I'm done caring about this show. No need for it. Sticking to quality programming like Gypsy Gentleman and Tattoo Age.

  10. @YOMONEY What you're asking isn't as uncommon as you'd expect. That is if you want a black arm and a Japanese arm. It's a common misconception that heavy black is the solution for covering unwanted tattoos. I'm ny opinion, Japanese style tattoos can be way more effective in covering-up tattoos. If the tattoos you have a raised, or scarred, even slightly, that will certainly show through the black. Also in my experience, if the unwanted tattoos have colours that were mixed with white pigment (bright green, some yellows, light blue, some oranges etc) then that white-based pigment can be very difficult to cover with solid black. Colour Japanese will cover it much better if you go to the right tattooer. While I'm spouting my opinions, here's another: It's easier to find a decent japanese style tattooer than one who can fill solid fields of smooth black these days. Regarding the awesome black/japanese combo by Ian Flower, above: Nobody said it was japanese before it was covered. It's testament to Ian's design and tattoo skill that it looks that way. The peony on the guy's chest was also tattooed by Ian. Laser is not a magic wand for removing tattoos. But the line we always use at Frith Street regarding black for coverups: "Once you go black, you don't go back" There are also other ways to use heavy black in cover up tattoos but there's a difference between being helpful and giving away all my secrets. @YOMONEY there's a thread somewhere here about coverup tattoos.

The purpose of tv production, especially in "reality" shows, is to make you either love it or hate it. Its intentional. If they can stir conversation about their shows, then they always benefit. Its in a humans nature to be curious. So even when people mention how horrible the show may is, that will make more people tune in just to see the horror. Its always easier to push something down a hill than up it, so its purpose driven to make the judges seem careless and reckless as well as all the other controversial stuff like law suits and rivalry, etc. I've not had cable for a long time and have cut tv viewing way down and recently my converter box crapped out, so that meant zero tv viewing. It really altered my reality in a positive way. And I was only watching a couple hours a day. I'd never tell anyone else what to do, but I'm goin to try make any attempts promote elements of positivity in an effort to make it the thing that is pushed down the hill and not up it.

  22. Unfortunately, I am guilty of doing this. A client brought me a really nice line drawing of a cardinal. I was amazed that it was good enough to use without redrawing, and the client was very clear that they wanted it exactly like it was. (Which I was very busy that day, and bluntly, I didn't feel like fucking with it. lol. Long story short, it turned out to to be Mr. Ross Nagle's cardinal tattoo. Which was uploaded to LST before I realized what I had done. Talk about feeling like a tool! I would like to add that Mr. Nagle is my favorite traditional tattooers and absolutely meant NO disrespect.

  27. I usually get the "How much do you charge for a sleeve?" My responses vary from "depends on if you want it super sized or not" to "a few thousand". If anything hearing the same thing over and over again gives you the chance to use different Jedi magic and see if you can convince people to just get a nice tattoo. The thing most people walking off the street don't understand is how much a commitment a sleeve is both to the customers and tattooer. Spending twelve hours drawing something and then having them flake on it is not fun, and the deposit hardly covers the time lost. I can't recall a time when someone came in looking to get a sleeve and actually got one, but plenty of people that just came in to get a tattoo ended up with a sleeve eventually.

  28. Got this outlined Sunday. It's off a Dan Higgs original painting that hangs in the shop. Healing this has been such a pain in the ass for me. It's only been a couple of days and I've probably lost 4+ hours a sleep a night. Does anybody else get that weird goosebump/chills/itch combination thing, or is that just me? It's very strange. 39. Great work this month! On a side note, this has been on my mind since joining, by the way. I might be completely out of line here, but I gotten the impression that some people, and I am not gonna name names, nor can I think of a specific example, vote solely for the Name of the artist rather than the art itself. I will just add that some one might post a tattoo of some "no name" artist that is better than one of our favorites. Sadly, I think the votes would go to the tattooer that LSTers are familiar with. Again, just a thought from the "Community Prick" aka me! lol

well said. this is one of my biggest problems with this (and other) shows; if someone fucks up a dress for a fashion reality show, big deal. if someone fucks up a batch of cupcakes for a bake-off show, oh well not anything to lose sleep over. there is no excuse for this behavior with tattooing.

That's just the high-points... When I caught the .25, my cuz and I were booking from a rather large group discussion being held under the Dan Ryan by several of the local youth groups. The rollers came up, and everone took off. We got back to the block, and we were arguing about which of us got hit, cause there was blood all over both of our lower legs. Got inside, turned out it was me-hadn't even felt it. Slug was barely under the skin, so my cuz popped it out with a pocket knife, lil iodone and I was all good to go. The .30 cal, well, I ended up in a horsepistol in Mex City for that one, but that's a whole other story!

    Cover up ?

I don't know when laser removal got such a negative stigma. There must be some horror stories out there, but all my experiences have been great. Consult removal places that have a positive relationship with our industry. They will most likely be more apt to understand what you are looking to do, as opposed to returning the skin to an unblemished clean state. Going to staunch dermatologists will get you crazy price quotes. I went to a state funded gang tattoo removal program, paid a nominal fee, and couldn't be happier. People are adamant about getting laser removal done. When I suggest it I watch their eyes glaze over and they instantly rule the option out. Their loss
