  1. Had my appointments with Frank and Sarah Carter today, so i'll crack on with the pictures :) First up a calf piece from Sarah: Then after a bite to eat and a much needed sugar intake, this palm sized space filler from Frank on the inside of my right wrist: I should say i borrowed both images from their respective instagram pages. Not sure if either of them will read this but i have to say they were both great today, in terms of the tattoos done and just making sure i had as good a time as is possible while being jabbed with needles! The art will always speak for itself but not everyone has the capability to make the whole tattoo experience (for want of a better word) a memorable one. And on that note i'm heading to bed, it's been quite a day :D

  3. Got tattooed by Jesse Gordon yesterday and my bud got tattooed by Lars. Both super sick! Going back again today to get some filler and my other ankle filled in. Inksmith is awesome and all the dudes there. Met Mike Wilson and got my appt for my chest set up dec. 1st. Makes me a little less anxious knowing he's do nice and humble. Side note: as the shop was closing a dude with back piece by Ed hardy from 1989 and a bunch of work from cliff raven, jack Rudy, bob shaw. Needless to say, super rad

  4. Yup... Richard and I were in NYC last for this and the Smith Street Guest Spot... It was interesting, but painful... Next week, is the Traditional Round. Richard is the Guest Judge... And, he ripped into everyone, and even snapped at Navarro, but in the end. They signed up to be judged, and so they were.

  12. @Our Endless Days - Thanks for pointing out that the interviews page wasn't very obvious to find.. I've added a tab at the top to solve that problem. god forbid everyone hasn't seen that page yet.. @Barrett Dobra - The page loads slowly because it is pulling all of the videos from youtube - I need to update so that the main page just shows thumbnails to load faster. thanks for adding to my list. j/k

    Re-wrapping tattoos

i've tried a bunch of different methods but re-wrapping only happens on my legs so i don't have to care about fibres from the cloth getting stuck in the tattoo...thats what i would call a bacterial death trap! but i think different methods for different people. no ones immune system is the same so no tattoo will heal the same. i guess you have to find what suits you the best. for me(except legs as mentioned), wrap....come home, change it for the night...off in the morning..wash, bepanthen...the usual. works everytime. i also drink alot of orange juice or similar since vitamin c helps your body heal faster. read somewhere that smoking weed will help the process with it's anti inflammatory effects but haven't tried that. a friend claims it to be amazing...but he thinks everything is amazing after smoking a fatty so...

  17. @mikePanic Thanks, helpful info regarding removal sessions. It did start as a few simple tattoos that I tought I’d tie together. Originally, I planned to have blue shading done in between the spaces and around everything, similar to what’s up on the top of my arm. Kinda of a space theme. I just think my arms is too hot (colorful) and I'm not the person I was when I got the spirals done. I’m on good terms with the artist, I’m just not really thinking I want to finish it the way I planned. I’ve been thinking of changing it to this. Keeping the space theme but going more realistic. Down my arm would go another cat and some abstract space. I think I'd only need to do a few laser sessions to remove some colors and a cleaner working area. @jayessebee it's funny you mention a panther because I would like to add some big cats onto the arm.

    Chris Conn is back!

@Dhopper I got tattooed by Chris back in June. When he announced his comeback he also mentioned that his hourly rate would be $500. Do you think Chris would appreciate that I openly named the price of my tattoo and how long it took to finish on a public internet forum? This is what I wrote in another thread after my visit with Conn: “I won't elaborate much on my stay there, but it was probably the most memorable tattoo experience I've had. I left LA with much more than just a new tattoo, and I'll remember that visit the rest of my life. If someone still is on the fence because of his price, don't be. You'll get your moneys worth, and a whole lot more. That's my opinion anyways.”

  25. Just got this today from Johnny Bones at Full Circle Tattoo in San Diego, CA. Edit: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how goddamn classy Full Circle is. They accommodated a rigid schedule for me (I jumped on an airplane an hour after this) and Johnny knocked out a nice little memento under pressure. The shop itself is gorgeous and their crew were nice as can be. Johnny Bones has been guesting there for a few weeks. He works at Mi Familia in Anaheim. He's pretty killer.

  27. It's our job as tattooist to be knowledgable about what will hold up over a longer period of time. When someone comes into the shop to get tattooed it's not for today or tomorrow or next year. IT'S FOR THIER LIFE... If I saw a tattoo 5 yrs down the road that looked like shit because I put way to much detail in and it didn't hold up. I would be disapointed with myself and change the way I look at what I've been doing. Both articals make very good points, and Dan feels like that for a reason. It's cuz hes seen his tats 8 yrs down the road and hes not happy with the outcome. We need to learn from others experiences to elevate the industry as a whole

  28. I got this from Deno at this summers Inkbash in Stockholm. He came up with putting the gorilla in a tower and the roots there. Midway through I asked him if he wasn't going to put something coming out of the skull. "Like what?" .. I don't know, something.. And he just put that dot trail in there, no pencil or anything. I think the whole piece came out just nice and strong, might be one of my favorite tattoos so far. He was super quick and fun to chat with. Tried to ask him about how graffiti has helped him develop as a tattooer but he didn't have much to say about it, except being taught to work fast. Jelle SOOS came by to say hi too, so I got to exchange a few words with him also. Man travels, a lot! Tomorrow I'm going to be under the needle of Joel Madberg SOOS. Putting a bird with alligator head on and around my knee, same leg as the tattoo above. A little scared of the knee actually, will I shake like crazy? (edit: oh by the way, the picture above is from today so the tattoo is close to 6 weeks healed or so)

  36. It sounds like most of us have a common denominator....saran wrapping post tattooing, with the 1st variable being how long, and the second being what products to use once you take the 1st wrap off. I dont write this just from reading through the thread, but from many years in the business. So, with the respect I've built for my fellow artists over these years (20+), I now tell my clients this...,"While other artists might give you other aftercare advice, I would appreciate that you, the client, listen to my advice for healing my tattoo. My methods may work best for the way I apply a tattoo, as other artists instructions may work best for healing they work they do." And I may be opening myself up to a world of %$#@*, here are the care instructions I hand each and every client. These have been streamlined after so many years and trying so many aftercare methods....

Came home last night after burgers and beers, poured a glass of whiskey and turned on the TV. Flipped around and saw the show, caught it about 5 minutes after it started, watched the thing and laughed my ass off. Pretty funny stuff and yeah, it's a TV show, so it's gonna be.. just like a TV show. The best part was the names. HEATHER SIN, B-TATS, AL FLICTION.. Al Fliction is barely clever.. by like the narrowest of margins.. AL FLICTION!!

  46. That bear tattoo just makes me think, "Ms Rad by name, Ms Rad by nature", haha. Here's a new one from me! This was done just yesterday, so my arm is pretty swollen. It's by Thomas Morgan, who is just finishing a guest spot in Inkslingers in Newcastle. I think he told me he'll be in Paris next, so if you live near there, I'd recommend getting some work from him! Oh yeah, and I kind of thought this was obvious (I'm sure it will be to you guys), but since a couple of friends have asked me- the gypsy head isn't from yesterday- Ian Parkin did that, and it looks FAR better when my arm isn't at a funny angle :P Anyway, here you go, sorry for the bad picture. I never did put that picture of my tattoo from Charlie on here, did I? If anyone wants to see it, I'll gladly put that up too :)
