After 33 years of tattooing i've decided to work my very first convention!!!!!! Yikes! If I don't have an anxiety attack ha ha I will be working with my husband Don and sharing a booth with Dawn Cooke/ Depot Town at The Bay Area Convention of Tattoo Arts Oct 26,27 &28th Wish me luck5 points -
I would have a tendency, with the feet to go with something that matches, size & style wise. A pair of Japanese masks a traditional cockerel and pig or matching circular geometric designs like a rose mandala. Another option would be a single design that flows over both feet. This one tattooed by Michael E. Bennett from 2Spirit Tattoo in San Francisco. And this by Tomas Tomas of Into You, London5 points

I like things to match up. I don't have my feet tattooed yet, but I do know what I am going to get on them. My wife has a couple of old pieces of flash. One is Tom Berg and the other Stoney St. Clair. They are similar in shape and theme so they go well together. I friend of mine has a jesus and a devil head both by Scott Harrison and they are awesome.5 points -
My feet don't match exactly, but are kinda complimentary. I'm really happy with how they look together. Left by Bailey Robinson, right by Deno.4 points

I kind of hate you right now. Those are two things I've always wanted, but ran out of room for. Who's doing them? As for my feet, I got a daruma and Oiwa (cool legend about her, by the way) by Bill and Junii Salmon:3 points

Jesse was unreliable. This kid is ambitious with criminal backing. Back then Walt needed Jesse as much as Jesse needed Walt. Now Walt just needs a friend, and this kid definitely is not a friend.3 points -

I think it looks best if there's some consistency, not necessarily "matching" but at least a similar size, B&W/colour, style or theme. I personally only have one foot done, and the asymmetry is killing me.3 points -

I have a hot stuff blowing fire on one foot, thought about getting a kewpie doll on other foot or maybe a green hot stuff as the one I have is red. Honestly after having one foot done, I would want something pretty straight forward that won't take too long (shit hurts) but be bold and look good.2 points -

any incarnation of this image is so fucking badass. hands down one of the best designs and makes for an awesome chest or back pieces. with mine, i think i'd have to go with a tiger, a dragon, and an eagle.2 points -
Pssh- I'm probably going to have an owl on the other side of my chest, eagle battle royale on my back, bring my torso bird count to four. Birdman-fly in any weather :cool:2 points

What people don't know about you, can't hurt you. Wear the long sleeves and be the ultra conservative guy. There isn't a person I work with that knows a have any tattoos and I plan on it staying that way. Casual fridays are for the administrative staff....... I've only worn long sleeves once the lines went past short-sleeve coverage. No turning back, this is what I choose when I took it to the next level.2 points

This is currently my only tattoo, done by Johannes(Black Stallion Tattoo) who now works at Good Faith in Brookline, MA. I'd wanted a tattoo since I was 18. I'd been throwing around a lot of ideas in my head of band-related tattoos but couldn't settle on where I'd start. I'd been researching artists for a while and one day stumbled on the stencil for basically this bear that Johannes had on his Facebook saying that he wanted to do the bear on someone. No one had replied, so I volunteered and ended up getting it done at the Rochester convention in May.2 points -

One statement that drives me crazy from people that I know (friends and family) that have seen me collect tattoos is: "So when are you going to move on to your head/neck?" in a sarcastic/ joking way. I've decided if I'm talking to a woman, I going to say "Oh, you shave your legs- when are you moving on to your head?"2 points

People using stereotypes with Tattoo art.
Kev reacted to David Flores for a topic
Funny I would think the guy with the tribal tattoo was gay, wasn't it the gay gentlemen who frequented leather bars that started that movement, at least here in the state, before it became the frat boy and then cage fighter tattoo? Not trying to start a stereotype just to show that anything can be turned around and twisted and things change over time.1 point -

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. I will check out some of those websites and blogs, plus try to walk in to a few of the shops that were mentioned. It's funny, I still feel very intimidated when I walk into any tattoo shop, like I am always the un-coolest person in the place. I know I definitely am, but I just felt like checking a different shop. He did a dragon/tiger/peony sleeve for me. I started with a dragon on my inner forearm, than the following year I covered up an old black and grey eagle with the tiger. The following year I decided to just sleeve up the whole arm, which took another 4 sessions I believe. The peony is on the inner bicep. The last two years he did a koi on my right lower arm. I have a black and grey lion portrait on my right upper arm, so I am not quite sure what to do with the rest of it.1 point -
I got my T-shirt yesterday. Thanks Kev! The shirt is of much higher quality than I expected. Thanks for sending it so quickly.1 point

Rose tattoos
TrixieFaux reacted to Avery Taylor for a topic
I am glad you posted these. Last week I took the time to make up a big post with examples of some roses that I love. I then deleted the entire post and I didn't have the heart or the time to put it all back together. I had also added a Scott Harrison rose (which are pretty hard to find on the internet), and a couple by Juan Puente. The thing that they all have in common is that no skin is left in them. They are colored in all the way to the outline. I really dig this style. I think it gives them a nice full look.1 point -
I know it is in Brooklyn, but I would suggest anyone at Smith Street. That's where I would go anyway. You referenced Smith street but Dan S. And Eli do some pretty diverse stuff.1 point

I would do the rounds, see what you like. Three Kings, NY Adorned, Invisible, Thicker Than Water, Saved, Bound For Glory, probably forgetting a ton of shops. Getting the chance to go into a bunch of really good shops and check out portfolios is part of the collecting experience, plus you will see who is really into your idea and a chance to explain exactly what you mean and get instant feedback on how your idea will translate.1 point -

Hey, welcome. Nice tattoo. I just browsed through this, I just not a new tattoo on the top of my thigh, and notice that my clothing rubbing on it though out the day would cause similar pink/redness and slight warmth at the end of the day.
