  1. Final bit done on my Horiyoshi III piece. Tattooed by @Stewart Robson at Frith Street Tattoos. I love the detail & colours in this. Horiyoshi, himself, liked this on Stewarts Instagram. Thats one hell of a compliment.

I'm currently finishing a sleeve, but my next tattoo is going to be a wolf theme. I started thinking about a wolf head on my calf, then a whole wolf, then a wolf and a panther, then a wolf chasing a panther around my leg, then a wolf head and lady head with Indian headdress, then ... You get the idea. Over thinking it again. It's not easy being me. I've been looking at pics. At least I've got it narrowed down to traditional rather than realistic. I have two more sessions on my sleeve, then I'll probably get the wolf done next January or February.

  9. Getting tattooed the other day the artist mentions getting a dagger through the neck tattoo would be a good idea, Now all I can think of is getting it done I think I have a problem :D

  10. The first one of these traditional dog portraits I saw was done by Chris Conn on my boss back in mid 90's. I started seeing more of them in the last year and I agree I think they are way cool and perfect for something like a picture of your dog. You can have a little more fun with them as well, capture some of their personality.

For two weeks out it looks pretty good. And so does the tattoo. Seriously, Everyone's body deals with tattoo's differently, so I wouldn't get too worried. Especially since you didn't use any gray wash! I've had work that was about completely healed in two weeks, and work that took over a month to completely heal. I'd suggest varying the type/amount of lotion you are using on it, if any. I had some problems healing a large piece on my ribs, and I think it was mostly due to some spots retaining the lotion, while others were rubbed dry. The one I'm healing now I am leaving completely dry...see what happens.

So my tattoo is a little over two weeks old and has no other signs of infection , but it has a tendency to get really warm (sometimes pink along with the warmness but not always). I went to my usual artist's shop and they looked at it and said it looked like it was healing up fine (and it could be tender and healing internally since it's close to the knee), but what's going on? - - - Updated - - - Has anyone had a similar problem? - - - Updated - - - The sides and top don't really ever get red and seem to be fine , it's more of the top of my thigh and especially close to the knee.

  16. Another piece by @Nick Colella of CTC, one-day notice to get it. Far as he can figure, Tom Berg did the flash in the thirties, and it's been on the wall fo the shop for some decades... First step in filling in the rest of my left arm, and it should work. I have some very old western-style stuff like a panthers head on that arm, as well as some fairly old (1982-1984) Jap style work, so we have to kinda get a blending going on. Thought this piece did that well. There will be one more fairly major piece, and then fill. Pix aren't the best, but you get the idea....I know this isn't the most rad and popluar styling, but hey, old flash for an old guy! Background of the shop is kinda kool, too.

Welcome. Your tattoo looks just fine! Sometimes we all forget that we are healing something and worry that something might have gone wrong (not saying you are, I think we all have a tendency to from time to time). But that's a slick tattoo. Do we get to know the name of the artist?

  22. Nick did an awesome job of blending the new colors to the old! Can't wait to see what they come up with to finish off that arm. ...and I do believe the wings are on the Lady. It may not be real obvious in the photos that Dan posted, but the proportions are all wrong for the wings to be on the dragon.

    Tattoo Scars

More than likely your body is just reacting to having pigment in your skin and is not scarred. If enough skin trauma has occurred to scar you up, then you would probably have significant loss of pigment in the skin during the healing process.

  28. Best Ink blew dead rats compared to Ink Masters.. which wasn't that great. EVERY "reality" show has a host that is the bossy little girl. If you ever had the misfortune to play house with a girl from down the street (when you were a little kid...) you know what I mean. The little brassy bitch that sends anyone home that pisses her off. 34. I do think it's nutty to make the tattooers race against the clock like every other Top Chef-like reality show out there. Would they have a show called "America's Best Plastic Surgeon" and put a stopwatch on the guy doing a nose job? (Actually, I would watch that show, too.)

  39. That is one of the worst color portraits I have ever seen in my life. Below i posted a link to Virginia Elwood's facebook page. Not only does she do good black and grey portraits, but she has some good examples of what I was suggesting as a more traditional take on a portrait using color. I know you are not going to go to New York, but I mean this is what good tattooing looks like, I hate to say it, but that shop you posted has more bad stuff than good, although there is some good, just trying to steer you in the right direction. oh, big surprises in store people...Jesse Smith wins....call me psychic. I know the competition looks tough ( rolls eyes ) ....and I dont even like "new school" but I won't deny talent. This whole thing seems like a rigged competition in order to be a drawn out TV commercial for the 1 dude with true skills. These shows are bad news for ethical tattooist who actually care about the industry. terrible. I can't even express how miserable this whole thing is. If the show was loaded with awesome artist, I would be singing a different tune. But, well, I suppose it is like hoping to see a real life unicorn...it just is not gonna happen. Sorry if I offend anyone, not my intention....getting people to be more critical of bad tattooing and ethical tattooing IS my intention. These shows cheapen the whole thing by putting bone-head hacks on a pedestal and calling them "worlds best"....
