  2. Update: It totally worked! I was a little worried that I would get a leg tattoo and still hate my legs... But I've spent pretty much every waking moment since I got my raven-girl staring at my leg (and pictures of my leg) with absolute adoration. I <3 my leg!! Yay!! Also - I figured out the probable reason *why* I've been persistently dreaming about leg tattoos. My motor nerves are dying but my sensory nerves are fine. However, because of the motor damage my sensory nerves are freaking out pretty much all the time and I have a constant pins and needles/sunburn feeling from my ankles to my knees. It's much worse at night (like a toothache I imagine, worse when there's nothing else to think about). Anyway, as soon as he started I realized that the sensation was just a notch stronger than what I've been feeling all the time anyway. And - I learned to trust my tattooer. I had gone in initially telling him "I don't really care, do whatever you want". And then we had talked about a few things and kind of nailed down an idea or two. When I came in to get the tattoo the drawing he showed me wasn't what we had talked about at all and my initial thought was to cancel altogether. But then I thought on it for a minute and recalled that I had told him that he pretty much had free reign to do what he wanted so I went with it even though it wasn't what I had expected it to be. And it is AWESOME! Better than I ever imagined and I couldn't be more pleased with the thing. And now I want more ;)

Long time lurker. First time posting and introducing myself. My name is Tron. I just recently moved away from NYC where I worked with my friends/tattoo family at Thicker Than Water in the East Village. I just moved to Portland, OR and am currently looking for a new shop to call home out here as well as some new people to befriend and paint/hang with. I've been tattooing for a little over 2 years now and always trying to push on and move forward and learn as much as I can. I don't do much but paint all the time. I'm into punk, bicycles, motorcycles, weird shit, funny shit, hopeless romantic shit, science, nature, the occult, coffee, and Morrissey. I'm technologically retarded and have no clue how to post pics of my stuff so... Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Phase one of "project squidpants" is complete! :-) "Raven Steals the Sun" - done in ~4 hours tonight by Levi Hatch at Think Ink Tattoos in Norman Oklahoma. Completely and totally in love with it - it wasn't exactly what we had talked about and it took me a minute to come around to his vision after he showed me the drawing. Now, the more I look at it the more I love it.

  9. Wassap guys, im new here to this site. Finally a quality tattoo forum. Ive been getting tattooed for around 4 years, my first was a cross by Dan Santoro. Ive been getting tattooed by various artists in the NY area, most of my tattoos have been from Kyle Sajban out of Red Rocket Tattoo and my left arm sleeve is currently in progress by Rodrigo Melo of North Star Tattoo. Awesome tattoos in this thread. I have 2 sleeves as of now, I dont have any good pics of my right arm sleeve unfortunately, just old pictures. Heres some pics of my chest and my left bicep, which I had a session on yesterday. Two koi fishes on my left arm with some peonies and cherry blossoms.

    Hey from Virginia

Hey everybody, new to the site. Got my first tattoo 7 years ago right when I turned 18. Thing is a pos that I wish I would have actually put thought into, but at least its fairly small and is hidden. Since then I've gotten 5 more. The two that I like the best are my Nightmare Before Christmas tattoo on my side and my Alice in Wonderland on my arm. Both by the same artist in VA. So... yea, just stopping in to introduce myself and say whats up.

I usually take a good 14 days for a full peel, but then I usually have a very light secondary peel a few weeks later. I've read that it takes roughly 45 days for a tattoo to fully heal. - - - Updated - - - also, I had a few spots in my most recent tattoo that took much longer to heal than others. In the end, all turned out just fine. i think your tattoo looks great. That black lettering healed perfectly. I think you just need a little patience with the red, but i'm sure it'll turn out fine for you.

  14. The last Converge album I heard until the new one was When Forever Comes Crashing. Then His Hero Is Gone broke up and I decided that hardcore punk had nothing left to offer. I stand by that but the new Converge is good.

  15. It's 50/50. Half the time you are not doing shit/studying/watching movies, but the other half you are stuck dealing with the bottom of the barrel scum of humanity or nice people who are put in terrible situations. I would recommend the job to anyone who thinks they can take being a medic, but if you have any doubts... don't even bother.

  16. I try and buy local, but that shit gets expensive and I really love Safeway. I try and support mostly local restaurants/bars, not too big into the whole street wear clothing thing. I like thrift stores. Thats just economically though. After working on an ambulance for the last 5 years in cokeland, my moral standing is pretty high compared to the shit heads that I deal with every day. Then again, some of my partners make me look like a fuckin asshole. It's all relative in the end. I'm typing this while drinking a beer(s) so don't hate my grammer.

  20. Thank! And to the other poster too. I wish I had better pictures of all my tattoos, my Japanese is looking good. If I could though I would do things differently, I woudve gotten the lady facing the other way. I told the artist to do it that way, and while it still looks good I wish it were facing forward. Same thing for the compass, though it doesnt bother me nearly as much as the gypsy. Heres a pic of the chest panel for my Japanese. This was about 2 months ago, all the background from the elbow up is done now.

