  2. I guess I'll go first, but I already have a feeling that I'll be going up against some really tough competition this month. Nick Colella formerly of Chicago Tattoo Co., currently going rogue until he makes an announcement about whatever he has in the works:

  6. And he tattooed this eagle on me. As always, he was a true professional, and I enjoyed shooting the shit with him as he worked. Chicago's favorite, for sure.

  7. I got the opportunity to get tattooed by Stewart Robson while he was up in Scotland for the Scottish Tattoo Convention. After the convention Stewart was tattooing at Lab Monkey Tattoo in Stirling so I travelled through and got this Kitsune mask on my shoulder/chest. This is my second small tattoo from Stewart and I suspect it wont be the last. Edit: sorry the picture is massive but I can't seem to make it smaller...

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

So I wasn't sure if I was going to post any of my new tattoos but decided in the end to just go for it. I moved to France four months ago and have been sat in a lab isolated from the world pretty much ever since. I went to the Mondial du Tatouage show in Paris for three days as a birthday present to myself. I booked in with Stewart Robson and Valerie Vargas from Frith Street and also Greg Christian. I ended up getting tattooed six times in three days. It was also my first convention and I'm going to make sure I go to a few more :D I stole all the pictures from the respective artist's instagrams apart from one which I took with my phone. Demon head on knee - Stewart Robson (Frith Street Tattoo) Geisha Girl Head - Cody Miller (Blackheart Tattoo) Flaming Torch - Greg Christian Castle - Cody Miller (Blackheart Tattoo) Medusa Head - Valerie Vargas (Frith Street Tattoo) Devil Head - Nick Roddin (Blackheart Tattoo) I can't wait for the convention next year

  10. Thanks guys. These competitions are always stiff with how many good tattoos everyone's getting. After sitting out many a months, I'm just glad I can at least hang with the big dogs. Plus I really want my favorite t shirt back :(

  14. On Saturday I had my left inner forearm tattooed from elbow ditch to wrist, and I keep doing double-takes at it now! Someone else has said it's worse in the mornings and I definitely get that. The piece was a long time in the planning and it turned out better than I could have expected, it's just the permanent reality of it on my arm I'm adjusting to! It doesn't help that I'm the only person I know with visible tattoos; I know I'm going to get critical and sometimes startled reactions from family and friends, so I suppose I'm just going to have to be able to deal with that.

  15. Hah! There will be no retirement in 40 years. Might as well do the forearms sooner than that. Also, HOLY SHITBALLS THOSE TATTOOS ARE ALL SO GOOD.

  17. I'm in the same boat. A few of my friends have tattoos, but of my closest friends, I'm the only one with pieces down my forearms. I too have been getting "the look" from people who just don't understand. I am pretty sure they will adjust and be ok with it once the initial shock wears off. And if they don't, well, not much I can do about that. As for my family, well...that's entirely different. I will get no support on that end. That's one of the reasons I like this forum so much. I may not have like-minded tattoo collectors and fans in my personal life (except for my fiancée, who is AWESOME) , but I find them here. Finally a place I can talk tattoos with people who get it.

  24. I can't believe anybody who spends that much time on their hair would randomly get a tattoo his friends picked. For real though, Ryan Gosling isn't that bad I couldn't imagine the tattoos I would have if i played this game w/ my friends.

    Post-tattoo blues anyone?

I hear that. Don't have the post-tattoo blues, but right now I have the "FUCK, big tattoos are big commitments" blues as I begin to plan my next trip down to NYC to blast away at my arm some more.

  28. Nope I can't see it ending too well. She told me she finds them "repulsive", so yeah. Not good. I also have a massive obstinate streak and do resent someone telling me what I can and can't do with my body and money, so I don't think that helps the situation too much either.

Hello Wavey! I'm healing (but not yet peeling) too - I got my first forearm tattoo on Saturday, also a biggie, and have been looking like Pop-Eye the sailor man since then! Swelling seems to be going down today though.

  37. Thanks everyone :) The only bad thing was that it made me realise I'm running out of space. Only really my thighs and ribs left now, well my lower arms too but they'll be my retirement present in 40 years or so if I'm lucky

  39. Well for me it's kind of the flip. I look very much like I do everything but don't touch anything. Not "Straight Edge" I hate that title, and I'm not against most, just not for me. I usually get a weird look when going out with my daughter because she's all in pink and crap and I'm all in black with metal shirts and tattoos. It's fun that way though. Luckily she looks like me so people don't think I kidnapped her. Anyway, another note about my dad, he respected me much more that I just went and did it and told him even if he was against it. He'd rather me have not lied. Another important thought for some.

  44. Mine has a lot of outline work and I can't believe he got all of it on me in 3hrs and 40 mins. It was rough to get through, but there was no way I was gonna puss out on it. It's all done now, touchups and all (reminds me, I need to get a good , healed pic of my back, without florescent lights glaring off of Vaseline) I'm so happy to have it and that I get to keep it till I'm worm dirt. I never thought I couldn't finish it, but I'm glad I never have to put myself through that again. I'm a bit obsessive about getting large multi-session tattoos finished in the order I started them.

  47. I always feel a little weird running to the computer to upload a pic of a new tattoo, I don't know why. I like to savor it for a little. Then I rush to Instagram to pop it up hahaha. But anyway here's what I got on Sunday from Chris Smith at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago. He took the picture. I stole it because I couldn't get a better shot, it's tough to get a really good photo. You get the idea.

  48. Moahaha is right! It sounds like every Norwegian gets tattooed like a pro. I haven't quit my job because I love my job for the first time in my life. However, we're moving into a much better place on the first and after we get back from a summer trip are going to look into adopting a dawg. Feeling pretty good myself right about now..
