  2. So, I'm reaching the end of my recent spree of tattooing. I've got one more appointment on Wednesday, then I'm taking some time off. Letting myself heal for a while. I had two done today by Tim Pausinger at The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop. I'm going to post the eagle. The tiger head on my elbow is totally swollen and wont make for a good pic at this point.

Started this with Koeplinger a couple days ago. It's incredibly swollen, so it was hard to get a decent shot of it.

@Mark Bee, that eagle is so good! Very classic and awesome. Ditto for @Nick C. When an eagle's done right--and those are--it's just so damn right. @Iwar: Welcome to the heavy black knee club! That spot right under the kneecap tickles, don't it? :D That thing looks so good. And yes, it is impossible to photograph. @lving4today: I'm tired of telling you how much I love that tiger.

  12. Thank you, hogg. I'm very happy with it. I can't stop admiring @heathenist 's latest and @Iwar 's knee tattoo. I have reconsidered doing my knees after seeing his. Also - @living4today 's tiger is spectacular. Such amazing work on these pages. Simply amazing.

  14. Hey Folks, Just wanted to share my experience from a few years ago dealing with contact dermatitis after a new tattoo. Back in late 2011, I had started a thigh piece on my left thigh which covered basically almost the entire front and side of the left thigh. After a couple of days, I developed a bunch of red spots on the back of my thigh, all outside of the tattoo itself. It wasn't a localized rash as it ran up and down the length of thigh and was in random areas but nothing on the ink itself. My artist unfortunately was just doing a guest spot locally and returned to his country. Best I could do was send me him pictures and even he was puzzled to the point where he recommended I see a doctor. But before seeing a doctor, I luckily had the benefit of three very good friends to contact. These were old college friends, all of whom were pharmacists and have encountered all types of ailments. One was even tattooed, so I called her first. She hit the nail on the head with her initial diagnosis. She asked if the spots were small and if any had popped and oozing clear serum. When I confirmed, she knew it was contact dermatitis. It basically happened because my skin is normally sensitive and was subjected to the trauma of tattooing. Add to the fact I normally wear briefs and switched to boxers to be comfortable and let the tattoo breathe but by doing so, added new cloth material contacting an area that was already irritated. Plus the shaving and the tape holding the saran wrap in place didn't help either. The fix? Good old Benedryl, both in pill and topical cream format in over the counter form. Within a couple of days, all the spots cleared up. More info on contact dermatitis from WebMD: Contact Dermatitis Causes, Symptoms, Treatments, & More I know everyone wants their tattoos to heal up without any issues and try to be diligent about aftercare. I know I do and sometimes verge on madness since it is a permanent investment in my eyes. I did myself a huge favor by getting to know my own body and what works with it. There's no one true formula or cure all that's ideal for everyone. Speak to your artist and the shop management about their recommendations for aftercare and then turn it into your own personal regime that suits you. Ideally, if at all possible, share your experience with the tattoo community so that others can benefit from your experience. Cheers.

  15. I really dig this thing. I told you on Instagram already, but I am getting a Kali on the 12th from Matt Arriola. I asked him to get kinda of crazy with it so I don't know what to expect.

  16. That's awesome! Someone should make a junk food flash set at some point. I don't have any problems with the my knee now, except that it looks a little freaky because of the swelling. Getting it was a bitch though. It sucks that I have one more to go.

  21. I stopped by the local Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday while running errands. Saw the Coppertone Tattoo sunscreen and compared it to several different labeled sunscreens in the Coppertone line. Pretty much the same active ingredients at the same percentages. Just marketing and packaging changes.

    Hello from London

Hello all So here is my hello! I live in London but I am from Berlin so please forgive any spelling/grammar mistakes. I got my first tattoo about 10 years ago I think but wanted one long before that. I currently still have a lot of space on my body. I have only one biggish tattoo and a couple more small ones. I am booked in for another one in 2 weeks and can't wait! It's been a while since my last one and I had a massive urge to get something new. A lot of space on my body is kind of planned out but I always get new and more ideas. I love looking at tattoos and reading about them and that is why I decided to join. I am loocking forward to meeting people and broaden my horizon in regards to tattoos.

But in comparison to the tattoo George did a day before it wasn't as bad. I think not having sleep is a big factor so I was much better rested for tony. The groin is stupid though

  32. I have a few tattoo's that don't "match" the rest. I didn't get them because the style was hot at the time (it wasn't) I was just 20 and that's what I was into. Then what I was into when I was 30 was different. I think about getting them covered, but it's like why? It's a road map of my life (lame way to put it, I know, it only sounds cool if you're a Russian prisoner) and so it's just what I was into when I was that age. I get more OCD about colors matching than styles on a certain limb or part. I also prefer, for myself, patchwork style. A ton of random tattoos, vs. 1 big sleeve or piece. Except the back, that large slab of skin with no nipples was made for 1 big ass tattoo.

That's why I hate tattoos in the summer. I love taking my daughter to the beach so I'll be done after June for a while unless someone awesome guest spots who I can't miss. I think in May me and my wife will be picking out each others (not as sweet as you think, we're both assholes) and getting that. We've decided wall flash only, no drug related art, no words. We'll probably hit Taylor Street again since they're fun and down with that sort of crap.

  39. I doubt that you will be rushed. Dreyfus, the shop guy, that booked you in is really good at his job. He was very helpful when I got tattooed by Steve about a month ago. I was only in Austin for four days with limited time to get tattooed, and he worked it out for me. Also I got tattooed by Tony when he was visiting Seattle, and he is pretty fast. They are all very professional. I am sure you will get what you want as long as your expectations are within reason. Which I am sure they are.

  40. It can be your orange phase! Or just get a blue tiger. Funny, just got a little dragon head yesterday and we stayed away from greens and reds just because it was bookended by two tattoos with a bunch of greens and reds.. used muted blues, purples and yellow. Came out awesome. - - - Updated - - - Just see what Mr. Hundahl says, I'm sure his take will be better than ours.

    Hello From Vancouver BC

I think a place that is charging you a good bit below the going rate for good tattoos in Vancouver, that tells you that you can go in "almost anytime" instead of setting an appointment, and is going to tattoo a 16 year old is probably not going to give you a great tattoo.

  47. I don't have any cover-ups on my body but I tattoo a hell of a lot of them. Most of the larger work that I do (bigger than 1/2 sleeve) usually incorporates some kind of cover-up. I started to make a point of NOT taking a 'before' picture. Sometimes I do, but I found that the cover-up requests got bigger and bigger the more cover-ups I showed. Covering a half sleeve sized tattoo with a full sleeve compromises the end product but I sometimes enjoy the challenge and the problem-solving aspect of it. This is one of the more tricky ones from last year or so, when I used to take 'before' photos: I got an email today asking if I could cover a full sleeve - with a sleeve.