Thank you! I know I am panicking, and worrying, but I will believe you guys and assume that it will get better. I do love that tattoo... I dont know how he made the the black lettering so bold and thick, but its perfect. Not insipid, frilly overly girly. its feminine while being bold.

Different places on the body heal differently. I only have a couple of small tattoos on my legs and they healed fine (some of my easier ones to heal), if you look at the lower leg tattoo thread here, plenty of people have had long and difficult healing processes for their legs. Just wait it out, leave it alone, and if it needs touching up when it's all healed, talk to your artist and it shouldn't be a problem.

Heading to prison again. J/K. I am in no rush. I just have some time and have an opportunity with a very talanted professional artist/friend. I also recently left the USMC for a number of years and feel free again but, was in a recent near fatal accident and should not be here typing this. I guess I want to live and dont want to miss it. The schedule is only for 3 months - 6-7 sessions for now to finish work that never was complete.

  43. My $0.02 I would avoid mixing money/business with family. It gets nasty quick. I have personal experience with this and know the issues that arise. My family owned a very successful business. As the business grew issues arose very quickly. Who own's the company? Who gets a bigger cut? Is <xyz> person getting a more favorable treatment than me? The list goes on. It's hard to be in business with the family. It screwed up my family really quick towards the end and we still don't talk to a few family members since there was legal shit being thrown at each other even after we dissolved the company. The wives even got involved. To this day my father still tells me "Never ever ever mix business with friends and family, unless you can happily walk away from them in a heartbeat" "Business is like war, and you don't want to being turning brother on brother." While I do know business that have run successfully in a family, I also know the behind closed doors issues that come up. There will always be someone who gets favorited. (In your case probably you favoriting your sons opinion over the other guy). Since you will just be financial backer you will be in a tough spot. Let's say the business tanks, you might end up getting mad at your son for "not trying hard enough, etc". When your son and this guy are putting in all the man-hours what happens if they decide to open their own shop and leave? At that point your business is just a building your renting since you cannot tattoo. I personally say it would be a bad idea, just because I've seen the massive shit-storm that can come from family/money. It's like water and oil. You don't think that emotions will rise now or you just want to make your money back but believe me ideas change over time.

  45. I have a HUGE list of people I'd like to be tattooed by! Honestly, I'm more interested in getting good tattoos that I like to look at than any particular imagery. The things I love in real life are more art nouveau and illustration... but from looking at a lot of tattoos I'm finding that I don't particularly care for "realism". I do like clean sharp lines and strong colors. I'm a traveling speech therapist - which means that I go for ~3 months at a time *somewhere* to work. I've been working a lot in Texas lately. I'm taking about a month off after next week, and I'm not really sure where I'll be after that, but if I'm back in Texas I plan on making a trip to Austin. - - - Updated - - - :) LOL! @Graeme I've considered the squid pants! Really I have! Realistically though, I think that because of my work status it would be hard... I don't know where I'm going to be more than 3 or 4 months ahead ever. I'm probably going to go for more of a mish-mash. A high quality mish-mash I hope.

ANYTHING but Jenny!!!! Has a VERY bad connotation inside. Maintain, Jen...remember, their gig is to break you down and try to make you feel as bad about yourself as they feel about themselves. If you don't let them, you win. As for all the cop-lovers, yeah, there are a few decent ones I've met over the years...a few. And I've met frkn thousands of em. And it takes a special kinda scum to put on a green suit and work as a hack. That hurt your feelings? Well, you know there's an old saying in the shop..."did that hurt your feelings? Well...FUCK YOUR FEELINGS!" Just saying. - - - Updated - - - In many places here, yes, it happens everyday. All depends on what profile you fit. In a small town, out-of-state license plates, nice ride, tattoos, etc., etc., that'll get you rousted in a heartbeat.

  48. As an old fart, I gots to agree. I had my left ear pierced when I was 12 years old, and have worn a stud in it since then, got my left nipple pierced when I was 18, it's still open, but I don't wear anything in it. My oldest gauged his ears out when he turned 18, but figured it out an leaves em empty. I've offered to take a tin-snip to 'em, but for some reason, he won't let me...they're closing up anyhow. I know, I know. Back in the day, when I got my ear pierced, the oldtimers (like me) were telling each other how faggy and shitty it looked. Every generation has it's own thing, maybe the next big fad will be plates in the lips. I do believe the Mursi are the present masters of this, but it's been around quite a few African-and even one Easter-Euro culture for quite some time. All that said, hey, if it's your thing, go for it! I've done too much wrong in my life to be judgemental of anyone else, whether it's how they look, who they sleep with, or what they do to their body.
