yeah, why would you want someone help you to properly take care of a large tattoo that you've invested your time, money and pain into? One that's physically impossible to reach by yourself with any level of consistency? :D

  19. I was 21 when I got my first tattoo (22 now). My little sister went with me to get it, and I stopped by my older sister's house on the way home to show it to her. I decided not to tell my mom about it, but she saw it one day when she went into my room while I was sleeping. She didn't mind since my sisters both got tattoos before me. When we were kids, though, she said that if any of we kids got tattoos, she would "scrape them off with a butter knife!"

  33. That wasn't an accident. There are more LST members in there too. It was an honour to be involved with this series. Chris Grosso is such an awesome guy who really "gets it" when it comes to tattooing and tattoo fandom. We actually missed having him around when shooting finished. Usually when someone has a camera in my face I'm glad to see them go. If we all watch these episodes online, watch the first season and tell our friends about them, maybe then the sponsors will see fit to finance more episodes in the future. Also Chris' co producer Lauren Cynamon and editor Jarad Jeter are the skilled guys who make the show immensely watchable and make Valerie and I look like coherent, interesting individuals. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes but I think Thom's will be something special. I liked the whole experience so much I put a sticker where I'll see it every day:

  35. Just back from two days under the needle. The artist was Ching, from Taiwan (as you can probably see from his watermarking of the photos). He's guesting at White Dragon Tattoo in Belfast along with his buddy Yang. Got to do the left arm when they come back next year... photo hosting photo hosting Overall a not bad couple of days. The outline and black background was relatively straightforward (on Monday). Yesterday ended up taking 7-8 hours, I think underestimated how much detail was involved in the buddha and hannya details.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

My Mom's been asking when I'd get one for her. I had wanted Ashley Love to do it, so now that summer is over, I made an appointment. Mom was stoked when I showed her. I believe her exact words were "I love it! I don't like that you get tattooed, but I love the design". :) Looks like a leg, but that's my forearm.

  47. Like Kev said if there is a policy about tattoos then you or whoever is the boss has every right to bring it up with the offender. If when hired there was no mention in paper or in person that tattoos are not allowed then you can only ask that they cover up and if they do they do and if they don't well they don't. If it's that big of a deal a company can put a new policy in place stating that tattoos and piercing must not be visible at work and then give it a couple days to get around. As far as women who let their tits hang out 'just so you can see the tattoo', well that is what we in America call a slut or a whore and they likely would have their tits hanging out even if they didn't have a tattoo. In fact I believe some get tattoos there just to have an excuse to wear a slutty top. If one person is not allowed to show their tattoos at work, then no one in the company should be.

  49. Interesting. Well, just on a positive note. My parents were born and raised in the bible belt, however, they moved to California as soon as they had me because they weren't happy there. My mom was raised Southern Baptist, and never wanted to force any beliefs on me, therefore, as soon as I felt alienated in church, I stopped going, which was quite young. My mom took me to get my first piercings in high school because she said "At least a hole can heal, better than a tattoo!" Hah, so she actually went with me to hold my hand through my first tattoo a little while later. She thought it was so beautiful that she considered getting one done herself by the same artist. She has one tattoo. She was a very sheltered and goody-goody I like to call her, all her life, especially before she hit 30. However, in one rebellious moment, her girlfriends convinced her to get my dad's initials on her chest. She drank 3 beers through a straw and let someone do it right there in the bar with a needle and ink. Most of my life she told me they were my initials (my dad and I have the same ones). My mom makes me show my tattoo (on my ribs) EVERYWHERE I go, it's pretty annoying at this point. Meawhile my dad was as wild as they came growing up. He tried to get a tattoo once on his bicep, it was too painful for him. He has a DOT tattooed there, I think I must have made fun of it since I was 10 or so. When I showed him my first tattoo, he was blown away by it, and ashamed at the story of his dot tattoo, haha...he kept asking if I was ok, since I showed him when the tattoo was still fresh. I'm blessed to have great parents.

  50. I got my first tattoo when i was 23,and it was a heart with Mom inside.I got it because i love my Mom,but also because she told me if i didn't go to rehab, she would throw me out of the house.I never thought of getting a tattoo before, but in rehab,my roomate was in the special forces, and he had all these cool tattoos. So when i got home,i wen't to the local biker/tattoo shop and got me a Mom Tattoo. My Mother didn't really care much..But she's one of the reasons why i don't smoke PCP anymore.
