If you live in New York and havent gotten tattooed by timothy hoyer, you're making a mistake.

I'm getting tattooed by Tim Hendricks at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum 2 weeks from now. It's gonna be a pirate-lady head based on the famous Bert Grimm flash piece.

That last photo is from the book Bikeriders by Danny Lyon. That photographer is the real fuckin' deal. I saw him lecture once. He is amazing. Also, the song Bikeriders by Lucero is loosely based on that book. I know @dcostello will be intersted in that. - - - Updated - - - as in, you wish this could be your livelihood? or as in, you wish you could just post pics on this forum? I don't think anyone will object to the second one....

A friend of mine was visiting New York and got tattooed by Grez on three days notice. I think he had a cancellation. If I were living in New York again I would get tattooed by Mike Lucena at Flyrite.

I’m getting tattooed in two and a half weeks by dan santoro. I’m getting a bracelet tattoo around my wrist and then I’m picking something off the wall for my forearm of the same arm. Can’t wait ala bart scott.

Great Low brow tattoos and art from an Australian veteran. Met Karl last night at a mutual friends wedding a super nice guy with a tonne of talent. When I was an apprentice, we had a lot of people coming in to ask for apprenticeships (of course). One night, a pretty nice looking girl comes in, and does the typcial dance: first asks to see books, walks around the shop for a bit, and then starts up a conversation with me about apprenticeships. I tried to steer her as well as I could; she had no visible tattoos, and only had a few poorly executed script and rose drawings to show anyone. First bit of advice I gave - get tattooed. A lot. Not only does it show that you're a committed participant in the tattoo world, but it will also allow you to build relationships with good artists that can possibly help you when the time is right for you to move into an apprenticeship. Next bit of advice: start copying flash. It went on from there, but she made a point to say how she felt like she shouldn't have to be "tattooed up" to be a tattoo artist, and how some shit-bag local artist (who also was very lightly tattooed) had agreed with her when they talked about it (no secret what that was about), and how they both hated the thought of being judged for having tattoos. When I told her that our shop wasn't accepting any apprenticeships at that time, she finished up by saying how some busy street shop owner in Garland, TX had offered to let her apprentice for a pretty sizable fee, and that she someday hoped to have an "LA Ink style" shop staffed completely by "hot tattoo chicks". I couldn't get her out the door quickly enough. If they don't have tattoos, then fuck 'em.

Well after being desk bound since Highschool I've lost all strength I worked hard to get and ballooned from 180 to 265 when I went to college. Back down to 219 now and continuing to work my ass off. Hardest part is getting my ass moving and need to quit smoking. My future rib tattoo is my serious motivation!

@Iwar Thanks mate But I know what you have, Grime, Lehi, Sylvia, Conn......Im doing a bit of hating too,haha. Yeah I went to Japan twice and had four sessions with master Shige. Was the most expensive trips I think I will ever make in a lifetime but most definitely worth it and great experience, not to mention a bad ass tattoo too.

Busy month for me ahead with 3 appointments. Chad Keoplinger, Matt Beckerich and Grant Cobb coming to Ireland and am booked in with em all!! Chad- Big Ed Hardy style panther head stabbed by daggers with couple roses thrown in on my thigh, that'll be big piece! Matt - Either a dagger or a skull. Grant- Not sure,possibly hands, but obviously putting lot of thought into it.

I just conducted what is known as a "Star Spread" - 5 cards pulled from meditations on the Major Arcana. The exhibition was essentially a raw reflection of my inner being at the time. Cards that loomed over my house over the course of a year leading up to the show The Empress, The Emperor, The wheel, The Devil, The Star and The Chariot (Installation)

Final bit done on my Horiyoshi III piece. Tattooed by @Stewart Robson at Frith Street Tattoos. I love the detail & colours in this. Horiyoshi, himself, liked this on Stewarts Instagram. Thats one hell of a compliment.

I've got so much flash tattooed on me I'm thinking of changing my name to "Flash Harry"

Countless times when people say "i dont want the stuff on the wall, it looks too cartoon-y" i'd simply go trace a piece of JD Crowe or National Brand flash and show them the outline and they say "oh I love it!" go figure.

This seems like the best place for this--cover-up flash sheet by Josh Howard: I love this so much! I'd get that coffee pot and not even cover anything with it.

I don't have any cover-ups on my body but I tattoo a hell of a lot of them. Most of the larger work that I do (bigger than 1/2 sleeve) usually incorporates some kind of cover-up. I started to make a point of NOT taking a 'before' picture. Sometimes I do, but I found that the cover-up requests got bigger and bigger the more cover-ups I showed. Covering a half sleeve sized tattoo with a full sleeve compromises the end product but I sometimes enjoy the challenge and the problem-solving aspect of it. This is one of the more tricky ones from last year or so, when I used to take 'before' photos: I got an email today asking if I could cover a full sleeve - with a sleeve.

chad did my red roses on my hands and i adore them, really. also, they are a favourite cover up aid, the look great and sort most hideous tattoos out no problem
