  8. Just because someone says they're a Christian doesn't make them one. I can say that I'm the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, but that doesn't mean I am. If someone is a judgmental self-righteous asshole, it doesn't matter what they call themselves; what they really are is a judgmental self-righteous asshole.

  9. I finally managed to bust out a razor and clean my leg up for the first time since I got this done back at Ink N' Iron a few months ago. Queen inspired piece done by Steve Byrne. I apologize if the picture is somewhat dim. It was the best shot I could get with my phone.

I don't know if it's smart of me to admit, but I'm in possession of one of these "squidthongs" you speak of lol. Tribal into the Crack would be a great name for a 90's cover band.... Squidthong would work too.

  19. Looking for pics and ideas for collar tattoos (below the neck) that encircle the collar. I first noticed the mala bead tattoos some irezumi have in their tattoos and really liked the idea: I'm thinking chains, ropes, beads, wreaths, ouroboros, or even Hooper style filigree would look great Wondering how something like that affects a back tattoo- better to wait, get the back tattoo and bring it around from there? *NOTE I have nothing against script collar tattoos, I'm just looking for collar tattoos that are image based.

    Greetings!

Hello everyone! I have been collecting tattoos for about 15 years now, and absolutely LOVE being a tattooed woman! I have collected probably around 200 hours worth of work from many different artists. Love going to conventions, and traveling to get tattooed. this looks like a great place for like minded people! Can't wait to talk to you all more!

I am not sure how he would make any money off this aside from whatever royalties he'll be getting from it airing in the UK (not sure what the Community Channel is but it doesn't scream "big money" to me). Either way I doubt it he is making "bank" off this. I suggest everyone who enjoys to donate to the paypal on the Gypsy Gentleman site.

Empty your mind of any worry and doubt, and go in and nail it! Stick with the hot shower and stretches, though, really helps the morning of!

    Hey and Shit.

We just called it Martin City...I was one a "Al's Kid's". Got out in late '72, and man, it was still tules out there then. Hours drive to get to anything. Went back there a few years ago, looking around, shit-I couldn't find a damn thing I recognized. Went to St. Joseph in Shawnee-Mission for a year, couldn't even recognize the school, went to Grandview Senior for a minit, and I couldn't even recognize the damn town. Y'all let too many people in!!!!

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Turns out Oliver Peck, Chad Koeplinger and more (I think Chris Nunez and Matt Ariola) are guesting in Ireland before the London Convention. Super tempted to get Oliver to do a tattoo on my other foot to match my panther he did, but I'm already getting my right arm sleeved by Ching from East Tattoo in early September and I'm under the needle again for a couple of days with Tomo later in the year. Already pushing my budget all to hell (got a wedding to put on next year too... Shit...)...

  38. Neato...someone quoted my first post here on LS; thank you very much. Well, as long as were on this subject, I'd like to share a couple of experiences that I feel are pretty interesting...they've become lore amongst the friends and artists I work around, so I hope you dig 'em too. FIRST- During my apprenticeship, in 1992, my mentor, Mr. G at The Ink Zone Tattoo in Lodi N.J. taught me an important lesson in the things I may do to my clients as a professional tattooist, and how they may feel.....with the educational variable of how they were "supposed" to feel. Both Mr.G and I did small to moderate sized areas of "needle work", using a solution of distilled water and Green Soap so as not to make any permanent marks, since this was just an exercise, and "tattooed" almost every conceivable part of my body.....EVERY PART! Some of these sessions consisted of up to 3hrs. of work, punctuated by direction and Q&A. I've felt confident during the span of my career giving answers to the popular client question," where do you think it hurts the worst? " based on my personal experience. Now wait...I admit, I may not have full knowledge of what longer sessions feel like in many areas, or what it feels like to receive work in those same places by an artist with the determination to make solid and or bold lines, as well as solid color and or perfect blends. ( Man, please excuse my grammar today!) Since then, I have taught two "students" most of what I knew about the art of tattooing, who, with encouragement to also develop techniques on their own based on the unique strengths they possessed, but regretfully, did not put them through the same rigors of understanding the "feel" like my mentor had with me. I remembered that I had a tough time healing these areas, and while I didn't necessarily get infections, I did experience the "crash" of my immune system when I got a lot of this "green soap work" at once. To this day, longer amounts of needle time seem to make my ear, nose, and throat system act up. This is why i chose not to pass on the lesson, but nevertheless, both of my students became very talented, accomplished tattooists. Smiles. Well, since that got rather wordy, I'll make the 2nd and 3rd stories quick.....I had Grime begin my sleeve/chest plate in 2 sessions, but 4 days apart. He was on a guest tour, and I reserved as much time as I could, and he informed me that by keeping the 1st days work wrapped until the next session, I'd be fine. I also had 2 artist work on me at one time. They were guests at my shop during our local tattoo convention. Both of these experiences were very educational, and I feel I can now give advice regarding them. Both hurt a lot, and the particularly "extreme" parts of both felt unlike any other tattoo I've ever received. Both sucked and I'll never do either again...I would advise the same, LOL. The end. I hope no one fell asleep....

