As promised here are (finally) some shots of what I got from Matt Cunnington Westside Tattoo - Professional Services - Brisbane, QLD | Facebook about a month ago. I apologise for the crappy pics, but its a hard spot to take your own photos of. And the pics are off a phone so be nice lol. I missed out on the Flash day that they had and rang in on the right day at the right time and bypassed a long ass waiting list. Matt came in on his day off because he really wanted to do it and ended up completely redrawing the design fresh to fit my leg and add some ground to it. It was a really amazing experience and Matt is a gentleman and a scholar. I wish these photos did the tattoo justice so I'll upload better ones when I can (there's about 4 or 5 shades in the pattern on the little guys back)5 points

Not to go back and forth (as I've seen too much on all of the gun forums out there) but as I've seen most people are not tactically trained. Even if they are trained, to draw a weapon, locate the assailant, index the target and accurately place shots while being shot at in a dark movie theatre with a lot of environmental problems like other people, etc. This also with the fact of not hitting another person I stand by my position.2 points -
Love that Myke Chambers squidpant. I saw some amazing legs being worked on by Thomas Hooper (I hear y'all have heard of him?) the last time I was at Saved. At a certain point I looked up from my own spot and all I saw in front of me was a row of men in their boxers, one finishing up and one getting started, both with very inky legs, standing in waiting with their faces buried in their iphones, and in my own tattoo haze I was pretty sure it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. I think this photo is a bit of one of those legs: Source2 points

It's been awhile since we've done a get together for the Bay Area and I also know we have some people coming out this way on vacations plus it'll be LST's two year birthday on September 21 so time to start planning....... Who is down to get together? Who is coming out in September for vacation and what dates? We'll try and get something organized for everyone though as we all know it can be difficult with schedules overlapping. If the party doesn't lineup when we have LSTers out this way I would still like to try and meet up and grab coffee or something while you're out here...... Let the fun begin to take shape!1 point -

In my view the GB pistol team should have boycotted the Olympics. As a matter of principle, if nothing else. At least it would have caused a little bit of embarrassment to the UK government. One of the problems is that UK shooters have never really stuck together. As far as the guy who wrote the article in the Guardian he is an idiot. He knows nothing about guns or shooting. What criminal would be the slightest bit interested in a single shot .22 rimfire target pistol. As for the ban on pistols it has done nothing to stop gun crime. But then it’s a lot easier to take guns from law abiding people than it is from criminals. And as for the notion that you should have the right to defend yourself, heaven forbid.1 point

Yep, at the end of the day it's not for everybody. Being a footballer or a riding a motorcycle doesn't mean you can take any more than the golfer/banker. Social expectations don't make you tough or impervious to pain...they just make you act like it when you have an audience...and a choice.1 point

If anyone had tried to counter, it would have been a miracle if they actually hit him. To anyone who ever shot at a range, you can understand this. It was dark, loud, people moving/screaming, etc. Even if you were close, people usually carry smaller guns (snubs, pocket .380s, etc) which makes effective range close to null. I know I personally wouldn't have fired back. You probably had a good chance of hitting another person.1 point -

David Flores reacted to Mr. Smith for a topic
I wouldn't listen to his whining. Tell him to either suck it up or shut the fuck up and deal with having a half finished tattoo. Shit hurts, but not THAT bad. If he can't deal with it even with numbing gel, he doesn't deserve to have the tattoo.1 point -

David Flores reacted to Mr. Smith for a topic
Never underestimate shame as a motivator. Seriously though, if it's just a forearm tattoo, one application of Dr. Numb (or whatever magic soap your artist prefers) should be enough to finish it. Xanax or something like that can be really helpful too (from what I'm told)...it doesn't ease the pain, but makes it easier to deal with. And like CG said, if it's an anxiety thing that might help with that.1 point -

This is just the beginning... Of possibly my favorite back pieces ever completed. When this client came in asking for the design, i did have to ask if he was serious...for real, dead serious? Well, i drew the design seen here, and included those banners containing a quote from carlin when he addresses the city in the beginning of the movie. So this is my first picture posting, and again...just the beginning, and i will post more as the project does progress....1 point -

Some pictures from a book I picked up not too long ago entitled A History of Japanese Body Suit Tattooing (I found out about the book thanks to a couple people on this site, so thank you for that, LST). Unfortunately, none of these pictures had credits for the tattooers. The third and fourth picture are both tattoos of Benkei (or Onikawamaru [Young Devil Child]) fighting a giant carp that devoured his mother at the Bishamon Waterfall.1 point -

I think people have made this remark/complaint about every subculture ever. It's a variation on: "If goths/punks/insert subculture here all want to be different, why do they all look the same?" It is a really tired and angry teenager debate to me. Industries try and capitalize on trends. That's life. And I think the impulse and passion for getting tattoos cannot be reduced to being about "being yourself/expressing yourself being an individual". People participate in tattoo subculture for a million different reasons, and even the notion of "being yourself" or "expressing your individualism" doesn't mean one specific thing to anyone who feels it. I also think that many people who get heavily into tattoos are like me in that they don't do it entirely for some intellectually thought out identity reason; they just feel it in their gut that this is something that is right to them. And feelings in your gut are very hard to articulate in words, and sometimes come out as "to express myself as an individual" or whatever, but that is really not a true reflection of that instinct. Moral of the story: I really wish people would stop always assuming that some kind of rebellious individualism is the driving force in getting tattooed. I think that is reductive and misses the point.1 point

Killed deadlifting today! I was going in to do singles with 125kg. Last week I did 6 with 120kg, so, yeah... The guy who has been checking my form and stuff as I go along (thats the good thing about the place I train. Older and more experienced guys ask if you need help or you dont mind if I give you a few pointers?.) was again there at the same time. I warmed up and did a single with the 125. He said That was easy. You are doing fives next. OK... Well, I did but couldnt keep my grip that good. He said try the mixed grip, and I did. Did 125x5, 125x5 & 125x4. My max single from like a month ago is 132.5kg... I think that will shatter like a bad egg sooooon! :) They said I started to loose the strenght from my legs in the last set and was pulling too much with my back from the get go. True. Have to traing more legs! And I tend to sometimes go too much forward. Even if the bar goes up my legs as it should. I think it is because I sometimes (and even more as a child) walk up the stairs with my heels up in the air, for some reason. Have to unlearn it...1 point -
