A consultation with Jordan at Frith Street this Saturday. I'm looking to get a couple of dragons to fill a bit of space on my back. @Jade1959 has got a consultation with Valerie Vargas as well. No new work during November & December for me. I'm getting the shakes.7 points

I really never considered this a traditional tattoo site, but more a quality tattoos site. Traditional is the sense maybe that we talk about people who have established themselves in the tattoo world, more than recent trends in tattoo design. Although some would say getting traditional tattoos is kind of in style right now, others would say they never go out of style. But ultimately I think people who do quality work in any style get a fair amount of respect here. But I guess this site can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people and regardless of how we see it, we all seem to be a fan of some of the stuff discussed here.5 points -

Long time lurker. First time posting and introducing myself. My name is Tron. I just recently moved away from NYC where I worked with my friends/tattoo family at Thicker Than Water in the East Village. I just moved to Portland, OR and am currently looking for a new shop to call home out here as well as some new people to befriend and paint/hang with. I've been tattooing for a little over 2 years now and always trying to push on and move forward and learn as much as I can. I don't do much but paint all the time. I'm into punk, bicycles, motorcycles, weird shit, funny shit, hopeless romantic shit, science, nature, the occult, coffee, and Morrissey. I'm technologically retarded and have no clue how to post pics of my stuff so... My website is here: LOSINGSHAPE In the words of Boy George: I'll Tumblr for you - Losing Shape Follow me on Instagram and Twitter: @LosingShape2 points -

Hi, noob from UK
Brock Varty and one other reacted to Scoops for a topic
Hi my name is Tony, and I'm a relatively latecomer to the world of tattoos, not getting my first until earlier this year aged 43. Have always liked tattoo's and am fascinated by the skills of a really good artist. To draw on paper is one thing, to get incredible artwork into living skin still blows me away. I have a Polynesian style piece on my right calf, which was just extended slightly yesterday. Overall only about 5 1/2 hours of tattooing so far. The first pic is my initial tattoo, about a 3 1/2 hour sitting. The second shows the extension done yesterday, just under two hours. Artist: Katie a Go Go at Tattoo a Go Go in London Love the site.2 points -

Futurama Head in a Jar Creator
Brock Varty and one other reacted to David Flores for a topic
So I was poking around on Instagram and saw that Henry Lewis was posting a bunch of funny pics of people as Futurama characters, low and behold I found the app for Iphone and started making some of my own. I did my close friends, family, guys at the shop, then the thought occurred me to make some of my favorite tattooers into Futurama characters. So I will start with the attached guys from Chicago Tattoo Company. I know that some of them aren't the best, but it is an app so there are only so many choices, but thought it would be fun to see how many of these we could do. I would advise that any one of these I make is for pure fun, and I would never create something that I wouldn't be willing to show the person in question in person. Let the games begin.2 points -

Although I don't have any relevant tattoo-shop experience I have experienced a similar situation in the world of physical therapy/rehab. I'm a speech therapist, there's A LOT of money in rehab now and it's been this way for about a decade or so. Once upon a time pretty much all the rehab companies were owned/run by actual therapists. But when business-people saw how much money could be made running a rehab company a lot of new companies were started up with nobody with any real rehab experience at the helm. Those companies SUCK to work for. They don't understand what we really do in our day to day practice and there's a constant push to work in ways that push the boundaries of our ethics. The pursuit of the almighty $$ becomes more important than providing the best quality of care for our patients. Right now, with the changes happening in Medicare/Medicaid, it looks like in the future there may be less money to be made in rehab. And although it's likely to affect my own pocketbook to some degree, I will be glad if it forces changes in the way rehab businesses are run.1 point

Advice for communicating with tattooers?
slayer9019 reacted to Shannon Shirley for a topic
a good artist/tattooer can make anything fancy ,or pretty. make sure you like the style of your artist ,this is almost always overlooked in street shops,by the customer. How about some shrimp squidpants, hehe. actually research is the key. Everyone gets the tattoo they deserve. If you look at the "water" issue of Tattootime,@85ish, there is a photo of a woman with shrimp and blossom sleeves. Ive always thought of that image as a good example of how what one could think of as a strange idea ,but it is beautiful. research.1 point -
