Fuck foot tattoos so glad i'm done! I got mine done when I first was in the Navy and went with the pig and rooster but did it a little different then most because everyone had the Sailor Jerry ones. Another interesting one i've seen was fog horn leg horn and porky pig. I thought those were pretty awesome.

I'm booked in with Matt Arriola for a tiger head on my foot at the New Plymouth convention. Already have a sweet snake by William so looking forward to evening things up, Matt does great tigers...bring on November

i think i might be back. but i can't get too distracted as this semester is the first one doing "real" science and math. August has been a blast! i saw 3 rattlesnakes, learned how to mist-net and handle bats while camping in Tahoe National Forrest, handled 6 bats (5 on the trip and one last Friday during my volunteer shift at Wildcare), and performed my first necropsy yesterday on a opossum that had been attacked by a dog (or at least i'm guessing that due to the large wound it had). it's all kind of creepy crawly science shit, but it's been life changing and i love it!

Went to the party yesterday. It was cool. Some nice prints by Horitomo for sale. I was able to snatch a copy of the cat tebori print and get it signed by him. I'd have bought his Yoshitsune warrior print too but I couldn't figure out a way to bring it onto my return flight to LA w/o damaging it. The place was busy w/ a lot of machines buzzing. So busy, that they were running short of tables to work on people. I got the back of my thigh worked on, and Jill finished up a namakubi there. I'm really digging it. Can't post a picture since I'm on my cell till I fly home. But it's on Jill's Instagram if anyone wants to check it out. Great seeing all the guest artists and seeing everyone working. I briefly talked to a couple of them and they're some really nice guys. Also saw @hogg. Great seeing you and talking at the party!

Just got back home from SF, the consultation with Grime couldn't have gone better... He starts my back in January :D Also got to see a sleeve he was wrapping up today, blew my fucking mind! That guy is a maniac....

This happened yesterday. I'm going back in a couple weeks to finish them. Marius also gave me this awesome original painting. I had trouble sleeping because of how bad they hurt afterwards.

hi- Just joined, and did the proper introduction in another post. Have to say, there are some amazing tattoos posted here. So much fun to browse through all the posts. Here are a few pics of a tattoo I got on August 6th, at Congress Street Tattoo in Portsmouth, NH. (sister shop to Hobo's if you are familiar) The artist is a guy by the name Tony Sellers (or Fat Tony) and the tattoo itself is a design based on a sketch out of Martin Lacasse's 365 book. This is my first forearm tattoo. Kind of a big move for me. The first two pics are when it was first done, and the third is about 3 weeks later. thanks for looking. (for some odd reason the pictures are all pointing the wrong way, very irritating.)

Just got a small painting by a Belfast artist called Colin Davidson. His latest series ('Transmission') is large and small portraits, some of famous Irish people (actors, poets) and some of unknowns. I couldn't afford one of the large-scale pieces, which are just amazing, but managed one of the smaller painting studies. Funnily enough there is a tattoo connection here, as one of the bigger portraits is of Belfast-based tattooist Chris Crooks - Colin Davidson This one of Marketa Irglova, an actress, is probably my favourite:-

Ok so I was slacking and forgot to update you all, Thanks Dan for reminding me. Test was a 3 1/2 hour test, and after gaining two large blisters, two black eyes, bruised jaw and a awesome fat and bloody lip, I received my Shodan :D Basic's Kata Also Kata One attack Sparring - 1st fight, 1 vs 1 for 2 mins. Sparring - 2nd fight, 2 vs 1 for 1 min You can see it starting to swell up during the question and answer portion, by the time we got to the bar, I had to use a straw to drink Myself and the 3 others who tested :)

I think The Sailors Grave might be an appointment only shop, but you can always phone ahead and ask.

I hate you @WeRnDoG ;) I remember your Grime piece (as I see it roughly every other week while I'm flipping through the IRON WILL book) I had forgotten that you also had a Shige piece. Did you go to Japan for that one, or did you catch an appointment at a convention?

