  1. Let's just say there was a time in my life where I never would have imagined that I'd brew beer for a living! The 90s were a funny time.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Here's my tiger. It's pretty gnarly looking right now. I wouldn't share it any place but here, but I know y'all will understand. Totally in love with the thing! And now I have one big cat on each leg - total protection from evil eh? Man! I'm so swollen!! Can't even fit my leg in most of my pants!!

I feel that Virginia Elwood and Robert Ryan have recently (actually I think the Virginia one might go back to September or October) posted great Ganesh tattoos on their instagrams.

  10. My husband has no tattoos and is not an "alternative" sort of person in any way..no piercings, no tattoos, no wild hair, nothing. He wears polo shirts every day:) He's an ex cop so definitely has the straight laced look. I love tattoos and will probably be fully covered one day (well, no hands/face/neck, unless I win the lottery and don't have to work). It's caused no friction between us, luckily. I tell him my ideas, he gives me input on what he thinks will look best. He is an artistic person so that helps. He'll brainstorm good tattoo ideas for me! But he's very supportive, luckily. It would be hard for me to be with a person who wasn't. He talks about maybe getting one eventually, but who knows. The good thing, I tell him, is if he wants a tattoo, I won't let him go small/cheap. He has mentioned getting a tattoo of a train, and I have the perfect train half sleeve mapped out for him in my mind :) One thing I'll add, I think it helps we both have expensive hobbies. Me tattoos, and he does a lot of war gaming, and he paints that models that he uses, so the painting and tournaments he goes to can be expensive and eat up a lot of time. We both like guns, which is also expensive. But I think it helps, b/c he understands the importance of finding a good artist and spending what is needed to get great work. He never tries to get me to find a cheaper artist, b/c he gets it.

  11. Think about all of the people walking around with anchor tattoos, that aren't sailors, hell I have plenty of nautical tattoos and I don't even own a boat. I have a skull with wings, but far from a Hell's Angel or even a biker for that matter. Of all the girls I know the one who drinks and parties the most has "Straightedge" tattooed from shoulder to shoulder. Now something like that I would reconsider, but all the implied symbolism is kind of silly. I mean think about the tramp stamp, popular for awhile, then women shyed away because didn't want to be labeled as tramps, but the tattoo really had nothing to do with the level of promiscuity someone exhibits, nor does said promiscuity necessarily make you a tramp.

  13. Well all i can say is weather you agreed with Huck as a business man or not he was a huge part of the tattoo world and for that we all can agree. Some hated him because he was the biggest tattoo supplier name for years and years with advertisement in almost every magazine selling starter kits and what seems to have become the blue print to shops and stores that are now selling supplies with no inhibitions. Others knew him as the ex-business partner of the late Paul Rogers and also have an opinion of him from those stories, but many of us were in the Spaulding starter kit generation and the book A-Z was a large part of our beginning into the tattoo world. so it seems that no matter what side you were on in the world where Huck Spaulding was we have indeed lost a huge part of an older tattoo world and with that said, R.I.P. Huck.

    Our bad tattoos

My very first (24 years ago!). It was flash on the wall and the only thing I could afford. I sat down in that chair and thought I was the coolest thing ever. It was the closest tattoo I could find that looked like the Expolited logo and it matched my haircut at the time. As bad as it is, I can't bring myself to cover it up. So sentimental still....

  21. First off I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. I am Lee Hanna's sister. Reading stuff about him makes me smile. You can't imagine how much I miss him! I print things off that I find written about him online. I am making a scrapbook for his daughters that he left behind. They deserve to know what a kind, caring and loving person he was. He touched so many peoples lives it's unreal! Please keep telling stories about him if you have some you would like to share!! Thanks Again!!!

  23. I went to an exhibition on sailor tattoos today, where they display old pictures and flash from the Maritime Museum's collection. Thought I'd share a few pictures with you here. The quality is not great on all of them, but hope you'll like it :) (I wasn't sure where to post this, so moderators feel free to move it elsewhere if needed).

  32. I was in a relationship for just over a year with a girl who didn't have any tattoos and definitely disapproved of me getting more. She wasn't vocal about it most of the time but would get upset whenever I said I was going to get a new one which was only twice while we were dating and after the appointments wouldn't even ask how it went or whether I liked how the piece turned out. She barely even looked at the new pieces in fact. She did come to a convention with me once but after about an hour of walking round on the first day she just sat down somewhere and did some sudoku. Needless to say she didn't come back on the second day of the show. Once she even came out and said that I loved tattoos more than her. Turns out she was right in the end. I don't mind whether a girl has tattoos or not. In my opinion an attractive woman is attractive with or without them. I think what is important though is that either they have an interest themselves or at least can appreciate why I enjoy them so much and understand that I will keep getting more. Getting my thigh done in two weeks time in fact!!! Woo hoo!!!

    Our bad tattoos

I have stuff on both my upper arms from the 85 to 89 period that's pretty shitty, and had faded on its own to the point it could have easily been covered, but it was so sentimental I just ended up getting all of em touched up to look like new shitty. I'm really glad I did now. Losing that would have been like cutting my finger off to get rid of a wart.

    1st "Big" Tattoo

If your wife has a problem with you getting a tattoo it's probably a good idea to.... A) Not get tattooed B) Get her on board with it C) Get tattooed behind her back, and face the music you come home I doubt any tattooer would appreciate a client and his/her significant other fight over size, placement, design or anything else for that mather, in the shop.

No offense taken, I will ask around my to my friends who tattoo and travel. Thanks for the heads up. And to any moderators on here my bad i didnt mean to post something too close to being considered technical. Much respect.

  47. A few years ago, Bill Salmon told me that I should get all the tattoos I want as soon as possible. He said that the older you get, the more it hurts and the longer it takes to heal. Mr. Salmon knows a helluva lot more than I do about these things.
