  2. Excuse the picture, I think I was standing crooked and my modesty-preserving stick-on bra cups were all askew :P Anyway, tattoo is by Rachi at Black Throne. So far that's about 2 and a half hours, with around 1 hour to go. The bottle is going to be gold, and some little highlights will be added on the wings. It's a Resurrection Phial from the game Fable (one of my all time favourites). I used numbing cream, but it wore off pretty fast :/

  3. A little update, I got a cool flower coming out of a "skin split" by Dave Cummings to fill in the last big spot on my right arm. It 's super nice and old school. He tapped into his apprentice roots to bust this one out!

    Upcoming Tattoos

After a brief postponement, today is d-day. Or... sternum-day. Pre-tattoo nerves are at an all-time high. Only half expecting to make it out alive.

    Dumb Hipster Tattoos

I like this one Zac Scheinbaum did: If you got a battle royale there instead you would never have a boring day again because there would be a fucking eagle fighting a snake fighting a dragon on your arm. Williamsburg.

  13. My general rule is never go out and buy anything special for healing tattoos, I have aquaphor around for my son's diaper rash, so in the event I feel a healing tattoo might need something that is what I use. The other day I got a sample of some tattoo goo in the mail, it smelled and looked just like tiger balm, I can't imagine whatever this product is, that it's that much different or more effective than anything you buy at a drug store. In fact I would imagine mulit billion dollar health and beauty aid companies spend a lot of money making sure the skin healing products they put on the shelf are the best and most effective on the market. Do you really think some tattoo goo company is doing the same or has the same bankroll as say Johnson& Johnson ? I would imagine most reactions to these products are from overuse. If you think you have a magic potion in the bottle then using twice as much will heal the tattoo in half the time right? But then you are left with big scabs from not washing the ointment off before it dries and scabs and clogged pours.

  19. I often think about what it would be like if it was 1970 and I heard the first Sabbath album for the first time. I think I would have probably shit my pants because it is still so heavy even by today's standards. Have you seen the videos from the Paris 1970 Sabbath show? Unbelievable stuff.

When I saw today that the Bloodwork books are on sale right now it almost bummed me out that my money right now is earmarked for actual tattoos. The books plus shipping costs to Canada = serious tattoo time. Really happy that the Tattootime reissues are in my budget though.

  24. Very nice! I'm due for a second consult with him soon, he's going to put a big tiger on me. Super nice dude and a hell of a tattooer. Also for anybody interested, Dave Knight just opened (or is about to open) a shop in Sidney, BC. Arno who used to tattoo at Imago is now working at PSC and he does great tattoos as well.

  26. Longest I've gone was 6 hrs on a chest session. There was a lot of energy in the shop that day with 2 other cats getting some work on backpieces. Everyone made the shop day-rate (5hrs and everything above that is gravy) and we were all feeling like a boss. But I felt like I got hit by a bus for the week following. The longest I will sit now is 3hrs maximum. My tolerance for this shit has certainly deteriorated!

  32. I really never considered this a traditional tattoo site, but more a quality tattoos site. Traditional is the sense maybe that we talk about people who have established themselves in the tattoo world, more than recent trends in tattoo design. Although some would say getting traditional tattoos is kind of in style right now, others would say they never go out of style. But ultimately I think people who do quality work in any style get a fair amount of respect here. But I guess this site can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people and regardless of how we see it, we all seem to be a fan of some of the stuff discussed here.

    what's it mean?

Stock replies for silly questions: "yeah how much did that cost?" ...side note, this is a pretty rude question from a stranger and i usually -pretty rude question buddy -sorry buddy they are not for sale -A LOT -you don't want to know -$50...for everything ;) -140 hrs @ $150/hr...you do the math..."that's really expensive/waste of money"...eh thanks Dad! buddy, that's over 10 years. how much have you spent on blow and fast cars over the last decade? really it's a piss in the bucket. -respond with "hey how much did your <house/car/diamond ring> cost? yeah pretty rude question isn't it?" "what is the meaning/symbolism" ...side note, there is nothing more boring than crappy tattoo with overt contrived meaning. -it means something different everyday. -meaning? it's a fucking <tiger puking blood>. do i need to explain further? -sorry lady, i don't really feel the need to explain the personal meaning of all my tattoos to a stranger in the grocery store line -it's just a fucking tattoo. "did it hurt?" -no, i didn't feel a thing -yes, it is the most horrible pain you will ever imagine -yeah it hurt, so gnarly, i barfed in my mouth (true story) i especially like this one in the tattoo shop..."i bet that hurts eh"...yeah a bit eh, but not as bad as that upsidedown script on your wrist is going hurt! yikes i don't envy you. "yeah man my tattoo took like 8 hrs" -dude, you got ripped off. how do i deal with the stock retarded questions? i don't ;) i wear long sleeves all the time and keep my gentleman art below the collar and above the wrist line. that way i don't advertise the unwanted attention and i don't get called out for being a total tattoo snob haha - - - Updated - - - oh and my personal fave (i've had this same conversation multiple times): "sick tatts brah. you do time in the pen?" "haha you think you can get colour like this in prison" "no doubt brah. RESPEK"
