    Our bad tattoos

We found LST and now get good tattoos but what before? We must of got some bad tattoos on the way.... Here we can post our bad tattoos and the story behind them I'll start with one of mine, done when I was 16 some 22 years ago, even when new people asked what it was, it's a bat moon and 3 stars by the way...!

    Upcoming Tattoos

My rickety old back held up. Got this from the very talented Jordan Teear at Frith Street yesterday. He got an amazing amount of work done in three hours. All done without a break. To say I'm thrilled with it is an understatement. Amund Dietzel dragon

  8. I went to an exhibition on sailor tattoos today, where they display old pictures and flash from the Maritime Museum's collection. Thought I'd share a few pictures with you here. The quality is not great on all of them, but hope you'll like it :) (I wasn't sure where to post this, so moderators feel free to move it elsewhere if needed).

    Knee Tattoooo

I only just found this thread.. awesome stuff. enjoying it. As I had all Japanese stuff on my lower legs I wanted to create a clean finish around the knee. Yushi Takei suggested to use an onigawara mask which I find spot on. Had my left knee done in a 4.5hr session which was ok but had to do some DYI the next weekend which was a bad idea as my knee was swollen and looked like an elephant knee.. but hey, was worth it. Right knee was done by Mo Coppoletta and healed all well.

    Ed Hardy ROA Book Question

It seems like a lot of the Hardy Marks books go for $$$ once they're out of print. @Pugilist paid over $100 for the Flash From The Past book (the original, not the revisited one) because she wanted a tattoo based on one of the EC Kidd dragons in there and just figured that buying the book is part of the cost of the tattoo. It's a reminder not to sleep on that stuff when it's available.

  17. So I'm less than 48 hrs. out, and I just talked to my tattoo artist and we swapped this to an upper chest/front shoulder piece. I didn't make the decision solely based on the pain factor (I think I'll be happier with it up there), but I'm breathing so much easier right now!

    Firefly fans?

I think that was the problem with Firefly, it wasn't a terrible pile of crap and therefore had no place on TV. They needed to make more room for high quality programming like Jersey Shore lol.

I think knees hurt..especially if you get matching pieces done at the same time-it's like the second on e knows what's coming.

  20. Don't know if any of youse ever look at Yelp.com, it's kinda a local review site, if yer looking for a place to eat, or like that. Anyhow, CTC was reviewd on it, and someone posted a review talking about how great the work is, and what a righteous shop it is, but how they won't be back 'cause the tattooer they used didn't "bond" with them... fuck me.

    Ink Masters

Couple of things that bother me about this show, and both have to do with Dave Navarro. Let me prefice this by saying I love JA and have huge respect for him as a guitar player, but for a judge he has some horrible work on his arms. I know he is there to provide color commentary (no pun intended), but his tattoos scream "don't do what I did". Second, Dave needs to swap the sunglasses for something else. Those things are horrible. - - - Updated - - - - - - Updated - - - - - - Updated - - - "The excuses are B-O-L-O-N-G-A" followed by Forrest Cavacco's "Bull****" will always be a classic for me.

  26. I always look at bookfinder.com for books because if there's a copy of a book for sale sonewhere on the Internet, chances are you can find it through there. Anyway, they have listings for a few copies of the Rock of Ages book and it seems like you got a pretty good deal on it, but not so good of one that I'd be suspicious that it is "too good to be true" or anything like that.

  32. I've always traveled about 4 and a half hours each direction to get work done, but in a month I'm flying 1600km to get some work. After that, my next big piece will have to be in Europe or Japan! That'll be quite a ways down the road, though.

  33. I'm doing the seven hour Montreal-NYC drive right now and I feel fortunate that my artist is within driving distance because it allows me to get large work. I don't think I would be as willing to do that if flights are involved because there's no such thing as cheap airfare in Canada. But with the right artist and idea, who knows? I didn't think I'd be going to New York as much as I am.

  35. This thread is excellent. I hope I can squeeze my next pimple into a full rib panel of Japanese tigers. What a time-saver it would be! I'll goop up my side with some vaseline and crappy Dove skin cream and tape on a printout of @hogg's Lehi tigers for reference.

  40. I have a lot of OPINIONS on the myriad of ways that tattoo culture can still be really shitty to women, but rather than going on a rant about that right now, I will say this: Because it can indeed be kind of isolating being an (increasingly) heavily tattooed woman, one of the best things I have gotten out of my participation on this board has been the space to interact with, and "get to know", other articulate, thoughtful and cool tattooed women. I adore a lot of folks around here, but being able to connect with other ladies is particularly valuable and enriching, since I think being tattooed is accompanied by some unique stuff for us. So I am really grateful for this space and for everything I've learned from other women in the tattoo world.

  41. Someone recommended that I post up my latest tattoo on this forum so here goes. I am almost done with my half sleeve from Horitomo. Although a phoenix is colorful, I'm a big fan of black/grey tattoos so that's what I went with. I was on his waiting list for 2 years before I stepped foot into State of Grace in San Jose, Ca. (I fly from Dallas and do back to back sessions). He is one of the few people I know in the U.S. that does tebori so after 28 hours this is what I have. I took this picture straight from his instagram.

After 14 sessions spanning 15 months, I'm thrilled to say that my back piece--courtesy of Jay Cavna--is finished. It's a rooster/boar/snake battle royale with peonies. We just wrapped it up a few hours ago. I couldn't be happier with it and am blown away by Jay's skill and commitment to his work. Here's the pic.

scrolling through the awesomness in my case healing was pretty quick, sleeping was best done on side and lotion is tricky but can be done solo if needed. IT helps to have long arms but using backsides of hands(to apply lotion) and also using other arm to assist in stretch make it possible. Luckily my wife and 3 yr old are up for the daily challenge of feeding my backpiece its lotion
