  3. Thanks, man...I saw that you popped it offa Tumblr but don't have an account so I couldn't comment on it. It's a trip that they want to get a chunk of work I have, they plotting about how to slice up my sleeve and get pieces of it. Best part is that #4 son turns 18 in two weeks, and he's already got his appointment set-up!

  6. Hi everyone. My names Jake. I'm 23 from a small town bout' an hour outside of London, UK. Ive been lurking the forum on and off for about a year now and thought it was about time i signed up. I'm not sure i'll have too much to add to the forum, your doing a great job already and I signed up mostly just to say thanks. This forum has taught me so much about what makes a good tattoo and has opened my eyes to some really great artists. Thanks to you guys i've finally got some tattoos that i'm really happy with and i hope to get many, many more When i get access to a half decent camera, i'll post some pictures of my tattoos but for now keep up the good work.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Thanks much. My kids are a trip, all of them. They can ride, shoot, wrench, fight...read, write, make a living, all that good stuff, AND they appreciate good tattooing! Tell ya what, I hate to say it out loud, but I'm proud as hell of all my kids, and love them more than I can say.

  8. i saw this and thought it was so cool, makes it even better that the original is on you and your kids rule enough to have Nick tattoo the same design on them because you've got it. you sir, have some wonderful children. i can only hope one day that my kids (whenever i decide to have one or whatever), grow up to be that rad and interested in my tattoos.. or tattoos in general.

Took the woman several hours slaving away, but she did well... Scallops, black pudding and cauliflower purée. Beef Wellington, greens and red wine / mushroom jus. There were more pictures but this vintage port is going down too easily and I'm losing control of my arms.

  20. @Graeme, @MadeIndelible, I have been lucky enough to have gotten all of my work done at CTC, mostly cause it was the only game in town when I was a shorty. Fortunately, my sons have pretty much shined-on the local scratch-n-gouge parlors and made a point of going there as well. Nick has gone out of his way to accomodate our schedules-it's a 90 mile drive-and to make sure everything about the experience is good. We typically get tattoos as a family thing, the next biggie will be my youngest son's 18th this coming month...he has his appointment booked and a design drawn-up!

My kids always dug it, and hey-see if you can figure out which is which. Untitled, So if your dad gets this rad tattoo in the late... Done by Nick Colella @ CTC this afternoon on a coupla my boys.

  22. Agreed! My tattoos are more precious to me than almost any materialistic item in my life. The "can't be stolen, broken or lost" aspect makes a strong selling point. I lose and break shit all the time.

  23. I've experienced this before. It's usually a very fleeting feeling, but I think it has to do with getting used to the change. I know I'd be a lot sadder if I woke up and a tattoo was missing.

  28. 100% The best response. It is about the experience. You learn, you meet people, and you make memories that will last forever. You can get a great tattoo, words of wisdom, or just a good time. Few people understand what tattooers go through daily so it is nice to sit with someone that does and share it. You can get tattooed by someone twice your age or half your age but there is a common ground and bond. It is mind boggling to me that a tattooer wouldn't want to have these experiences. If you are in it, then be a part of it.

  29. I got my ROA backpiece finished today and noticed I've felt kinda blue, blah, meh, ever since I got home. It's not that I regret the tattoo, or there's anything wrong with it. To the contrary it's awesome. It turned out as good as I ever hoped it would. But finishing the backpiece is kinda like climbing Mt. Everest for me. Like a "how do I top this?" feeling. I'm sure it'll go away by morning. I already have plans for getting an eagle on my chest for my birthday.

    Post-tattoo blues anyone?

Most of his work is pretty good. He spent ten years inside, and went in as a member of a "social club" that had high standing. That gave him access to the best tattooers in there, and he got some wild stuff. Hopefully, I will be able to find some of it that I can post...lots of the pics I have, I wouldn't post here because of the representing.

  37. I've never had the blues or regretted what I did, but when my sleeve was outlined it took several weeks to get used to it. I kept thinking, "What the fuck have I done??" But not in a bad way, I just couldn't believe that I did it. I've only been working on my tattoos for a year so I suppose I'll get used to them eventually, but I rarely look in the mirror and don't notice them. I tried to explain this feeling to a few non-tattood people, but they just kept thinking that I regretted getting them. No way, I'm planning my next sleeve and chest panel!

  38. I got a spider tattooed on my thumb earlier this year and for maybe two hours I was thinking "Man, maybe I shouldn't have done that" (BTW that shit is in there. It ain't washing off). But that went away real quick because I really wanted a spider on my thumb, besides no one hardly ever notices my hands anyway. Far worse than regrets, I've had this nightmare two or three times where suddenly all my tattoos are gone, i'm a total pinky all over again.... It's caused me to wake up in a panic thinking "Oh God, now I have to go through getting them all over again".

  42. Now, this isn't strictly speaking a serious entry, I just wanted to note how far this contest has come in the last year. Some truly outstanding work being displayed here! Congrats to all for the effort of both tattooer and tattooee in getting them! Thanks to all for sharing your pix, and thanks to Lochlan and the team here for making this site a must-see every day. Panther head by Dale Grande, probably 1974.

ANYTHING but Jenny!!!! Has a VERY bad connotation inside. Maintain, Jen...remember, their gig is to break you down and try to make you feel as bad about yourself as they feel about themselves. If you don't let them, you win. As for all the cop-lovers, yeah, there are a few decent ones I've met over the years...a few. And I've met frkn thousands of em. And it takes a special kinda scum to put on a green suit and work as a hack. That hurt your feelings? Well, you know there's an old saying in the shop..."did that hurt your feelings? Well...FUCK YOUR FEELINGS!" Just saying. - - - Updated - - - In many places here, yes, it happens everyday. All depends on what profile you fit. In a small town, out-of-state license plates, nice ride, tattoos, etc., etc., that'll get you rousted in a heartbeat.

FTF / FTP Our Nation is being run by a Mandarin-class of Oligarchs for their own personal enrichment, and they are supported by a private army of Alphabet-Soup terrorists and local bullies. Nothing new there, but I'm sorry you had to deal with it, and I hope your shonskie is able to get things worked out for you. Many moons ago, a friend was riding through Tejas and got rousted. Cops found a roach in his saddlebag, and he got dropped for twenty. Ended up serving almost fifteen years of that...for a roach. Aren't you glad the seventies are over?!

  45. @ChrisvK Nobody believes you when you say you don't want to be a tattooer. But like everyone else says, practice. Practice, then practice some more. Here's a golden nugget: Doodling requires you to repeat shapes with your hands. Drawing requires you to use your mind more than your hands. Good luck.

    Dumb Hipster Tattoos

Sometimes I really can't tell the difference anymore. Tattooing is SO over saturated that it feels like i work at hot topic most of the times. I mean when everybody has a fucking tattoo what's the difference anyway? I've seen tons of kids with tough traditional tattoos wearing hipster v necks and thick rimmed glasses. But what about tattooers? Dickies and flannel? I mean fuck! It's all been done and over done. None of us are original, we might have got there sooner but does it matter anymore? How about we all dress like it's the 30's? Oh wait that's done... How about ties and button downs... Fuck another cliche. Today tattooing not just about the tattoo it's about the total image of the client wearing it... And I think that's bullshit. When "alternative" is the mainstream, what's alternative? I don't have a clue... Side note: some of the above tattoos are really stupid!!!

A friend of mine once said, "If a chick is hot, her tattoos don't have to be good." I used to agree him, but I don't so much these days. Hot chick + great tattoos = infinitely hotter.
