I just wanted to mention this new project we are working on. It is an exhibit catalog for an art show with the theme “Born Weird” at Portland’s own Upper Playground gallery FIFTY24PDX. Craig Brown of Historic Tattoo and Scott Boyer of Yellow Beak Press have hand picked the contributors for this project. Tattooers were selected based on style and asked to paint four sheets containing gross or weird subject matter. The result seem to be all over the board from gross-out to just bizarre. We promise it won’t disappoint! The book we are producing will include all of the content from the exhibit and some extra material. We hope to have it out in early 2013. Check Yellow Beak Press production updates. The opening was on 10-4-12 at PDX’s Upper Playground gallery. The exhibit will be up until December 2012. The roster is as follows. Aaron Coleman Adam Craven Adam Warmerdam Andrew Stickler Andy Campoy Bart Bingham Bradley Delay Craig Brown Danny Reed Erik Gillespie Ezra Haidet Jeff Rassier Jeremy Joachim Jesse Bob Jesse Gordon John Henry Gloyne Josh Howard Justin Wheeler Luis Campos Matthew Welch Matt Ziolko Miguel “Uzi” Montgomery Murray Sell Nick Filth Scott La Rock Sean O’Neill Shawn Mcdonald Tim Lehi Zach Shereck4 points -

Went into CTC last night to get my friend's daughter a new tattoo, Nick gave her a beautifully-done Phụng! And since I'm a well-known ink-whore who just couldn't drive all that way and come home bare-skinned, he drew me up a lil filler...pardon the lousy cellphone shot.3 points -

New Hampshire Congress St. Tattoo - *** Congress st/Hobos tattoo. Jason Scott is a great tattooer and has some strange (honest higgs-ish good strange) traditional tattoos I love. Bill Rocha works at the shops and was Marcus Khuns apprentice and it shows, but beyond that hes a solid tattooer. I dont know the rest but ron wells and chad k do guest spots and its new england tattoo history. So yea...add them haha.1 point -

Thanks so much! I truly couldn't be happier with it. I'm going to be in Manhattan in a few few weeks and I'm going to pop by the downtown Kings Avenue shop to get some serious photos taken for Mike's new portfolio. If I can get my hands on some of those professional photos I'll try and post them here for you to see.1 point -

I spent my Saturday afternoon with Jeff Zuck, finishing up the black in my backpiece. It was a fantastic experience as always. Jeff is one of the nicest, raddest dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the tattoo world. With the exception of a few spots, shading the butt wasn't as bad as I had psyched myself up for. A close friend of mine got a really awesome fox/owl totem from Jen Munford at the same time (it's up on her IG @threejenbirdmun). Needless to say, my (very pregnant) fiancee spent the afternoon being real jealous.1 point -

Ok here goes. Goofy dragon by Marie Sena (who happens to be the nicest person in the universe) done at the Montreal tattoo convention yesterday. This takes up most of the front of my thigh and only took three hours! She is a wizard. It was a fantastic experience. Inspired by the 100-year-old piece of flash that I gushed about here.1 point

Squatting can be frustrating. I had to take about 6 months and completely fix my squat, now it is my second favorite lift (dead lifting will forever hold a special place in my heart). From the squatting issues that I have seen, almost all cases it comes down to a lack of hip flexibility. While you guys know I'm not a big fan of crossfit, there is a guy who knows what he is talking about when it comes to keeping loose. Check out MobilityWOD and you'll be doing your hips and shoulders a favor.1 point

Thats a fantastic start with great results , nothing changes your body composition like weight training and women respond better than men. Don't worry about getting bigger as its very unlikely given your build and the absence of lots of food, protein and really heavy weights ,the more muscular and defined you are will make you look bigger but is more an illusion than anything .You' re at the point now to move away from machines-cables etc and focus on free-weights which build better muscle tie-ins,mental concentration ,balance , exercise technique amongst other things and you are sure to relish the challenge .One other thing totally forget about the weight of an exercise concentrate on exercise technique and the way a movement feels and always use the strictest form-get crazy OCD on this as your body doesn't know pounds only stress on the muscle.1 point

I tell you the one bonus of paleo for me is it reintroduced me to the sweet potato. I'd always been a fan of the Mexican pan dulce empanadas that had sweet potato and pumpkin filling, but I'd never eaten them on their own. Now I'm all about them mashed w/ pecans and maple = P1 point

the fact that everyone mentions bathing made me giggle a little bit. isnt it obvious and common sense to bathe before getting tattoos? the whole process should be as clean and sterile as possible, that includes your skin not just the tattooing equipment. and i have to admit something guys.... one time i totally forgot to tip!!, and i ALWAYS tip. it had been a long painful 6 hour sitting on my entire back and my brain felt fried. i paid my artist and than gtfo. the only things i had on my mind was getting home and smoking a joint. after the joint i remembered i hadnt tipped. and felt super embarrassed and asshole-ish. so i texted my artist (he gave me his cell phone number during a previous sitting) and apologized said i was totally out of it and felt bad cause. but i would make it up to him next time i came to town. oh, and i should also add, i felt especially bad about forgetting to tip because he bought me lunch that day! next sitting i tipped double, and have not forgotten to tip since than.1 point
