day. The other side of my leg is a matching rose but it was not colored in. It was less swollen but more red. Even the untattooed parts were red. Judging by the experiences everybody is describing here, I'd say if you just have nasty swelling and redness that it's probably normal and unrelated to the color. Of course, I don't know for sure. Just thought if your leg looks anything like mine maybe you'll feel better about it. Hopefully I'll get the other side finished on Monday. More swelling...

  35. Yeah I know! I would have been happy enough with just an awesome tattoo, but no, Frank is just above and beyond, got me into any of his gigs on the guestlist, came over to chat, even gave me a shoutout on stage. I cant say enough good things about him! Come on, if we didn't spend money on tattoos it would just get wasted!

  36. He's definitely got huge talent and what a nice guy too (his wife is lovely as well). I saw his band a few months after he tattooed me and he refused to let me pay for the merch i was buying, which i thought was a gesture he really didn't have to make. I love frith street too - my bank balance isn't so fond of the place but what else am i gonna spend my money on, heating bills and food?!

  39. Yes Paul Roe of Britishink Tattoo in Washington DC....he is one of the only tattoo artists in the US allowed to tattoo the "bat"....given permission by Jimmie Skuse! If I had made it back up to Philly on the Sunday I would have just gotten it done by Jimmie.....but I just could make it back up! @gougetheeyes ..... The Hubby and I will be bouncing all over Brooklyn and Queens tomorrow! Going to stop by Smith Street when they open (hopefully) .... then to R&D Tattoo in Queens .... then back to Brooklyn to Mike Perfetto's shop to meet up with Tony Polito and his wife and then out to dinner with them I think! If you think you saw me in Brooklyn tomorrow.....then you probably did! :D Gonna try to catch a walk in at Smith Street tomorrow if I can get there in time! I may come back down Sunday as well depending on what happens and how finances hold out..... I'll be bouncing all over Long Island on Saturday....Cliff's Tattoo.....Top Hat Tattoo (Marvin Moskowitz)......then down to stop in at Kings Ave to see if Grez has anything open....and finally to Tattooing by Richie to see Richie Montgomery dinner with them I think

    Rose tattoos

These roses are unusual (from http://web.stagram.com/p/436134954046273325_6075972): And then this image has interesting roses. They have the little jelly candies in the middle and are also flat and opened on the outside with the middles still unopened. I think that is kind of interesting. I wish I knew what to call the jelly candies. (From .@mykechambers | #tattoo #tattoos | Webstagram - the best Instagram viewer)

  46. Kylesa did a free all-ages show last night, which doesn't happen around often enough. Was really cool to see a big turnout of all generations and more faces than the usual people I see out. Made me feel a lot younger even if I was in the top 5% of the old kids attending.