  39. I'm a pastor, so my tattoos get stares quite often. I'm a talker and my profession also demands that I be one, so typically when I see the stares I say hello and hope that a little dialog ensues. If the outcome is that their outlook on life broadens a bit; great. If they get super offended; I say a prayer that God show them the error in their judgmental ways and that they come to the realization that my tattoos are awesome.

  43. I love the "your body is a temple" logic against tattoos. It is the perfect example of using something totally out of context. I am a bit rusty on my bible study, but I am 90% sure that when Jesus said that he was referring to prayer. I think that he had travelled to the temple and everyone there was acting like an asshole so he stood outside and said "fuck the temple, it has become a real fucking mess, so just pray wherever you are. Your body is the temple and wherever you pray God will hear you" I am not sure when that was turned into "don't get that anchor on your arm". I know that there is a line or two in there about don't mark yourself, but there at least that many lines about not eating bacon as well.

  44. Right, should've articulated better. People know what they're signing up for. The proposed laws and recent actions of police aren't just a case of fucking around in the everyday lives of innocent people. These groups are not distantly associated with violent crime: they're in the thick of it. The sheer arrogance required to fire a weapon into a home or business, especially with some of the near-misses in NSW involving innocent people and children, shouldn't be tolerated. If someone doesn't want the cops on their ass, here's an idea: join one of the many bike clubs that don't have connections to criminal activity. I would rather have "draconian" gun laws than elected representatives being shot in the head while speaking in public, kids being shot on the way home from the store for wearing hoodies and "looking suspicious", and the disgustingly casual use of the term "school shooting" which has arisen from an event that shouldn't even have happened ONCE, let alone the numerous times it has in the US. The stereotypical American notion of "freedom" is a joke to the rest of the world - not that all Americans believe in it the same way (and I really don't have any beef with the majority of Americans), but the ones who are most vocal sure do sound ridiculous.

    Food and Drink list

Heavy duty food weekend. Had cured monkfish and some of that sauternes-aged Glenmorangie on Saturday night. The whiskey was amazing... Really mild and almost sweet - quite different from the Islay offerings I normally drink. Yesterday I took a weird notion and cooked for several hours, because I'm working 7 shifts of ten hours this week and won't have time to cook up anything much I reckon. So I made stuff in advance to try and (a) save money and (b) eat right. So there's about 2kg of beef chilli all done- 1. Onions and minced garlic in a pan 2. Add 1 chopped good quality chorizo and either beef chunks or mince and brown the whole lot 3. Add 1-2 tins of chopped tomato depending on the amount of mince 4. Add pre-soaked dried chillis (20 minutes in boiled water beforehand), ideally chipotle, and season with salt and pepper 5. Bring to boil and then simmer for about an hour or so, adding 1-2 cans of black beans in the last ten minutes Then a sheperd's pie (or a cottage pie, really, because I used beef mince)- 1. Onions and carrots, diced, in a pan until softened... Followed by mince, oregano and cumin, fresh thyme 2. Add in mince and brown the whole lot 3. Cumble in a stock cube and add 110ml or so of a good quality red ale or bitter and bring to the boil before simmering for an hour 4. Meanwhile quarter and boil in salted water the mashed potato and steam for 2-3 minutes before mashing with butter and salt 5. Add mushrooms and some cream to the mince mixture, and bring to boil again 6. When the consistency looks good - put the mince into a dish that's going to go in the oven, and grate cheddar over it before layering the mashed potato on top of that 7. Bang in the oven for 40 minutes or so or until golden I'd take pictures but I was too lazy. Put those aside for the week ahead and we ended up eating a 25oz cote de boef between two of us, with smoky baked beans and sage onion rings. Whisky sour on the side.

    good client behavior

The other day I was looking at Shiges' site and saw this photo I then realised that this client must have the same concerns and considerations for his artist as @hogg does ;) Shige to client "Lets get a photo of your chest piece and sleeves" Client to Shige "Just let me take off my pants"... lol. (yes I am aware that on shiges' site you can see that the same client was getting photos of his backpiece at the same time... but for the purposes of hilarity we won't acknowledge that)
