    The Ditch

I have a lady head in the ditch of my right arm, and it's really well designed so that there is minimal distress in the hot spots.

    San Francisco!!

I LOVE this city!!! There is art everywhere! Lots of tattoos! Eye candy to the max! It is also sunny and I've been deep in the dark days of the Seattle winter and early spring, so maybe my sudden and intense (though hardly new) love for this place is influenced by the sun and warm(er) weather... Getting some work done at a coffee shop before a tattoo afternoon...today is a good day! <3 SF and you crazy people who live here. :)

  7. Do not get anything you are using to treat the rash on your healing tattoo. I have skin problems in and around the area I get tattooed almost ever time. There is a ton of trauma being done to the skin during a tattoo; even the best possible application can't stop that. Your skin reacts in several ways. For some people, nothing. Others may develope a "rash" around the area. Make sure you are not over moisturizing your tattoo and keep it clean. I am sure it will heal perfectly...however, if you are concerned enough to ask on here, you could also consult your tattooer. The person who tattooed you should ALWAYS be the first person you ask about any issue regarding your tattoo and healing. There is a whole lot of people who claim to know what they are talking about, your tattooer IS the expert for you.

  9. I wouldn't call them the blues, but when I first got my sleeve outlined to the wrist I had a "holy shit" moment. I had my back piece outlined yesterday and when I got home I had another "holy shit" moment. Not buyers remorse, just a "I can't believe I did this" moment. That's turned into a "fucking A!!!" feeling this morning. :-) Now if I could only stop looking at them every time I pass a mirror ...

  10. Your tattoo is a month old? Do not listen to the interweb or other people, go for sure and see the person who did it. Probably no big deal but "just put some oitment on it" isn't always the best solution. If its something totally non-related to the tattoo..ie the tattoo is healed up it may be something else that tattoo aftercare isn't going to address properly.

    The Ditch

the spot on my arm I hated the most. I appreciate ones that accent the action of the ditch, but anything there that looks good is a tattoo that works. Nothing beats a good ol' hinge but I can't find any good ones. Wish I had ore time to fish around on IG and whatnot but I'm on my way out the door to work. So here's some shit from Google. Sorry for sizing, I'm in a rush. Robert Ryan Someone named Cassy in Bournemouth Person I havent heard of named Kristy Walker Knee ditches are great too. Mitch Allenden I'd post mine, but they aren't stand-alone tattoos; the ditch in an over-all sleeve aren't quite the same in impact.

  12. @CultExciter @hogg @Duffa Thanks mates appreciate it. I must say full credit must go to Dean for how it is turning out, im just the fortunate recipient of this back piece. @Duffa No real secrets mate just a desire to get it done and get it done quick. I get asked fairly often if I am use to the pain and usually say the pain is the same I can just deal with it better. Some parts of the back are nothing more than a tickle and others like wasp stings... 3 more sessions and I should be done so looking forward to that!! Sorry for the shitty quality pictures too they are atrocious, the lighting in my house needs to be addressed.

  22. I always feel a little weird running to the computer to upload a pic of a new tattoo, I don't know why. I like to savor it for a little. Then I rush to Instagram to pop it up hahaha. But anyway here's what I got on Sunday from Chris Smith at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago. He took the picture. I stole it because I couldn't get a better shot, it's tough to get a really good photo. You get the idea.

  23. I've experienced this before. It's usually a very fleeting feeling, but I think it has to do with getting used to the change. I know I'd be a lot sadder if I woke up and a tattoo was missing.

    Cover up ?

Thank you for sharing this, Scott. I was specifically searching for examples of black tattoos that had been lightened for cover-up and was directed to your thread. It's very inspiring and gives me a great deal of hope (I've had one session done on a large black tattoo on my torso). I'll be sure to start a thread sharing my experiences as I go through the process, and I hope it reassures others as much as this has reassured me. Kind regards, Craig

We're ballin on a budget so not to sure if ill be able to swing it but I'm going to try like hell. Idk when ill make it back out to the city and there's too many good tattooers to choose from

    Ron Henry Wells

@Erica You don't have to convince me about Ron's designs! The last time I got tattooed by him it was super hard to choose what I wanted because so many of his designs are SO COOL. I ended up with the forest skull because that one is a mind-blower but the same can be said about so many of his designs. The negative space ones he's doing are so goddamned amazing. Love that guy. I can't even imagine what sorts of things people bring in.

    Ron Henry Wells

@Graeme Send him in!! I am sure Ron is a pro at seducing people with his own designs. because they are awesome. Working near RISD has made me really good at complimenting art school sketches while totally vetoing them. "that would make an amazing PAINTING!" - - - Updated - - - @ian he makes it really hard to settle on a tattoo design because looking through his flash for too long makes me want them all equally.

I am knee deep in working full time during the day and apprenticing to tattoo pretty much full time nights and weekends so I really have been pretty slammed with things to do....BUT.....much like has been said....i only post when I feel there is something that needs to be said or my post contributes in some way here! :) My post count will most likely remain low....but i am usually around!

    Upcoming Tattoos

I already mentioned this in the "Relationships and Tattoos" thread, but now it's official. My plainskin wife has finally (somewhat suddenly) decided she would like to get a tattoo. Seeing the chance for relationship building, and also wanting to get a tattoo by Tim Pausinger for myself, I showed her The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop's website and artist portfolios. End result - on the 2nd of April I'm booked in with Tim (he had a cancellation) and my wife will be seeing Lissa Vino (Tuesdays are her walk-in days so we'll be driving up nice and early). The more heavily tattooed among us probably experience this often, but this is the first time I've had an appointment booked for a significant tattoo (see 6 posts ago) and then squeezed a smaller one in before it. Very exciting!

  40. I didn't realize this was the thread you posted when you quit your job. I stepped down from being the manager of my department at my night job. They brought me in the office to offer me a promotion, and somehow my reaction was to tell them I was done being in a leadership role. I have managed to rearrange my schedule so I can eat dinner with the family 4 nights a week and didn't take a pay cut. Also I have more flexibility to go to the shop when I am needed on my days off from there.

    Walking Dead

Watch it after every episode. I'm always humored when one of the main characters I'm used to hearing with a southern accent pops up with a British or Canadian accent in real life.

    Post-tattoo blues anyone?

Agreed! My tattoos are more precious to me than almost any materialistic item in my life. The "can't be stolen, broken or lost" aspect makes a strong selling point. I lose and break shit all the time.

  49. Prior to getting tattooed in NYC, I totally did the tourist thing of going to the Statue of Liberty. That was a lot of fun. But, Thursday night a bunch of pals and I got together and made guitar pedals using perfboard and following schematics. That was awesome, mostly b/c I cannot solder for shit.