@Liz Stitch Ellis...congrats on the amazing accomplishment. For me, this past week was pretty good... I went to a game at Yankee Stadium, took a nice long motorcycle ride to get some kick ass bbq, found a cool little unknown tattoo shop loaded with amazing flash and spent some time at the indoor shooting range. A very therapeutic week but reality set in quickly back at work today.

I won't be as helpful as bigjoe but if you're into realism style tattoos, I believe Andy Engel is in Germany. I'm sure there are many more but that's all I can personally think of off the top of the head and he's pretty sick. default

Thanks! It's a hard balance sometimes; right now I want to be curled up in bed eating m&ms and watching Escape from NY- Instead I'm going to bike in the rain to the gym. But afterwards I know I'll feel great... and reward myself with the new Cronenberg movie!

He hasn't. But when I get my stomach finished, maybe I'll coerce him to telling it on film.

Since beginning my journey into fitness/health (52lbs lost as of yesterday's weigh in!) I've been getting much more inventive with cooking; i'd always relied on fat, salt, etc to make things taste good. Now that Im cooking more balanced meals I've had to really stretch myself to make it interesting and satisfying while maintaining the caloric guidelines I set on myself. I've been really pleased with how things are coming out, and was recently asked to teach a 'healthy cooking' class for my weight loss group. Oh. And I celebrate every 10lbs lost with foie gras and charcuterie, so I'm not a total square!

Thanks @SStu . @Iwar my left leg is a Shige/Grime squid pant. Shige has done a big dragon up top I posted it somewhere in the latest lowdown. I have two pieces from Grime on my lower leg, Hannya which i use for my avatar and a creepy snake lady with tits. @hogg forgot to mention about pain..... Yep there are definitely some fun spots around the lower back/arse/hip area. There seems to be a lot if nerve endings that make me want to twitch hence a couple of squiggly lines Dean pointed out,haha but I know you know all about that.

even though my back is jacked up I couldn't pass up joining a team for Race The Reaper. Its a 6.5 mile race with 22 obstacles similar to TOugh Mudder. Its TOmmorrow and although I have not been training especially for a run I think it will be a blast

Exactly. Telling someone they have bad tattoos is in extremely poor taste even if they bash them themselves. Just put on good tattoos. Besides, most good tattooers I know have at least a couple of shitty tattoos. It's practically a job prerequisite. Agreed again! With a slight modification, you just described one of my good friends that I used to work with. Every time I visit him at the shop he's at now all he does is trash other artists in town, skilled or not, people he's met or not, and compares the work he currently doing to them. A good friend, but one of the negative people I know. Ironically, he talks all this buddhist shit and acts like other people cant get on his level of being at one with the world blah blah. And yeah, whenever I visit him he's never working on anything lol.

This thread is fucking amazing and why I signed up here! As for me, getting tattooed by Marie Sena at the Montreal convention in September, then getting more work on my back by the awesome Steph Tamez at Saved in October. I am not usually someone who gets tattooed this frequently but I think I am going through a thing. Maaaaay fit in another piece before the end of the year to commemorate a Big Life Event but not sure if timing will work out.

I have an appt with @Scott Sylvia monday october 22nd to start my back. Eagle and roses maybe something else who knows also penciled in for friday the 26th saturday oct 27th @Valerie Vargas is doing 2 tattoos for me sunday oct 28th Stuart cripwell in the A.M.

This Saturday will be my 2nd appointment with Jill Bonny on my backpiece.

i hope its a "mom" tattoo. i once showed my mother a new tattoo i had gotten, i was about 23 years old, she took a look at it, started crying and told me i was ugly. this article resonates deeply with me. the woman who wrote the article is a complete fucking moron.

the only skull I have on me is by Mike Lucena and is below. Gotta say I love skulls by Rudy, Hooper (who has that whole book of skulls), Jondix, Jensen, Garver, the usual suspects.... Both Stewart and Valerie over at Frith St have pretty radical day of the dead skulls on their website. Surely there's people I'm forgetting right now though.

Tattoos inside of lips. I did one once, and I almost passed out. I don't do well with drool I guess.
