  3. Went into CTC last night to get my friend's daughter a new tattoo, Nick gave her a beautifully-done Phụng! And since I'm a well-known ink-whore who just couldn't drive all that way and come home bare-skinned, he drew me up a lil filler...pardon the lousy cellphone shot.

  5. I just wanted to mention this new project we are working on. It is an exhibit catalog for an art show with the theme “Born Weird” at Portland’s own Upper Playground gallery FIFTY24PDX. Craig Brown of Historic Tattoo and Scott Boyer of Yellow Beak Press have hand picked the contributors for this project. Tattooers were selected based on style and asked to paint four sheets containing gross or weird subject matter. The result seem to be all over the board from gross-out to just bizarre. We promise it won’t disappoint! The book we are producing will include all of the content from the exhibit and some extra material. We hope to have it out in early 2013. Check Yellow Beak Press production updates. The opening was on 10-4-12 at PDX’s Upper Playground gallery. The exhibit will be up until December 2012. The roster is as follows. Aaron Coleman Adam Craven Adam Warmerdam Andrew Stickler Andy Campoy Bart Bingham Bradley Delay Craig Brown Danny Reed Erik Gillespie Ezra Haidet Jeff Rassier Jeremy Joachim Jesse Bob Jesse Gordon John Henry Gloyne Josh Howard Justin Wheeler Luis Campos Matthew Welch Matt Ziolko Miguel “Uzi” Montgomery Murray Sell Nick Filth Scott La Rock Sean O’Neill Shawn Mcdonald Tim Lehi Zach Shereck

  10. New Hampshire Congress St. Tattoo - *** Congress st/Hobos tattoo. Jason Scott is a great tattooer and has some strange (honest higgs-ish good strange) traditional tattoos I love. Bill Rocha works at the shops and was Marcus Khuns apprentice and it shows, but beyond that hes a solid tattooer. I dont know the rest but ron wells and chad k do guest spots and its new england tattoo history. So yea...add them haha.

  11. I saw all the finished sheets for the first time this week. Everyone really threw down on this one. It was super impressive to see them displayed in the gallery. If you are near Portland check it out!

  15. I like the notion of different as well. But for such a big area, I think a classic will sit right at home for me. That's why adding a snake will take it a little beyond different (for me) while keeping it a classic. Plus a snake will add some needed asymmetry. Whoops looks like I've inadvertently made my decision

  18. @Brock Varty Toughing things out has a place, IMO, but I was talking more about injuries that suggest specifically contraindicated exercises as a result. Heavy bilateral squats could take a disc bulge and make it a herniation. If there are alternatives like a split squat, why not? Personally I still want to be training when I'm 80, so sure, I'll train smart rather than brave when it comes to injuries.

    Stickers

I got a couple of rad Tattoo Paradise stickers at the Montreal convention because they have the Corey O'Brien reaper on them which is my favorite image in the world ever, but like you, I have no idea where to put them.

  31. Oh believe me I have been eyeing up eagle chest pieces for quite some time. There are some tattoos which are stupid awesome but just are not for me to have. Luckily, there are too many other awesome ideas that are out there as well! I will say this...my chest piece is saved for someone in California.

  32. Cat/eagle is one I haven't seen as often as cat/snake or eagle/snake. I personally would go something a bit weird (like mongoose/snake :P), but I reckon any of them would be great. My vote is cat/eagle.

  35. Thanks so much! I truly couldn't be happier with it. I'm going to be in Manhattan in a few few weeks and I'm going to pop by the downtown Kings Avenue shop to get some serious photos taken for Mike's new portfolio. If I can get my hands on some of those professional photos I'll try and post them here for you to see.

  38. I spent my Saturday afternoon with Jeff Zuck, finishing up the black in my backpiece. It was a fantastic experience as always. Jeff is one of the nicest, raddest dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting in or out of the tattoo world. With the exception of a few spots, shading the butt wasn't as bad as I had psyched myself up for. A close friend of mine got a really awesome fox/owl totem from Jen Munford at the same time (it's up on her IG @threejenbirdmun). Needless to say, my (very pregnant) fiancee spent the afternoon being real jealous.

    Beer Thread

That's not a bad idea. Your can get an aluminium one from the Brewdog website. I brought this growler home with me from NY (I just liked it) but mislaid the screw top. Also bought a large bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale from a food store just 100 yards from my hotel. As I sat, in just my underpants drinking it, a maid stuck her head around the door. The look on her face was priceless. A good range of beers can be found at Home | Beer, Wine, Cider | Beers Of Europe.

  44. Hahaha @Graeme and I were just talking about this thread (and how painfully we identify with it) and one of his things was being stunned when you see a tube of Aquaphor in the bathrooms of friends who are not-tattooed, because it takes you a minute to remember that it has other uses.

  45. Somebody needs to make a candle with that scent:) ...when you get excited at a used book store or resale shop and come across something that you've seen used as reference in flash. All anyone else can think is "Why is this guy geeking out over a sheet music cover or bookend?" I also do this with samples in music though, so maybe it's just me.
